Serenity nodded at the explanation of their universe. She knew that, and she had come to wonder, what if they had been from the same time period, his or hers? What would come of them, if they were to know one another? Either way, they knew each other now, so she supposed it didn't matter. She was however, silently impressed with Kail's reaction to Rivers idea. She was still learning about the man, and so far, her impressions of him, remained good. She looked up at Rivers, nodding at his words as well. It seemed he could be a gentlemen as well, if he wanted to be.
Serenity's view on people had come to change, if only slightly, since falling into this world. She was still quick to assume based on appearance, but now, instead of sticking with the assumption, she allowed herself to learn about them. Had she not, she would have ignored Kail the moment he left her after bringing her here the day she arrived. In a way, she had him to thank for that.
Her eyes slid over to the bracelet Kail had put on the table. Dragon Bones..? Oddly mesmerizing.... She looked up from it, to him, and smiled, a beautiful grin that somehow looked graceful and not at all goofy on her face. Kail, I love it. Honestly, it's quite stunning! She picked it up delicately, not sure of how fragile it was as of yet, and held it up, looking at it from another angle.
This is from Dragon bones? Amazing... Her hazel eyes scanned it, for once not criticizing it, but admiring it fully. For some reason, it meant a great deal to her. Thank you. She put it on her right wrist, liking how it seemed to fit perfectly on her tiny arm. Serenity looked up, hearing a voice start singing, seeing that it was Rivers. Her face was confused, but it became pink as she registered the words, and her name. Was he reciting something about them? She glanced at Kail, tucking a few strands of her hair behind her ear in a slightly nervous habit. What was Rivers doing?
When he was finished, Serenity cleared her throat, wishing she hadn't already finished her wine. Yes. Quite a bit of potential indeed. Her voice was low, and her eyes down at the table and her empty glass. Upon hearing his question, her looked up again, her glance darting back and forth for a moment between the two men. What was their relationship? She hadn't a bloody clue! Was there one? Well, the bracelet on her wrist, that felt warm currently, could be a symbol of something, couldn't it? She remained silent, not wanting so say something she would come to regret later, and mostly, wanting to hear what Kail had to say.

Kail smiled slightly as Serenity was enjoying the bracelet as he put a lot of work in the designs. Since he was able to manipulate the water gem he placed on his own bracelet. Into a small water drill to carve it in and most of it was really well done. As he was about to say something he hears Rivers lightly singing and like his redheaded friend. His face turned a light shade of crimson as it was something about himself and Serenity. Then Rivers jabs into him about what there relationship was. How in the hell was he sapose to know! He was just getting day to day and trying to survive. Did he have time for love or a relationship? At the moment no he did not and sure as hell not sure where he and Serenity stood hell. He was trying to be nice and he knew that he had to make some kind of answer as Kail was on the spot and he did not have an answer.
Kail guzzled down some more wine before speaking "Really.......ugh....your an ass Rivers" he said almost silently. "Your being a bit too nosy and that's something should be between myself and Serenity that should be talked about in private. A gentleman does not talk about it so openly" he said trying to be nice as he did not want to get into this. If pushed though, Kail was not going to be a nice person and did not want to be put on the spot right now. The blond just saw Serenity as a friend right now. The blond looked a bit edgy as he did not know if that was the right answer to say. He was the younger one out Rivers and Serenity as he assumed that they were a few years older then him.

Rivers grins as he watches the exchange between Serenity and Kail. Well if they were not together, he imagined, they'd at least give it a shot in the not so distant future. As he sat on the stool watching them he wondered what Rukia and Raine were up to now, well Rukia probably died in that world explosion thing Aria mentioned...that thought made him a little sad.
Though his grin only widened when Serenity mentioned that the song had potential and he nodded. "Yeah I think so so, I think a line about your hair being red as dragon fire to create a nice parallel would work well, and the verse about killing the dragon could be better, or maybe I should just add some verses." he considers excited to talk about the new song, and obviously enjoying the banter. The mysterious air had disappeared and been replaced by the enthusiasm of a child.
His head snaps over to Kail when he calls him an ass and his grin fully blooms. "Oh~ if it's not something to talk about in polite company that means that there is something, or at least you'd like there to be." Rivers responds as he looks over at Serenity and finds himself chuckling.
"Well it looks like you'll be having a bit of a hard time, but I'm sure you two will work it out."

