It was just a little after the witching hour when Sai finally made it to the little clinic in the second district. At this point, her body was threatening to shut down on her since she been moving and allowing the poison to flow through her blood stream but she had to keep going so that she could live for her children she wasn't going to die now. Raising her hand she knocked on the door as hard as she could praying that the healer was home since she wasn't sure given the time of day but she had to pray and hope that the healer was home. Tres hadn't been sleeping right since the surgery. She had had nightmares upon nightmares so realistic, they felt like faint memories. That night she had been tossing and turning and dreamed of Helena. She dreamed of her training from Helena, only in this dream as she whipped her back in punishment, she felt a burning sensation coming from her back, Helena had placed her hand on her new-found wing. She felt the burning rage through her fingertips, like a branding she never wanted. Helena then began ripping the wing from her back as she had done before. Tres screamed outright and -
Suddenly Tres awoke, sitting upright. Her back soaked in a layer of sweat. Her heart was racing, and pounding out of her chest. Her breaths were quick and deep, and broken. She threw a hand up to her chest, trying to calm herself down. Once she caught her breath, she sighed and tears began streaming down her face. Had she made the right decision? The symptoms from her surgery were only worsening.
Her thoughts were cut off when she heard a loud banging coming from downstairs. Who would come to the infirmary at such an hour?
Tres grabbed her light blue and white plaid robe and threw it over her pajamas. She quickly lit a candle that was held by a bronze candle-holder, and painfully walked down the stairs. When she reached the front door, she peered out the window, her candle lighting the edges of the window with a faint glow.
Tres opened the door, holding it open so she could see her visitor in full. "Yes, hello?" Her tired eyes did a quick body scan of the woman. "Can I help you?" she asked sleepily.

Seeing the light in the window a sigh of relief followed by a violent cough, covering her mouth with her sleeve as she waited for the door to open. From the flicker of the candle light, she notices the woman was half awake. "Sorry to wake you but..." Before she could finish another violent cough overtook her body causing her to double over, she could feel the poison spreading through her body. "I seek treatment..."
Standing up as straight as she could not liking the feeling of being weak it reminded her training as a child. She also knew that if her father could see her now he would just make her suffer until she could tell him the type of poison that caused this issue.Coughing into her sleeve as she used her other hand to press against the door frame to keep her from doubling over she notice a metallic taste in her mouth she was coughing up blood. "I was poisoned in the slums..."

Tres saw a woman bent over at her front door, she look in pain as if something was running through her veins and killing her from the inside, out. Before she could finish was she was saying, the woman doubled-over herself in a coughing fit. As soon as she fell, Tres bent down to help her and offer a hand to help her stand. But the woman pushed herself up to a standing position against the door frame. Tres waited for her to finish, but as soon as she went into another a coughing fit, Tres saw a sputter of red appear before her.
Quickly, she threw her arm underneath the woman supporting her weight, and helped her walk into the building. "Don't you apologize, here let me help you." she said quickly with a sense of urgency in her voice. If the woman accepted her help, she would walk her from the front room, past a curtain and into a larger sterile room which appeared to be the actual infirmary. "Do you know what poison it was?" she asked hoping the woman knew. She would wander over to the closest bed and help set the woman down.
Once the woman was on the bed, Tres would run over to the nearest closet and grab some tablets of charcoal, then grabbed a glass of water. "Chew on these, it will induce vomiting and hopefully help get the poison out of your system if it was ingested." she said handing the woman both the water and the tablet, after which, she ran over to the closet and grabbed both a vomit bucket that was made of a metal, and she also grabbed a few towels to help the woman clean up the blood.

Sai allowed the woman to help her since she wasn't in any mind to refuse the little bit of help given her current condition. As she made her way through the door and past the curtain that revealed the infirmary. Normally in this situation, she would have had her eyes checking out the room while looking at possible places a person could hide. Hearing the question she thought back to what the poison was all she could think was that it was the green line of mana that the rat had set off as he escaped. "I am not sure... it was a green flash of light before the poison was released." Coughing more and cursing herself for being weak to fall into a trap so simple once she was seated on the bed.
The more she coughed the more she felt as if her lungs were going to leave her body. Hearing what the tablets did she took them gratefully, wondering why she didn't think of that when she was making her way there. Quickly popping them into her mouth she started to chew on them. The taste was indescribable it was close to a mix of dirt not dirt tasted more like chalked mixed with tree bark. Each bite causing her stomach to churn wanting to get it out of her body until she couldn't hold it down anymore. Grabbing the bucket from the woman she folded over and emptied the content of her stomach of everything that she had ingested that evening. Her hair fell over her as sat back up, brushing her hair back behind her taking greedy sips of the water to wash the taste out of her mouth.

