Have you ever felt like your entire being was sucked through a straw? It’s not very pleasant. In fact, it’s god awful, and that’s what it felt like every single time some fanatic or god forbid a priest decided to banish him back to hell. Pressure crushing together bones and flesh, turning it back to the liquid it once was, just to fit it through a portal that’s too fucking small.
Within the darkness that had surrounded him, a light shun faintly above him, struggling to make it through. His eyes were forced open and instead focused on what looked like a ceiling made out of tainted glass. Broken and brittle hands struggled to reach up, fingertips twitching to touch the small opening. The tip of his middle finger had managed to scratch what felt like ice and slowly his other hand joined. His body started quivering, desperate gasped opened and closed his mouth as he wiggled his way higher up and scratched harder at the cold grey ceiling. Finally, he had managed to scratch a small opening causing cracks to race to the edges of the portal and it crumbled down. There was no sound as it fell in the nothingness below him. His hand reached out of the emptiness and scratched the stone pavement as he attempted to grasp it. His other hand was quick to join. Both twitched and shivered uncontrollably through the force it took as he hoisted himself into this new world. With a loud gasp he dropped his torso on the cold wet stone and crawled further out of the portal. It closed and left nothing but a scar on the earth. His pants gained sound as well as his agonized and pained whimpers.
Loudly he screeched in pain as he curled up on the ground. The sun shone down upon him through rain clouds and cold wind. Slowly, the world around changed from blurred grey blobs to shapes of colour and sound. Hazy and static noise became clear and slowly turned to the sound of people. Not too far from his face he could finally make up what were shoes. Allot of them. Slowly he lifted his torso from the ground and let his unfocused eyes move around the people had made a circle around him. Faces of the people ranged from curious to worry to downright terrified. Sydney cringed as he heard murmurs and whispers. They felt like acid to his ears. As he moved up, the crowd moved back, staying away from whatever entity had just clawed through the ground. To Sydney’s surprise, his clothing still embraced his body and his tail was coiled around the cane that he had before he was banished. His tail brought the cane to his hands as he finally managed to stand on legs that still trembled. He rested his weight upon the stick before his eyes ran through the crowd. This was not hell, that he knew. A feverish expression was joined by a grin that slowly bared broken, yellow teeth.
“What do you call this world?” Sydney addressed them as loud as he could but his baritone voice was hoarse. Children hid behind women and women hid behind men as he words echoed through the busy streets.
