A Piece of Cake [Amiee and Leon]

Wherever the two lovebirds found themselves, they would hear a whispered cackle from afar, and would immediately sense a presence a few feet in front of them. Should they go to investigate it, when they took a few steps they would immediately see a burst of light, and their vision would be impaired. They would feel the firm and tight grip of hands grab onto their forearms, holding them back as if the civilian guards restrained them again. They would hear a voice whisper in their right ear “My, my, don’t we have a sour side.” The voice would tease.



When they regained their vision, the would see a nice dark blue blanket laid out on the grassy floor of the forever forest, surrounded by flowers of different shades and hues. A few platters would sit on the blanket, containing different pastries; tartes, crepes, Danishes, and the like. In the center of it all would be a cake sitting on a silver stand. It was the exact same cake they had purchased together when they first met, flowers and all. This cake tasting would be paired with a few knives and forks, one plate, two wine glasses, and a bottle of red dessert wine to pair. As their vision returned they would see each other standing only a few feet away from the other, and a voice would chime “Then again, sweet and sour go hand-in-hand.”

After the bright light, looking around Leon noticed the setting around him and Amiee, looking around he quickly checked to see if there was any guards, bandits, animals. Basically he sought out to see if this was a trap quickly as he walked over to Amiee, after the voice faded.“ What happened? At least it does not look like there is anyone else around here.” Leon said as he gestured Amiee to the blue blanket laid out between them “ Let’s have a seat and enjoy, for now everything looks safe Amiee” Leon said with a smile waiting for her to follow him.

Amiee had been at the tavern she had just gone outside to get some fresh water to go clean the tables when she heard something. Putting down the bucket she went and investigated it only to have bright light blind her when she felt someone grab her arms. She started to struggling to wiggle a tiny bit only to hear a voice teasing her. Once the light died down she notice a that she was surrounded by trees and there weren’t any additional voices of the stray city cats coming to her it was peaceful the last time she remembered having it peaceful like this was when her mother and still alive and she travelled around the country always going from kingdom to kingdom.



Hearing another voice, she looked up and saw Leon without any guards and with his bow and arrow on his back. Looking up to the sky she whispered. “Thank you, Lady Ai.” As a soft smile graced her features that the Goddess allowed her heart wishes to be heard and she could have some private time with Leon without worry of guards or her father possible coming and interrupting them. Taking a seat on the blue blanket she looked at some of the things laid out on it and notice the cake that they both had picked out on they first meeting together. “I missed you, Leon.” She said blushing a tiny bit.

“ I missed you too Amiee,” Leon said as he moved towards the blanket and took a seat. Moving the cake towards him, Leon took a knife and started to cut a piece for both of them slowly sliding the cake slices to the plates to make sure it did not fall over “ Here Amiee have a slice.” Leon said with a smile as he gently slid the plate back towards her.

“It's the same cake as the one we originally picked out. So lets enjoy it” Leon smiled as he took a fork from the side cut off a small piece before taking a bite out of it. Looking around as he took a bite he noticed the peaceful scenery in front of him.

Taking the plate along with the fork she took a small piece of cake, the sweet sugary flavor melting on her tongue. Moving a little closer to Leon she rested head on his shoulder closing her eyes for a few moments as she took in his scent, it was one thing that she learned from the cats was that everyone carried a different scent. All she could pick up was the scent of wood and hint of cinnamon it was calming and relaxing. “How have things been at the castle Leon?”

“ the Castle been somewhat calm, not too many things have been happening recently and if it did, they did not concern me” Leon said as he gently moved his hand to Amiee’s head and gently rubbed her head. “ Did you want a bit more of the cake? “ Leon asked as he used his free hand to cut a small piece and moved it closer to Amiee’s mouth to see if she would take it or not.

“Really the castle been calm? But just three months ago, wasn’t there an attack on the castle during the trial.” Amiee blushed a bit as he rubbed her head and she started to purr a bit. “No more cake for now. But have you told your family about us?” She asked and if Leon looked at her he would see that her eyes were wide and hopeful waiting for his answer.