Serenity nodded curtly to Rivers going on about his song. Her mind had been taken else where, lingering on Kail's words. She supposed he was right, it was a conversation meant for private ears, them alone, but she had a sinking feeling that it was a conversation that was doomed to never happen. Her mind could be running wild, but by the look on Kail's face, she wasn't sure. She glanced down at her wrist, once more admiring the bracelet that sat so elegantly upon it. What did it mean? She supposed he could have just wanted to be nice... That was probably it, wasn't it? Serenity let out a subtle sigh, looking back up to Kail, who now looked on edge.
Rivers kept pushing though, insisting that if Kail didn't want to talk here, then there must be something to talk about. Serenity couldn't help but hope that he was right, but she felt silly for thinking it at all. Why did it even matter to her? Kail was nothing more than a friend she'd met, a poorly dressed man... That helped her, was kind to her, and continued to treat her well, despite the way she treated the world, and looked down upon him when they met. She couldn't bring herself to think so poorly of him. She glanced at Rivers when he laughed, arching an eyebrow.
Hmm. Whatever you say Mr. Rivers. You seem to have quite the knowledge of these situations. That means you must have been in a similar one, do tell. Serenity leaned forward on the table, resting her elbows on it, and her chin in her palms. There was a strong air of sarcasm to her voice, and the look on her face was purely sassy and obviously pointing out the awkwardness to his question in relation to her asking him. She glanced at Kail, smiling lightly, attempting not to laugh.

"You know what Rivers you can go screw Zeppon's ass. I don't need this kind of shit, if you want to spread some crap go on ahead. Are you entertained by this? Is this how you get your fun! Torrmenting someone until they explode oh oh oh or maybe watch a free show were two people get it on! Take that offer you had and shove it where the sun does not shine" Kail yelled as he was angry as he was being pressured into some kind of situation he did not want to be in. His anger was boiling at this point and got his things and turns to Serenity and his fury drops a bit. "I'm sorry that you had to see that. I was trying to be nice to you. There were no strings or anything like that connected to it. Anyway I'm out of here" he said and was now heading to the door. He wanted to go and clear his head before he punched some poor sap out. There was nothing there and what was there to misconstrued. Kail did feel bad about blowing up right in front of Serenity like that. Rivers had pushed way too far on what he was trying to do.

Rivers simply continues to smile as Kail finally explodes, though inside he was a bit disappointed, he'd hoped the boy would be more level headed, but if he was like this then he would be no help when the blades started swinging. Rivers lets out a sigh and shrugs at Serenity. "Well indeed, it seems I have pushed it too far." He admits, and his faces becomes neutral.
He gets to his feet and follows Kail out the door. Though the aura around the man had changed yet again, whether he was moody, or just wearing a lot of masks was difficult to tell...probably just moody though. As he steps past Kail he whispers "Don't come to Claire's execution then, you'll just get in the way."
Then he begins to walk away.

Serenity jumped, stunned by Kail's sudden outburst. She'd never seen him like this, having not been around him too much before. She removed her hands from the table, and leaned back, folding her hands in her lap, and looking away awkwardly. Her sly smile had shrunk into an awkward frown, and her eyes darted from the situation, down to her lap, and back again. She looked up in time to see Kail turn to her, and calm down just slightly. She was not used to such outbursts from anyone, not just Kail. Most men kept them hidden from the women, but perhaps this world was still proving to be more different, despite him not being from it.
Serenity sat a little straighter under his gaze, and moved her bangs from her eyes, looking into his. He apologized, and assured her that there was no real meaning to the bracelet, which now felt cool against her skin. She nodded silently, and looked down, slumping lightly back into her seat when he turned away. She heard Rivers sigh, and glanced back up, only to see him shrug. Little bastard found it amusing, didn't he? Serenity kept her anger in check, knowing she wasn't fully mad at him- true, he had pushed to far, but her emotions had nothing to do with the reaction, but the end statement "No strings".
It would seem you have. Though her body language proved other wise, her voice was calm and concise, no different than before. She watched him get up and leave, now alone at the table she had joined. Serenity let out a sigh, and leaned on the table, resting her cheek upon her hand. It was tempting to follow them, that she couldn't deny, but did she really want to get involved? It was clear she was no more than a friend to Kail, so what right would she have to try and mend the situation, assuming Rivers was still with Kail, and assuming she could even find them now?
Bloody hell. She let out a muddled whisper, and stood, leaving her glass behind, taking long strides to the door. What had stopped her before, from simply doing as she wished, despite the consequences? Why should she suddenly care if she was wanted by the company around her? Most people loved having her around, if now for who she was, but how she looked. She'd gotten used to it years ago, and it would take more than a couple of months in this hell hole of a world, to tear that out of her.
Serenity pushed past the door, and stepped outside in time to see Rivers walk away. She decided to stay a couple of feet behind the blonde, just in case, but stays close none the less. Well he's quite the ass, now isn't he?

