MATURE THEMES
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- Respect each other. Teair Nova is a safe place where all are welcome, so please exercise understanding of race, religion, age, gender, and sexuality. While characters may be racist/homophobic/transphobic/ageist/ableist/sizeist/sexist/ we do not tolerate that behavior in our members. If another member ever makes you feel uncomfortable for any reason or if anything ever affects your enjoyment of the game, please tell a staff member. We are always available to help and we work hard to maintain a friendly, safe, and fair community.
- Please keep content posted in the OOC areas PG-13 level. In other words, keep sexual references and profanity a reasonable level, or at least mark the thread as R or M if it does go beyond PG-13. Other than that, It should be a relaxed, comfortable environment for everyone.
- Activity Checks happen once a month and it's either at the beginning or at the end of the month. To keep your character's safe from being placed in the crypt; Plus to make sure you are not squatting -- The Character account needs to be active with at least 1 post during each week during the month. So that is a minimum count of 4 posts during that month.... Not that difficult for a minimum post requirement to be considered safe and active within the story.
- OCC Planning is strongly discouraged; as anything can happen in game. Planning it out ahead not only takes the fun out of rp it also ruffles feathers when things do not go according to plan. Which often can and will happen.
JOINING AND CHARACTER CREATION
- We're an account for every character, however, we expect that you keep your characters active. So we suggest a Five character limit per player.
- Teair is an open world where you can have your character come from a different world. That's right! You can have a character no be from Teair at all!.. However; the moment your character enters into the world of Teair as a 'Fated' . He/she will be stripped down to 'mortal' status; Which means the fated character only has what they carried in on person. ((PLEASE NOTE: The Fated Option is currently CLOSED.))
- Once an application has been submitted, if unfinished you must have it completed within a 7 day period to it being posted. If failed to do so, the sheet will be moved to the Crypt. Once posted, if the Application Mod or any other staff marks it "Pending", you will be contacted shortly after with the changes they require you to make. Once the PM is sent requesting changes, player has 7 days to make those changes. If no changes have been made after the 7 day mark, the sheet will be moved to the Crypt.
- Powerful characters, even god-like entities, can be created! But we must ask for no omnipotent, all-powerful, capital-G Gods who are responsible for the creation and upkeep of time and space and life itself. Give your powerful characters a limit! For every character can be killed in this world.
- Feel free to create your own species and cultures within the world. Wanna play your own brand of fae, unicorn-human, elf or whatever else you can come up with? Go for it! Here is where you can add in your own race or choose from the selection we have. Wanna make your own small village? Knock yourself out! Entire nations and kingdoms, however, need to be approved first.. Just head to balma's shop for purchasing homes, guilds, factions, etc. ((PLEASE NOTE: Teair Nova is not currently accepting admissions for new Races. However, if you had something in mind, still feel free to pm a staff member.))
ROLE-PLAYING
- Don't Break the World. Characters should not reference events, people, religions, and cultures from other worlds or time lines to the Npc civilians. If your character is from another world that has higher technology and he/she have been brought into Teair Nova in some magical fashion; Such as being Fated -- Then beware what you say due to the fact the natives don't take kindly to strange things that are not from Teair or what they do not understand. Technology such as cell phones, TV, and cars don't exist in Teair! Guns that are brought into the world will be confiscated on sight and if not confiscated then in a matter of days the gun will dissolve. ( in other words no guns for your characters please UNLESS given special permission or a gun is HIGHLY altered - Gun powder does not exist in the world because of magic; Other than that long ranged weapons are bows, slingshots, crossbows or magical powered ranged weapon. )
- This is a consent-based game. Players have the option of setting their own limits regarding their character and what can happen to it. No one can kill, control, or alter another player's character without that player's permission.
**** In certain cases when certain conditions are met, a person can bypass this rule and request permission from staff. Which the reasons must be stated, make sense, and then be approved by the entire staff unanimously. A consequence will then be decided and ruled out by staff for the murderer.
- In-character actions result in in-character consequences. If your character breaks the law, they may be caught. Likewise, characters may be promoted or demoted in rank. That or get sick with a disease, cursed, the list goes on...Anything can happen in Teair.
- Character choices are to be made with ONLY character knowledge, not by player's. It's recommended that players make a decision for a character based on the information the character has. Also to avoid discussing possible outcomes prior to their decision. What make Teair special is in game cause and effect. That core tenant of our play cannot be upheld if players are avoiding negative consequences for their characters. If a player is caught using OOC knowledge of consequences to make IC decisions, it is a bannable offense.