Tres watched as the woman ingested the charcoal as she recommended. She thought it would be a safe bet in case it was a poison that had somehow been ingested. But upon hearing the woman's story, she quickly realized that the charcoal will only make her experience here more difficult. But she supposed that the woman wouldn't mind the pain at this point. Quite frankly it would mean pain or her life, and if she knew people as little as she did, she knew that anyone would choose their life over pain, so she had to brace herself.
Tres quickly stood up, and asked of the woman "I'm going to need you to get onto your stomach, and now." she would rub her hands together to prepare to use her healing manna on the woman. If the woman were to flip over, Tres would go over to her supply closet, retrieve another small tablet of charcoal, then she would run and grab another glass of water for her and leave them both on the bed-side table right next to the woman "Lean your head off the side, so your in direct line with the bucket next to you." Tres would wait for the woman to adjust, and if she did, she would use her healing manna to trace the inhaled poison, feeling how far along it had gotten.
"You're gonna feel some pain here." she said warning the woman.

Listening to the woman Sai compiled and laid down on the bed on her stomach. During the time that the woman was off getting things, she let her mind wander back to her younger days when she first started to be trained in her current line of work. The times that her 'father' would poison her to help build her immunity and even taught her a little of what herbs were needed to kill and leave no trace and even those that could cure specify poisons. She didn't know why but the pain that she was in made her think back to those days which could be labelled as the happiest points of her childhood even if she is still considered a child by her both elves and changelings.
Snapping out her thoughts upon hearing the sound of glass touching wood. Opening her eyes she saw another glass of water and the tablet, nodding her head as her mind registered the instruction. Lending her head over the side, as her hands moved the bucket so that it was in her direct line of vision. Closing her eyes once again she almost felt like just going to sleep and never coming back, as soon as that thought crossed her mind another set of violent coughs took over her body. It was if they body wasn't ready to give up in this world just yet and she had to agree. "Pain means I am still alive, so it doesn't bother me." Her voice came out softer than before and be horse from the rawness of her throat from all the coughing.

Tres watched as the woman positioned herself as she instructed, Tres continued with further instruction in a stern and concerned voice following her settling off the edge of the bed. "When I instruct you to, you will take the second dosage of charcoal. Chew on it, let yourself release all the toxins." Tres took a breath to mentally prepare herself. "Let me handle the rest."
Tres admired the bravery of her patient, she must have gotten herself into a tough situation to have been poisoned, and appeared to be used to painful situations. No matter her occupation, it was her duty as a healer to heal her. Tres rubbed her hands together, let out a deep breath and continued "This will feel like I am pulling your insides out, brace yourself." Tres' healing manna would be like a sudden burst. Sai would feel her insides being squeezed, as if squeezing out the poison from her internal organs. Sai would feel a shortness of breath for a few minutes, almost as if they were gasping for air, and then would feel sudden relief as a gaseous substance curled out of their mouth.
As soon as the gaseous substance was removed, Tres would grab a bottle and would contain it within the bottle. "Take the charcoal... Now!" she instructed with urgency. The charcoal will help to exterminate any remaining traces of it from her internal pathways. Tres looked at the bottle. "The substance will evaporate in the bottle due to it's natural course... Can't change fate." she smiled for a moment knowing she did her job.
She would look down at the woman, and with kindness in her voice said "I never got your name." Tres kept hold of the vial while she waited for the woman to stomach the ability to say something. All the while, Tres grabbed the pitcher of water she used to fill the glasses, and brought it over to the woman, setting it on the side table with a dulled sound broken by the wood material.

Nodding her head to the best of her ability as a thought went through her head wondering who the hell would want to keep toxins in they body. Then again she did enjoy gaining even small immunity to different toxins by ingesting or inhaling them. Taking a deep breath mentally, her hands balled into a fist as she felt the rush of mana on her body, shutting her eyes tight to prevent the tears from fall as she did her best to remain as still as possible while just reminding herself that the pain was only temporary compared to death which was permanent.
Feeling her breath leaving her just tighten her fist letting her nails dig into the palms of her hands until they broke skin. Even as her body demand more oxygen she reminded herself that she been through worst but this was on par with some of close calls to deaths. The need to throw up came almost suddenly but as soon as she opened her mouth it was a gaseous substance that came out instead of a liquid. She didn't get much time to look at the gas or the bottle that it was being trapped in upon hearing the urgencies to take the tablet. Quickly popping it into her mouth without a second thought and chewing on it until the taste cause her stomach to throw up whatever might be left in her system into the bucket just below her.
Feeling better she sat up being careful not to knock the bucket over. "Thank you. My name is Lily but everyone calls me Sai." She said softly, as she looked down at her hands noticing the small indents of her nails and the small trails of blood. Reaching out she carefully took up the glass of water as she drank as if her life depended on it.

