Acacia stood meekly sipping her wine as Lady Melda, Lady Ansely, and Diamond all talked amongst themselves. She was obviously uncomfortable with the situation. When Lady Wurud approached them and offered for them to join her with the host and the princess, Acacia couldn't help the sigh of relief and smile that came to her face. "Thank you, Lady Wurud. That would be most appreciated! I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you, officially. My name is Baroness Acacia Sutherland," she answered, not wanting to forget her manners and giving Aria a nice curtsy. After a moment of thought, Acacia added, "I've never met the princess and I would also like to thank our generous host for this wonderful party, as well." At about the same time, a duo of cello players took the stage, which momentarily drew her attention. She hummed along for a moment, smiling, as the upbeat music filled the room.
The young baroness followed Aria back over to the group once everyone else had agreed to do so. Shortly after, they were joined by a very familiar face and Acacia grinned, clearly thrilled. “ Thank you, Theo! You’re looking very handsome this evening, I hope you’ve been well? We haven’t seen each other in ages. What have you been up to?” she greeted her old friend. In a more relaxed environment she might be inclined to even give him a hug, but here in public would not go over well.
Of course, Acacia was keeping an eye on the princess so she noticed when the other royal starting looking at her and Ansely. Acacia gave her a smile, dropping into a low curtsy and listening as the princess properly introduced herself. She found she respected her more for not waiting for Lady Wurud or Lady Melda to bridge that gap in ranking. “It’s an honor to make your acquaintance, Princess Lucinda. I am Baroness Acacia Sutherland,” she said, smiling. Acacia turned to their host who was waiting on the princess to dance. “Count Vladimir, this party is wonderful. Thank you for inviting me,” she added, watching the two of them when they went to dance. He was surprisingly good on his feet for someone who had tripped twice already.
