Boduognatos Cingetoriulios Tuotis Nervii
" If I were to die, please allow it to be in battle."
Nickname: Boduo by family members. Bud by friends Age: 27 Gender: Male Race: Human Origin: Native Role: Earl |

Hair Color/Style: He wears his hear long and in a braid for the most part. Sometimes loose and full. It all depends on how he feels, really. He does have facial hair in a trimmed beard, however, plans on eventually growing it out.
Eye color: Dark blue
Skin Color: Fair, light. Can tan if he's been in the sun long enough

Along with the tunic, he usually wears a pair of grey trousers and boots that go to the ankle, and depending on the weather, either a cloak or a cape, held at the shoulder by a gold brooch.
When in battle, he wears a thick gambeson with riveted steel chain mail and a helmet that covers most of the face with forged plate, down to the cheek bone and chain mail covering the lower part of his face and his neck.
Personality: As he was the heir by birth right, he by tradition was to be taught by his father, and as an attentive student during his early years, he learned and became an intelligent, competent leader as well as strong noble warrior and commander. Since his father's untimely death, six years ago, he's ruled over his small hold with benevolence. He is willing to mingle with the peasants and serfs, sometimes to the point where he's been more than willing to work with them with the physical labour and even feast with them.
He feels it is better to lead by example as well as show that even a leader should have the tenacity to be able to work alongside his fellow man. He is admired by those in his hold and his honour and chivalry is well spoken of.
As much as he is a benevolent earl, he also enjoys the thrill of battle, even though most of the battles he's taken part in has been skirmishes against bandits and brigands. Despite his small amount of experience from these skirmishes, he has proven to be a decent commander in these times.