- Beware of your interactions with other characters when out in public or around others. What goes on is fair game to share with other PCs or NPCs. So take heed and write out reasonable protection from prying eyes or eager ears if you're having a secretive conversation; news spreads quickly and easily around the kingdom of Nova.
- Please exercise realism in your role-play and remember that while limits are to be respected, they also cannot be used to escape consequences.
- Make sure it's in Story. If your character has done something truly amazing or has written a letter to another character; Please try and actually write it out in game or send the letter through the correspondence guild so it can be seen. It's hard to remember everything when so much is going on at once in the world. So if you say your character has done something and it's not on the forum; meaning, it's not in game or in your character's profile history then its hard to say that character actually did those things.
- Spells and Abilities - All characters have some sort of attribute or something that helps them survive in the world. Even fated upon entering the world will have something to help them survive. Be it magic or physical abilities or weapons/armor of some sort. Either way all characters start off with either two spells, two abilities, or one spell and one ability. The spell, ability, item starting off at Novice level upon acquiring it ( or if fated over the moment you enter the world.) the Spell, ability, or item. Even Balma's Spells and items will start off at Novice level upon purchase. When learning a spell, the learned spell will be at a novice level. You can upgrade your levels by options. First.) by training in game your ability or spell - practice makes you stronger as they say, plus you can learn other peoples abilities and spells if you train with another character. Second.) option is purchasing tickets at Balma's custom shop where you can buy custom items, spells, and etc. to find out more about the Levels visit Balma's Custom Shop.
example of what your beginning spell or ability would look like in your application form:
Spell/Ability Title - Novice level - Description of spell or ability.
The same will go for magical weapons or magical armor. - All NEW Fated Characters start their journey in Gallows Bane a recently made settlement underground in the world of Teair Nova. Your Fated Character is teleported to the area known as the Alter. Which is where your Fated character makes their introduction into the world and can begin their journey out into the world of Teair. Note: When a fated first arrives in bane at the Alter, they are given a map and given a survival pack before leaving Gallows Bane. ((PLEASE NOTE: The Fated Option is currently CLOSED.))
- If you are new to role-playing and are wondering how fighting works, then you can click here to read a quick role-playing guide to non-stat fighting. Try to be realistic with your combat style, even if you are using something so non-realistic like magic. Your character(s) can't dodge every attack and not be exhausted after a while; even magic takes a toll on a mortal's body after so many spells or high-level spell are cast more than once. Remember exhaustion is a real thing and your characters can get injured or worse.
WRITING
- Please write in third-person. past tense.
- We run on liquid time. Your characters can be in as many threads as you wish. Be sure to keep track of your own timelines by using a Character Tracker or by simply updating your character sheet. If you click here, we have a thread of all our seasons, months and holidays to help you keep track.
- There are no posting orders in group threads. If players would like a posting order, they are welcome to establish that with their group.
- Mature Threads must be tagged [mature], [R] or [M]. Private threads should be marked [Private], [Closed], or [Players' name(s)]. Open threads should be marked with [Open] in the thread description. You may also request that players PM you before they Join. Threads left untagged will be assumed open. Anyone is free to join open threads at any time. If you no longer want people to join your own open thread, please be sure to change the tag description!
MATURE THEMES
Mature themes involving graphic violence, drug use, sex, sexual abuse, and other such "mature" topics can and do appear in some threads and plots. You must make sure that any other players involved in the thread are comfortable with these subjects prior to writing them. Please be mature, tasteful, and responsible when dealing with these subjects.
By participating in threads containing mature content, you are agreeing that you and your partner are 18 years of age or older.
Please use trigger warnings for common triggery subjects. This can be done by placing a note in the thread description under the thread title. For example - TW: rape/abuse/self harm/suicide/etc.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- Please do not use font colors that are hard to read or ridiculous font sizes for your in-character posts. We need to be able to read what you are saying.
- Avatars can be no larger than 150x150 pixels. Larger mini-profile character images can be no larger than 250x350 pixels. Signature graphics can be no larger than 600 x 200 pixels. It's recommended that you keep a list of all the characters you play in your signature.
- User-submitted lore becomes site-canon upon approval. Once that content is site-canon, it is part of the game and thus belongs to all present and future players for the purpose of Role-playing. Bear that in mind when/if you decide to submit your ideas.
- The STAFF Team have the right to change the rules at any time if seen fit. The rules are here to help provide a fun place to role play without the hassle of stats.