Kail stayed silent when Rivers came up and then he said something that just shook him to his core. Claire was being executed! His thoughts were running a mile a minute as how did Rivers knew he was friends with the woman? She was one of the few people that he fought with against that dragon. He knew he screwed up with Serenity here since Rivers was trying to stear them into getting into bed with each other or start a relationship. "Partially but now he has some answers to some questions now. Look Serenity......we do need to talk a bit more on whats going on. I will be right back" he said to her and then goes right after Rivers. He was not going to be played or toyed with anymore. "How the hell do you know that I am friends with Claire? And why is she being executed, for what crime did she commit. I want answers, I am not going to idlely stand by. When a friend I know is going to die. One of the few I have made in this world" he said seriously. There was another fury growing in him, he could do nothing. He had no power at all compared to the man in front of him or anyone else there.

Rivers simply shrugged again when Serenity agreed he'd gone too far. "Well I didn't think he'd lose his top after a bit of needling, and I really do think you two go well together, well from what little I've seen anyways." He says before leaving, he did not seem particularly bothered by the turn of events.
He was mildly amused by Kail's sudden and immediate response to Serenity and mused a bit that Kail struck him as a very contrary person. Well I suppose it's none of my concern anymore, burned the bridge to test it...I'm not going to have many left at the end I suppose.
Though as expected he hears someone moving to catch up and soon Kail is standing next to him insisting on answers. Rivers eyes turn cold and if Kail had any ability to detect bloodlust or danger it would be ringing in his ears now. "Why should I give any information to someone who loses their top at jests and then insists on answers he has no right to?" Rivers asks Kail with very cold eyes, his demeanor still but straight, it was only at times like this that people tended to realize how big he was and he carried the expression of one who had seen far too much and had suffered for it.
"You're the one who told me to take my offer away without hearing it first." He says before he resumes walking.

".........Your right to a degree, but I tried to end that as quckly as I could. But you kept going on me. I am confused as hell with there emotions and whats going on. You think a relationship would help things and thanks to you. That killed any kind of relationship or anything between me and her. I digress, I am human so I will make mistakes and will get angry" said Kail as he was going to try and explain himself. He sees the stance of Rivers and saw that he was trying to intimidate him. Trying to puff himself up to try and enduce fear into him. But saw in his eyes he saw enough shit in his life. Compared to what he was going through right now so that did make him flinch slightly. "Yes I did on that, but it seems you don't want to have allies. Yes you have to be cloak and dagger and have your emotions in check. Not everyone is going to be you" he said and then sees Rivers walk away.
"Tell me if you did not push me like that. I'm sure you would have not gotten the same response or any of this. If Claire is being executed you think I would just rush in there with out a plan of action? But that's a moote point since you wrote me off as not being an ally. How many have you tried to recruit. If you tell me that I am the first one. I am going to laugh because your going to fail with the rest of the potential recruits. Even then....how can I trust you anyway. You have a silver tongue to tell a tail, I wonder how much of a lie you were spinning about me having some kind of potential" the blond said in disgust as he really saw him as a dirtbag. "Everyone considers me a god damn joke. Because I am worthless, since I don't have anything I can put on the table. So thanks again Rivers for reminding me again how useless I am. Fuck this world and everyone in it" he said at this point angry again but out of depression. He said and then turned around and walked away and goes up to Serenity.
"Right now Serenity........I really can't talk to you right now. I am too much of a mess right now. If I said things and did things that hurt you, I am sorry and I know it sounds lame but that's all I can give. I need to think over a lot of things" he said and really did look sorry and was going to head into the night.

Serenity waited outside, nodding as Kail said he would return. She saw them talk, a heated discussion, but, though she may intrude on many things, a fight between two males was not one of them. She leaned gingerly on the wall, not able to hear a thing, and not caring. Twirling a strand of hair around her index finger nervously, she chewed on her ruby lips, thinking over his words in her head.
Her problem must seem so petty in comparison to whatever they were fighting over- that much she was almost certain, but none the less, it was her problem. Every now and again she glanced up, only to see the same thing- both men standing, but it seemed Kail did most of the talking. Until, that is, she saw him heading back towards her. She quickly stood straighter and smoothed down her hair before folding her hands in front of her, neatly, like a proper lady should.
Immediately she felt as though there was a small weight placed atop her shoulders, and it took her a bit of effort not to slouch down at his words. No, Mr. Lancaster, of course not. I couldn't expect such a thing from you now, clearly you're distressed. She cleared her throat lightly, and gestured towards the door. Would you come back inside with me, just for another drink? You look as though you could use it- I give you my word, I won't speak at all, not about anything that just happened. Oh, and you haven't a need to apologize to me, really you don't. She smiled nervously, not sure what had come over her, other than the sudden desire to help him. What was it about this man, that even when she'd just been so blatantly turned down, twice, she still wanted to help, and be around him? Really, it was absurd.
I insist, Mr. Lancaster... I worry that you may do something reckless if I leave you alone... There was a hint of worry in her tone, and her face was powdered with honestly. Just one drink?