Biography
History:
The history of Boduognatos goes beyond just his own father and his heirloom of earldom. It was roughly two or three hundred years ago. His family was once not apart of this continent. It was mostly warring tribes, with the exception one powerful, militaristic Republic. This Republic turned itself into an Empire and expanded, taking most of the continent. The tribes were on the verge of forming one kingdom before being destroyed in mass genocide. Two generals stood out though, during this war. Ambiorix, of the Nervii, and Vercingetorix of the Arverni. They heroically defeated their enemy in a few battles, before initially being defeated. Vercingetorix was executed and Ambiorix, for his people, lead them away. (The land itself resembles Ancient Europe and the people themselves closer to the mixed stock of Germanic and Celtic tribes).
Boduognatos' is family and people was said to have come from the north. From the "Unknown Territory". In reality, they were lost at sea and landed far north. They lived there, as nomads for a time until they came across the Willows Meadows, south of Morgg Mountain. A band of warriors from this group marched through the Willows Meadows first, lead by Ambiorix. He was considered a terrifying man upon being met with those from Nova. However, this wasn't necessarily the case for his small group of people. They were more refugees forced to roam around in a horde.
This is where history for Boduognatos' family starts. Boduognatos' family, though the blood line slowly declined, yet some how manages to stay strong. They called themselves the Nervii, and was considered by a great general, "The Bravest". And thus, as a tradition of his family's past, his family's name will always end with Tuotis Nervii, meaning "Of the Nervii People."
When Ambiorix came, along with the small group of his war band arrived, they found themselves in possibly a worse situation than before. Their looks, clothes, language, religion and culture where only some of the trials they had, and due to the unfortunate circumstances, Ambiorix had to try and find a way to make it so that he and his band can potentially co-exist and potentially thrive. Yet this was a far fetched idea.
In the beginning, they were seen as unintelligent, mindless barbarians, threatening to distinguish the flames of civilization.
According to some historians, Ambiorix arrived in the city Nova on his own, and requested to talk. Others say, he made threats. Never the less, Ambiorix gained his way into the society of Nova and began learning new things. He asked for education. The learning of the language, and the customs, in exchange, he offered his sword and his men as mercenaries for the time being.
It wasn't Ambiorix, however, that was granted the title of earl and land. He wedded a young peasant girl, in Nova and together they had four children. One boy and three girls.
In the years that followed, after the death of Ambiorix, his grandson, named after a famous Arvernian Chieftain from their homeland, Vercingetorix, a knight found himself at arms against a small rebel force within the north. The rebel force had taken a town up north and although Ambiorix's standing army of one hundred and fifty warriors was though still pretty much 'expendable barbarian mercenaries', Vercingetorix took command of them and requested that he and his men be the ones to retake the village.
He wanted a means to show to the world that-- even though this is but a small rebellion in comparison that of earlier history, that the Nervii, as watered down as their gene pool became, where not to be tossed aside like fodder. Vercingetorix made an agreement, that if he retakes the town, that he should be granted the allowance to govern it. As much as it is a small town, it would be a decent reward.
Vercingetorix marched out with his small war band of a hundred and fifty, and the belief from a majority within the nobility that they would ultimately fail Vercingetorix.
At the battle, Vercingetorix was out numbered at least five to one, however, it did not frighten him the least. To him, it just meant more glory at the end. The enemy rebels sallied forth towards the oncoming army. Though, to them, they thought it was just another faction of bandits trying to take over the spoils. With a spear in his hands and a sword at his hip, Vercingetorix raised his spear and marched forth behind a wall of tall oval shaped shields.
As the enemy charged, Vercingetorix and his men waited until they were at least ten feet away before giving up their spears. They raised them high over their heads and the first few lines of rebels fell to the ground, unexpectedly impaled by a rain of thrown spears. The surprise of missile weapons softened the impact of the rebels charge enough to make it seem useless as they collided with Vercingetorix's army who'd drawn their swords and axes.
The skirmish didn't last too long and in the end to the surprise of even Vercingetorix, they were victorious. Upon returning to Nova, in a month's travel, Vercingetorix was granted all that he was promised. The town and it's land was given to him and his family.
It has been in the "Tuotis Nervii" family ever since. The tribe's name, "Nervii" stuck with the family as well, as a tradition and a reminder of where they're from and thus, though one of the smaller branches of nobility, they became the House of Nervii.
Boduognatos was fortunate to grow up in this family. He was born and given the name that means "Son of the Crow", and was named after a general who according to his family legend, Ambiorix knew and fought alongside in the Gallic Wars.
As the first male within his family, Boduognatos was to be the heir of the town, they renamed Nemossos. Because of his future earldom, Boduognatos was to learn about administration of the hold along with politics and war. At the age of five, as tradition for the descendants of the original Nervii, Boduognatos learned how to fight. First with a spear and shield. The simplest of weapons. Along with that, his uncle, Cunomarus taught him all that he needed to know about logistics and management.
He grew up in a large family, as is the potential norm for most higher aristocratic families, with three brothers and three sisters after him.
For Boduognatos himself, most of his life was spent learning and training, up until around seven years ago. At the age of twenty, his father, Cingetorix was assassinated, found with a blade embedded in his chest in his bed chambers. The death rocked the hold. Some turned to the idea that it might've been Boduognatos himself trying to claim the hold. Others suggest it was an outsider, not fond of the House of Nervii.
Boduognatos found himself in a difficult position. The assassination of the Earl spread across near by lands and despite Boduognatos' claim to his hold, it was suggested that he might not be fit. Bandits too would think this much and attempt to form parties of war bands to try and attack Boduognatos.
On the domestic side, Boduognatos had to find a means to quell a disturbed populace. As public order became nearly unstable since the death of Cingetorix, the possibility of rebellion grew as well. Boduognatos turned to his uncle, Cunomarus who also served his brother as an adviser.
Boduognatos' placed his first ordeal as to quell a bandit uprising in the north and thus, leaving Cunomarus in charge of the hold. Boduognatos lead an army of close to four hundred. Mostly levies from the local area armed with spears and shields. Only about one hundred where actual warriors. Roughly seventy five or so, horsemen, mostly squires and a few knights wth both Segomaros and Britomaros joining as cavalry commanders for Boduognatos.
According to the scholar who made his way along with the army in order to document it, the army was outnumbered, similar to Vercingetorix's battle, centuries before. However, unlike Vercingetorix's battle, Boduognatos kept most of his levies on the flanks, keeping them in two thick groups. The center was made up of a thin line of Boduognatos' warriors, including himself. As for the cavalry, Segomaros and Britomaros were both on each flank of the levies.
It was Boduognatos' plan to lure the large over cumbersome army of roughly one thousand into the center and retreat slowly so that the levies could close in from the side and to the surprise of the scholar, the tactic worked.
As for Segomaros and Britomaros, the two targeted both enemy cavalry and archers at the rear, routing them before closing the remaining enemy in a box. The enemy found themselves surrounded, being trampled on by horses in the rear and cut down on all sides. The battle was said to be a blood bath, and a statement to the rest of the neighboring lands that despite the death of Cingetorix, Boduognatos would be a force to be reckoned with.
Back home, Boduognatos found himself a different battle. There were a few riots in the streets regarding his claim to the hold, considering their assumption on who it was that killed Cingetorix. Boduognatos offered himself up for trial to show his innocence in the matter. However, instead of a judicial trial he was thinking of having, a man by the name of Clive Alaric approached him, offering a trial by arms to settle the matter, claiming that if he is killed, Boduognatos would be innocent in the death of his father. If he kills Boduognatos, or if Boduognatos refuses, then of course, the Earl is guilty, as the gods demands his death for dishonour, either way.
Boduognatos thought it was a stupid notion, but had no other choice than to fight. It was the eve of this fight, that his cousin, Alexander granted him a bearded axe. Saying it was supposed to be a gift to his father, but since he'd passed away, it would be well off, given to him. Boduognatos thanked Alexander and would fight the next hour. Armed instead of his arming sword with his father's shield, an axe and shield.
The fight ended after fifteen minutes, with Boduognatos slaying Alaric with an axe across, into the shoulder.
Despite the trial by arms was in Boduognatos' favour, tensions with the populace were still mildly unfavourable towards him. This lead him to start reaching out to the peasants within his hold. Helping them out where help was needed, including building a new wall, helping on the farms, and working on building new houses and structures within the town. He even started inviting the populace to his hold for feasts and drinks. A means to get to know them on a closer lever, and for them to get to know him. After a few years, tensions settled down, and the populace began to looked up to him.
His own personal tensions, though did not settle down. The threat of assassination was still in the back of his mind. While most of his siblings, with the exception of the twins, Segomaros and Britomaros, moved all over, whether for marriage or other things, Boduognatos eventually after great stress over the idea of himself getting assassinated decided to make his way to the city of Nova, leaving his Uncle and Brothers in charge.
He sent a courier ahead with a left with twenty of his men, house carls, as protection during this month's worth of travel. On the twelfth day, his group was ambushed by surprising;ly well off 'bandits'. These bandits wore chain mail and helmets, along with tower shields stripped of paint. Attacked from all sides by a significantly large group of bandits. He and two others, named Gregory Hanson and Magnus Aurelius, survived and made it earlier than expected, about a week earlier.
