Séanait's desire for roast owl rose enormously as it seemed to moon and flip her off. Now, it could be that that was all accidental and not at all related to the attack, but Séanait had seen this owl before, and it seemed remarkably intelligent. Given some of the things she had seen in this world, it didn't seem particularly odd that an owl might be sentient enough to insult her. Plus, she was furious to the point of violence, so rational though was difficult enough without continued provocation. Ilta's comment about the owl being a crazy woman who followed her around didn't help matters much.
Séanait knew what she had to do if she wanted to avoid killing the owl. With an obvious struggle, she lowered her bow and stiffly returned the arrow to her bag. Then, turning to face the boy - who still didn't seem to see the problem with what he'd been doing - she spoke in the calm, deliberate tones of someone who knows they're on the edge of an outburst and are desperately trying to avoid it.
"Just because you didn't kill anyone this time doesn't mean you won't kill anyone next time. These are public woods."
She walked towards the boy, until she was within a couple of paces of him.
"If you really want to learn how to use that bow, find out where we live off Ilta here. When I've calmed down enough, I'll teach you willingly, starting with the very basics."
Séanait moved up into the lad's personal space and brought her face right up to his, a brief flash of anger showing on her face.
"But if I ever catch you out here shooting arrows at trees again, I'll break that bow of yours. Got it?"