Tres jumped when the woman tried sitting up after she used manna. "It would be best that you sit up slowly." she said "Please, take your time." Tres' voice was soft, comforting. She would offer her hand to help to woman, if she chose to accept her help.
Tres took a moment to let her patient settle. "Well, Sai. It's a pleasure to meet you," Tres paused a moment to laugh. "Even if it was under unfortunate circumstances." Tres suddenly felt the slight tiredness that comes with using healing manna. Tres took a seat on the bed opposite of Sai, feeling shake-y and tired.
Tres took a moment, and wondered how Sai got herself into the situation that brought her here. Tres pondered at why someone would poison her. What kind of secrets was she hiding? Tres thought not to ask so that she wouldn't put herself in an unwanted position. "So, as much as I would like to offer you free care, I must ask for some form of payment." she said in a very gentle tone, hoping to not offend her patient. " But you can stay here while you recover."

Sai allowed the woman to help her sit up, she didn't use to this since she normally just did whatever was needed to get out of any situation that might require her to need a healer. Now that gotten some of the strength back she turned her attention to her hands for a moment. Closing her eyes, she placed her hands together as a soft glow of mana illuminated her hands mending together the small cut on her hands. Opening her eyes once again she looked at her hands while feeling the dizziness from the lack of energy.
“It is nice to meet you as well. Though I do wished it could have been under the more favourable situation.” She said honestly as Tre’s took a seat next to her. Sai did notice the signs of the magical drain on the browned hair female and gave her as much time as she needed to recover. She would have offered her something to drink but she didn’t know the Infirmary that well to know where to find the kitchen to find the urn of water. Upon hearing the need for payment she only nodded her head. “That is understood. What would you like for payment?" Her voice soft and showing that she wasn't offended by her asking. She was ready to offer whatever payment needed to be it money or even information if needed since she knew that information was more valuable to some compared to money.

Tres began feeling better almost immediately after sitting down across from Sai. She hadn't done much healing magic since her surgery. She hadn't realized that it would take that much out of her. She had been using healing manna her whole life, and she had never experienced exhaustion following the use of manna. This was definitely new to her, but luckily it subsided quickly.
Tres looked at the woman with gratitude, glad that she hadn't taken offense. Although she knew this was her business, she still felt bad asking for payment following their illness or ailment. Tres looked at the woman, and pondered her question. "Well..." she began "The rate I go by is 50 novurian." this was her flat rate for her healing services. If the woman had to stay over for the whole evening, she would have to charge more. Tres continued "But also, I would like to know what happened to put you in this position... It's not often that I have a patient come in here for a poisoning, let alone an airborne poison." Tres wondered what could have caused this. It must have been the work of someone else. Tres awaited the woman's answer.

Sai pondered the amount 50 novurian wasn’t too bad compared what she was expending given that she did inhale an airborne poison. Doing a quick mental check given how much she had drank and that she didn’t pay her bill since the fight had broken out she had more than enough money to pay for the treatment.
She gave a light chuckle when the woman asked how she came to be in her position, normally if this had happened she would have just paid and walked away since it was a private matter between her and the person who hired her. It was funny since she gotten herself into a situation similar to work without doing work stuff. “Well, there was a riot going on in the slums, that I may or may not have started by accident. It got out of hand and I was going to leave when I saw something and decided to follow.” She said closing her eyes for a moment wondering if she should say what she was chasing. Looking at the woman she didn’t see any harm in it and if the ratman decided to pop his head out again it would be good for someone else to know what is happening. “It turned out to be a ratman that worked with the underground slave markets. I guess he was hoping to get some girls in the chaos to carry off. I tried to take him down when he shaped shifted into a normal sewer rat and release the poison as he got away. I quickly made my out of the house to get fresh air but I was too slow since I had already inhaled the poison.”

Tres listened to Sai attentively as she explained what she underwent in the third district. She hadn't been aware of the riot. It wasn't very often that Tres left the second district to go into the third. From what she had heard, the area was sketchy, filthy, and full of robbers and muggers and theifs... oh my. Tres nodded in response to Sai, listening to all that happened. "I am so sorry that happened to you. It sounds like a real issue." she said, sympathy oozing out of her speech. "Thank goodness you made your way over here." she said with sincerity in her voice.
Tres grew worried after hearing that a man who took part in the black market slave trade was roaming Nova in a rat form. Tres felt shivers run down her spine. What a scary thought. Tres knew that she would be sleeping with a sword under her pillow that night.
Tres stood up, and extended a hand to Sai. "Well, I'm glad that I could be of service to you. It was my pleasure healing you today." Tres would then walk over to the curtain leading to the front area of the infirmary, and would pull the curtain aside, and wait for Sai to follow.

“It is okay it’s part of the life.” It was also one of the best places for her to live given her line of work. Though she hadn’t told anyone yet she was planning on settling down more into a stable base of operation as soon as she finds the right business partner to help run the cover business. Reminded seated for a moment grabbed her coin purse from her belt shaking out the number of coins she stood up
Standing up Sai felt unsteady at first before regaining her balance carefully, shaking her head to clear the light spots. Following the woman towards the curtain she smiled a true smile at her. “Thank you for treating me this late at night.” Taking the coins in her hand she carefully handed them to Tres. “Also, sorry for waking you this late at night. I should get going now I promised someone I would be home to tell them a story.” She said as she took her leave heading out into the night.
