Lucinda's face settled into musing, visible occasionally through the blonde curtain that was her wind whipped hair, as Aria explained about the phiorics. "This sounds familiar, I'm pretty sure either you mentioned this before or I read it somewhere. Either way, that is awful, the poor dears. I'm so very glad you didn't get lost,"she said, sounding rather like she meant it.
The conversation turned back to Palico and its princess sighed, sounding disappointed. "Yes, you are quite right about all of it and it pains me so. It's one of the reason I enjoy Nova. It's more relaxed here and naturally beautiful. Not everything's built of cold, hard stone. I don't desire to run Palico myself. The city and I share entirely different ideals," she said, speaking as though it were a living, breathing thing.
She relaxed a bit as Aria asked about suitors, a topic she considered rather more amusing than the state of her home kingdom. "There's a lot of rules and such, yes. Silas, as the head of the family, has the main responsibility of seeing me wed, since our parents are gone. He desires to use me to his political advantage and so, of course, likely has many potential suitors in mind from neighboring areas. I'm assuming, anyway, because I understand how this is supposed to work. However, he did grant me leave to look for suitors on my own accord, so I'm going to take advantage of that," she explained, getting the nitty gritty of it out of the way.
"As for what I want for myself, you know, no one's every asked me that honestly," Lucinda said, looking both thoughtful and somehow sad at the question. "All my life, I've been groomed for my position as a princess and that's how people see me. Some days, I hate it. I want to be a nobody. I suppose that's why I sneak out of the castle, and why I bought the indivisibility cloak," she admitted, then realizing who she was talking to, quickly blushed. "I'm sorry! Please don't misunderstand. I do appreciate the ease of the life that I've had. It's just that all the political and proper business gets rather annoying. So many of my court are dishonest because they want to please me or my brother," The princess paused, looking over at Aria. "I admire you so, to the point of envy really. You've had a hard life, but it's been yours and no one else's. I cannot say the same."