“That was three months ago Amiee, and they sorted it out for the most part. I believe they said a suspect was caught and in the dungeons as we speak.“ Leon put the fork back on the plate and smiled. “okay , and well not yet. I actually haven’t sent word to them in some time. I was planning on doing it a bit later on. I feel bad for the servants if I were to send word to them repeatedly” Looking at Amiee and smiling “Don't worry when I send word to them I’ll mention you in it as well.”

Leon looked at the area and at the flowers before looking back at Amiee, “This place is peaceful is it not amiee?” After saying that leon laid down on the blanket.

“True but we the public didn’t get any information on if the person who got hit was okay.” She said, her eyes sadden a bit when he said he haven’t sent notice to his family yet. Then again it did make sense that he didn’t want to keep sending word back and fore with letters all the time. She did brighten up when he said that he will tell them about her soon.


Standing up for a moment she walked over and picked a few flowers before coming back over to the blanket. With the flowers in hand, she slowly started to braid them together to make a flower crown once done she placed the crown down next to Leon she quickly pulled out the ribbon in her hair as letting her hair flow behind her in the light breeze. Laying down next to Leon she rested her head on his chest as she listened to his steady heartbeat as she closed her eyes. “It reminds me of when my mother was alive and we travelled around the country.”

“She’s okay from what i heard she had a child right after that event.” Leon said honestly. Looking at what Amiee was doing he was mesmerized when she let the ribbon go and her hair was flowing before she laid down. Putting a hand on her head as Leon patted him he smiled “Oh? If you don’t mind can you tell me a bit about her?” Leon was curious since he never met Amiee’s mother. He only met Calix her father quite recently.

Nodding her head happy to hear that the female in question was doing fine and she had a baby. She did hope that the baby was born healthy. She closed her eyes as she sighed in happiness from getting petted. Hearing him ask about her mother she had to think for a while wondering what to tell Leon about her mother. “Well mama died when I was younger, Calix found me wandering the streets alone and hungry and he took me in and is now my papa.” She said explaining a little of why her mother wasn’t around. “Before mama died she used to brush my hair and tell me stories while we were travelling. I miss her voice since she uses to sing me to sleep.”

"Its good to hear that Calix took care of you afterwards, sorry for bringing up some bad memories Amiee" Leon said sadly putting his arm over her shoulder he pulled her in closer to him and smiled "Should we lay down a bit longer or walk around a bit Amiee?" Leon asked. If they were to lay down Leon would turn towards Amiee and give her a small kiss on her cheek. while if they were to walk around the area Leon would help Amiee up before walking side by side to see the scenery and more of the area.

“Well from what papa told me. It is looked down upon if an orphanage is found and no one takes them in since our race looks after our own kind. It’s okay I am sure that if mama was alive she would have love to meet you and it’s not all bad memories.” Amiee closed her eyes and blinked away the tears of the memory of her losing her mother, even with it being seventeen almost eighteen years ago, it still felt like it happened yesterday.


“Can we lay like this for a bit longer?” Her voice soft as she turned her face so that she was looking at Leon. Moving a bit closer so that she pressed right against his side. She closed her eyes as small blush raised to her cheek when Leon kissed her.

Leon listened to what Amiee said and felt bad, to him it seemed she had a hard life and wanted to make sure she never had to deal with it again “Mhm we can stay like this a bit longer.” Laying down and looking at Amiee calmed leon down as he stared off to space with an arm around Amiee.

“Hey Amiee since it seems like we’re alone here in a bit we should go and walk around and check the area around us. It seems like the area here is filled with different flowers” After saying that leon would wait for Amiee so they would be able to begin they’re walk.

“We can go for a walk,” Amiee said as she slowly pushed off so that she wasn’t resting on Leon. Sitting up she looked at the flowers that were around them, she picked up the flower crown she had made easier and placed it on Leon’s head. “You look pretty now.” She said smiling at him before she stood up.
