On the allocated day, the individual known as Selkiris would be asked to come to the entrance to the Arena through the participants gate. It was a C ranked bout, one that only those who really enjoyed watching combat would watch and the lowest priced admission tickets. The stands would be filled partially with lower income sorts of people as well as the odd merchant or combat enthusiast. Of course, player characters more than welcome to be a part of the watching crowd. The arena would be dusty, a faint scent of blood in the air from a previous bout. The time would be in the mid-morning, since the time slots for later were often reserved for the more higher profile bouts. As Selkiris would pass the various guards and gladiators, both wounded and otherwise, he would be urged by a gruff man in armor coated in blood to the arena floor, the wooden gates slamming behind him as he entered. The crowd would murmur at his entrance as the herald called out. "We have fresh blood today folks! A man from parts unknown, known only as Selkiris to us comes to test his mettle in the arena! Will he gain riches and make his way here or will he be brought low like others before him!" the larger man in colorful, silver dominated attire would shout as another gate opens. A large, lumbering ogre, eight feet tall with a pot belly barely covered by tattered furs enters. His bald, single eye scans the arena as he yawns, picks up his large club seemingly little more than a poorly carved part of a tree, and roars, running toward Selkiris with it raised. The ground would shake and tremble as he approached, a strong overhead swing coming for the shadowy man. Selkiris

Selkiris had been training for this fight for a while. He mostly did it for the money but he also was interested in seeing how well he could fight. He made a promise to himself though. Unless absolutely necessary he wasn't going to use his magic to summon beasts. He needed to keep his profile low. Selkiris had decided to wear his robes during this battle. Strange attire to be sure but its not like he had any clothing that could properly help him. He was unreactive when the wooden gates slammed behind him. He merely smiled at the crowded murmuring.
Selkiris looked at the orge. A dumb creature so it would be best to fight strategically, just don't let it hit you Selkiris, one hit and it could be over He smiled and already had a plan as the creature charged him. When the orge swung Selkiris rolled out of the way and beelined it for its knees. He wanted to try and get the orge lower to the ground so he could deal with it easier. If he got close enough he would unsheathe his sword and jab it it directly behind the knee cap in an attempt to make it loose balance.

The ogre's club comes down viciously on the spot where Selkiris was, or at least where he used to be as a thunderous boom fills the arena. The large humanoid chuckles with a deep tone as he blurted out 'Got yuh' in barely comprehensible common. When he lifted his club though, he was confused. Where was the blood splatter? The scent of crushed meat?
The answer would be met by a sharp pain in the back leg of the creature as the Ogre howls in anger, swatting at Selkiris with it's empty hand but the momentum and awkwardness of the wound would cause him to fall for a moment, a large boom felt through the arena. The Ogre flails wildly to rise to it's feet, stomping and stamping whilst slamming it's club down blindly in all directions.

Selkiris barely dodge he swat. He could actually feel his heart rise out of his chest when the orgec landed. He hadn't expected the ogre to make that much of a landing, even with its large size. As the ogre flailed Selkiris only watched in disgust. The creature had resembled a child throwing a temper tantrum. No not yet, he didnt need a beast to get its way in there. Though it would be quick and the battle likely easier, it wouldn't be very entertaining. Selkiris would jab the ogre where ever he could. It left him open to attack though as he was focused on trying to hit the vital parts of the ogre.
"You are a rather dumb creature aren't you? No matter. I'll make this as painful as possible." Selkiris spoke as he tried to stab the orge. He was in deep thought, was his master watching him? This arena was technically for the gods entertainment as well as the people so he wasn't sure if his master would even be able to see this. It didn't matter though, he was going to fight in the name of the Ancient One.

The Ogre would be picked at and stabbed several times by Selkiris while he himself kept trying to keep up and swat at the smaller target. Each time the shady one would barely evade, culminating in the Ogre leaping up in a frenzied rage and landing hard on the ground, smashing his club at the same time for double impact causing a small quake to erupt through the arena, cracks to manifest in the sand and a substantial amount of force trying to put Selkiris off footing

When the ogre quaked the arena Selkiris fell flat on the ground. He tried to get up but he was a bright red target for the ogre as he did so. No. No he couldn't.....this wasn't a horrible situation just yet. Selkiris carefully got back up and picked his sword back up, he was still a little dazed from the fall though. "W-Well....what do you know? The idiot knows tactics. Or was I just pissing you off? Yes I must have just been extremely annoying. I really shouldn't have expected much from you, you idiotic brute." Selkiris really should have stopped with the insults, he was just pissing the orge off more. Then again this was rather amusing.

The Ogre launches itself at Selkiris as he begins his taunt, an overhead swing coming for the shrouded man, not in the least bit elegant but the brute strength behind it a threat none the less. Hit or miss, the club would become stuck in a small crack made by the Ogre's quake just before, leaving its side open if Selkiris should survive

Selkiris barely evaded the club swing, tripping on one of the small cracks made by the Orge's recent quake. He had noticed his robe had gotten stuck in the crack.....and it seemed to be rather stuck. If he stayed here he was he was going to die and he didn't feel like ditching his robes yet. Only one thing to do.... Selkiris raised his right hand and his dark seal began to glow. He murmured something and a small pitch black portal appeared, a pure black, human-wolf hybrid on all fours crawling out of the hole. Selkirs pointed to the Ogre's side and merely said one simple word. "Kill." The creatures jaw seemed to unhinge and the spines on it's back stood on end as it gave off an ear splitting screech. It charged at the Ogre at full speed and leaped at it's side, trying to latch on with it's razor sharp claws and tear at it.

The Ogre, not paying Selkiris much attention at the time found itself latched onto by the shadowy creature. It howls and flails but the creature is able to relatively easily rip asunder the flailing Ogre, as the creature falls down to it's side, bleeding and being chewed at and ripped apart gradually by the monster. The Ogre simply whimpers out one thing ""Mommy..."
In due time, the Ogre would meet it's last breath, leaving the crowd stunned at the display.

Selkiris easily watched as his shadow beast tore open the Ogre. Once the Ogre died Selkiris nonchalantly approached the corpse and tore a piece of it off with his blade, tossing it to the shadow beast for a job well done. The beast quickly grabbed the piece it's master had given it and crawled down into another black portal much like the one it entered in. Selkiris carefully wiped off any blood that got on him during the fight and began to walk off towards the exit. Not saying a word. Really he was just hoping the gods had watched that display, because he swore there would be much more like that to come in the future.
