Melda laughed bitterly. Oh Adrain, you haven’t the slightest idea yet. Just wait until you witness all this yourself. Though you get used to reigning in your magic over time; however you’re going into this with the King already aware of your powers; he grew up unaware of mine. She shrugged, knowing full well that was thanks to her mother. “Keep hidden that which was not meant to be seen.” That mantra repeated in her head daily, her mother had rang that one home.
You know… me either. They just want to make lives for themselves here; its the only way they’ll survive. Mind you, I’ve only met a few, but they’ve all done great things for themselves. For example, Duchess Wurud. She’s fated, but she’s done wonderfully for herself! A Duchess of Palico… a Fated. I highly doubt anyone could have predicted that. There are so many people day to day who are fated, but we can’t tell because they’ve begun to blend in with us, and I think that’s wonderful. Melda was rarely comfortable talking about her stance on the Fated, but Adrain, she highly doubted, would use this against her.
As he went on to talk about Roland, Melda listened avidly. I must agree with you on that. Roland doesn’t strike me as the type to enchant romance; he’ll he never striked me as the type to want romance. His marriage came as quite the shock. Though… It is hard to imagine you purely a work person. Mind you, I know nothing of what happened while you helped fight the siege, nor do I really know you all that well now, but you don’t strike me as the type who just wants to be alone; very different from me. She added that last part for the humour, to keep the mood light.
Personal experiences? Whether its the wine or not, I fully expect you to tell me now! She laughed whole heartedly, drinking her own wine again, leaving it at just below half glass. Hmmm. You just assured me that I shouldn’t become a teacher. I doubt i would have the patience to do your job. Though I do understand change, it is difficult to watch sometimes. She shrugged and watched warily as he stepped towards her with a smile.
Last time I answered a question like that, you turned me into a mermaid…

Time would pass and conversation would be abound. Tales of old, tales of yore, tales of new, tales that try to avoid bore. As the sun sat and the shadows of the night began to take hold, Adrain would begin walking around the Terrace, igniting spheres of crystal that begin to radiate heat enough to keep the outside premises comfortable. The sensation of the sunlight fading from the leaves of the Arch caused them to become more rigid, reaching for the highest point they can where the air is just ever so slightly purer, regardless of how little it actually changes in height.
At this point, Adrain would grow quiet at whatever the subject had drifted to at that moment and watched. The air of mana density would surge as the tree begins to expel the energy, the shades taking on a prismatic hue rising and forming an aurora over the tree, resembling velvet of various mana types in a quilt of light overhead. After allowing Melda time to watch in quiet, unless she commented sooner, he would state one thing.
"Unofficially, they call this the Gaze of Heaven. Most people don't get to view this from any of the major cities since the light dissipates after a certain point but I like to think that when you see something such as this, people re-evaluate their place in the greater creation of things. It's about as close as traditional arcane thinking leads to divinity conventionally." he says, then taking a quiet to watch the lit sky waiting for response, not having any other comments to add.

Melda Delsaran Vanya As the time passed, Melda quite enjoyed her time spent with the Headmaster, as well as their various points of discussion. She hadn’t engaged in such conversation in quite some time, and it was very refreshing for her. When it grew dark he lit crystal orbs of light and Melda marvelled at their beauty. Their conversation had tapered off as the nights sky shifted. Seeing where Adrain was looking, Melda looked up as well, her eyes quickly finding the aura of beautiful lights.
She was thankful for the moment of silence, as she had no words in that moment. When he did start speaking again, she didn’t turn her head, but continued staring up at the sky. Its not like anything I’ve ever witnessed before. But my mother said she did, once. She all but whispered, feeling like raising her voice would disturb the sight before her.
After a few more moments of silence, Melda tore her gaze from the sky and looked to Adrain. Thank you for showing me this. She spoke, still soft, a small smile on her face.

Adrain was curious as to the mother whom had seen this once, but he didn't ask. Someone perhaps long since moved on to the next world, certainly well before his own time in the Arch. Was there a beau with another headmaster in the past or something? He supposed that there would need to be a climb to see the aurora in whatever day that was. As Melda thanked him for showing him this, he nodded.
"I'm glad you could enjoy. While most students can see the aurora to varying degree, very few see it from this angle." he says, then the time catching up to him as he thought for a moment. "It has been charming having you here Lady Vanya, but I do imagine it won't be long before I need to take you back to the palace unless you wish to use a guest quarters for the night. Either way, I would like to give you something before departing." he states, disappearing in a purple flash of mana before reappearing a few minutes later. He offers Melda a silk pouch, within would be an enchanted sand surrounding a ring. The ring would be a simple design of gold and silver, but held power that Melda would know.
"I know that you likely wish to use your magic more than you are allowed to in the waking world. While this won't be as potent as the ARC, this will serve as a substitute. If you wear this ring as you sleep, you will be lucid in your dreams and able to control to some extent what goes on as well as act freely. At the very least you can practice whilst your body rests or use the time for something or another. I ban these from the campus usually because it has happened that students sleep their lives away to live out fantasies, but I trust you would be wiser than that. In any case, the nobles who might judge of the court or the King won't be privy to what goes on within your slumber and you have a new form of freedom."

Melda Delsaran Vanya Melda nodded as he spoke, turning her attention to him fully now. Well I would imagine not, unless you let them come up here- or if they can fly. Melda smiled, being a wee bit sarcastic. Her mother could fly, so there was humour in that for herself, but she wouldn’t expect him to know that- not unless he had read over her mothers file as well as her own- presuming her mother had one. You are correct, I will be heading back to the castle soon. As delightful as this as been, spending the night here could quite easily create rumours that I don’t wish to deal with. Thank you though. She responded politely before he disappeared.
She looked back up to the sky again, wishing she could take a picture with her mind. Although she did have a very good memory, she knew it wouldn’t do the real thing justice. When Adrain finally returned, Melda looked at him curiously. She took the pouch from him, opening it carefully and pulling out the ring to look at it. Her face was very confused and her eyebrows furrowed. However once he began talking, her face slowly relaxed, understanding his gift. This is very kind of you. Thank you very much. She smiled warmly, placing the ring back in its pouch and looking back up to the lights for a moment.
Today has been a lot of fun. More than I’ve have in some time now- I thank you for that.