Rivers watches the outburst with a dull expression. How easily discouraged. He thinks unplesantly, though even as he does so he realizes that was unfair. Rivers had traveled, with heroes, he serving as the second to a demi-god and allowed Fate itself to possess him before. Rivers had met many people of great caliber, and to expect that level of caliber from everyone he met was unfair.
He felt that Kail had potential, he could have a great influence on this city, perhaps as a thief someday, perhaps as something else. As he hears the boy stop shouting he lets out a sigh.
"No, no you're right, I let my temper and ego get the better of me." He admits raises his hands into the air. The next words he spoke would only be audible to Kail as Rivers attaches a tunnel to him.
"I suppose I've been an ass, but eh~ what can you do? Happens after a lot of ale and testosterone. Anyways, Claire's execution is going to be a public event, she's charged with an assassination attempt on the king. You are not required to help, but if you want to then what is needed more than anything else is a distraction. Something that will draw a lot of attention. I am sure someone with knowledge of some science can come up with something."
As Rivers continues to walk away he fishes a pair of gems out of his pocket. "These are on the house, see if you can do something with them." Kail would find a Shadow and Storm Gem in his pocket, it appeared as though Rivers has slight of handed them there at some point when they were close together.

Kail was about to answer Serenity until Rivers had started to speak to him from behind and was trying to feel if he was behind him and strike behind him. But was too drained emotionally to really and would give him a chance to talk. Surprised that Rivers had a change of heart. He then hears about what was happening to Claire and that utterly made his head turn. For the few times he met the woman. She did not seem like the type to be an assassin, maybe a rouge of some sort but not something like that. The blond nods at what he would be needed to do if he wanted to help. He knew some science just from some TV shows, magazines, and books. Not a insane expert on the matter but knew some stuff. Then he felt something in his pocket and feels the two gems in there. Kail gives a affirmative nod of his head as he was going to show up "I'll have something ready by then, if not I have something else I can do. Just get going I'm too spent" he said and then turns to Serenity.
"Look, why don't we go somewhere that has better clientell.....I've had a bit too much to drink. Would you mind if you accompany me then. Since you are concerned about my wellbeing" said Kail as he knew that he had but the redhead through a lot with some of his shinanigans as of late. He needed to cut back on any kind of alcohol since he was getting too effected by the stuff.

Serenity looked up, once again silent as Rivers returned for the moment. Her eyes were down and her hair fell around her face, framing it. Once he left, and Serenity had no idea of what they spoke about, she looked up to Kail once more, hearing his words.
Yes, that would be wonderful. Come to think of it, drinking may not be the best idea. Though she herself had only had a glass of wine, she wasn't aware of how much he had. She smiled, and gestured that they begin walking. She didn't know where they would go, but she felt like he'd have an idea. He didn't look drunk, but his outburst did prove otherwise. She only wondered if she would be able to help, in whatever it is that was bothering him. Rivers may have caused the anger, but there seemed to be something more now.
Of course I am concerned for your wellbeing Mr. Lancaster! How could I not be? You helped me when I needed it the most, for me to turn my back on you now, would be sinful. She held her head up high and began to walk, assuming he would be walking with her.

"Thanks" said Kail simply as they started to head out of the third district. He was not sure if there would be another place to go. As most food places only had alcohol due to water being unsafe to drink in most areas. He seriously needed to get a water purifiying spell for his sanity. The idea of a restaurant would be a truly forien idea to those of this era. He looks around and finds a square that had a moderate amount of people and found a bench like seat in a corner and just sat down on it. "Sometimes I just wonder why life hates me so much" he said sarcasticly. Luck was not with him at all, although he was taking down the dragon and getting that house. But everything after that seemed though that everything was stacked against him. "I get a good high then things just deadfall and drop like a rock" he also now had to contend with on saving Claire or not. He could understand perhaps jail time then a straight out execution. It just seemed to extreme for him as this thought in his head was going over and over. Claire was not a cold blooded or psychopathic killing machine. If he wanted to talk a bit more of his thoughts to Serenity. He would need a more private place as not to bring attention to himself or Rivers.
