Yuki looked up at Adrain wondering if he had seen his response not even a few seconds later confirm that he has seen her undergarments. Her cheeks redden even more honestly how was she look him in the eye from now on, it was different when it was the group in the hot springs together since she had at least been more dressed then but now man who wasn't her husband or her lady in waiting has seen them, now she had to burn them for sure.


Standing up she kept her eyes everywhere but on Adrain, as she dusted off her dress a little. She did see Aolani's looking at her giving her what she assumed was the horse's way of laughing at her. Turning from the horse she looked at the wall once again anything to keep her mind off of the embarrassing moment that just happened a few moments ago. Closing her eyes once again she focuses on the mana in the air, with each breath slowly drawing it into her body and releasing only a small amount until she got comfortable with it. Slowly letting the mana flow though her body and guiding it towards her fist she threw her as she moved her hands to her chest as threw a punch. As her fist came in contact with the wall the mana around her dispelled into the air leaving only a small indent in the wall.


Taking a step back she looked at the wall wondering if maybe she did somethign wrong. Or maybe it was lack of proper self-defence training that caused her to not be able to do more damage. She was going to turn and look at Adrain when she remembered what happened not even a couple of mintunes ago.

"You've got the basic principle down, but you need to allow yourself to pull more in. You're letting your flustered state of mind keep you from relaxing properly and letting the mana flow. What happened a moment ago was an accident, don't worry about it, it was my fault for suggesting a kick and not recognizing that complication." he says looking at Yuki with a soft, calming smile as he looks back at the wall.

"Though you want to push the mana force out just before contact, physical strength is really only about a fifth of the equation, it's why this form of self defense is great for those who don't have a fighter's physique since your mana potential allows you to get much more power than your body alone is capable of producing." he says as he then leans back heavily on his right foot and holds his hand up in a martial pose as he draws air into himself and forms a visible mass of wind around his hand maintaining it.

"This is a more instinctual sort of ability than a complex spell, don't overthink it." he says, maintaining the wind mass and letting Yuki try once more when she was ready.

Taking in what Adrain had said that she tried to calm herself from and forget the embarrassing moment. It was easier for him to say but she would try for now to forget for now. Grabbing a lock of her hair that had come undone she started to fiddle with it as she continued to watched and listen Adrain. Taking a few deep breaths until she felt a little better but she did wish that she had some tea since it always relaxed her no matter what happened.


Feeling ready she took a couple more deep breaths as she copied Adrain's martial pose to the best of her ablity. As she breathes, she pulled the mana in allowing herself to feel comfortable with it. It still surprised her how magic felt so natural to her even though she only discovered that she could preform it just a few months back. Feeling mana flowing within her, she convernted the mana into wind and pushed it to her fist. Feeling the wind around her hand, seeing it form a visible mass swirling with a small mix of green from the mana. Taking one last deep breath she punched the wall, watching as the clay shatter from the impact of the wind.


A large smile on her lips as she giggled excited that she was able to do it. Excited that she was able to do it she turned and threw her arms around Adrain in her excitment. "I did it. I actically did it." Realizing what she was doing she quickly let go of Adrain standing back a little bit. "Uh sorry."

Adrain watched as Yuki mimicked what he did, noting that she still had nervousness and knowing well enough that it was easier said than done to forget the embarrassing moment when you are the one embarrassed. He saw that she seemed to emulate the ability well and the results from the wall breaking was evidence. He was surprised when she leapt at him and embraced him, halfway returning the embrace so as to not dampen her enthusiasm before she hopped back embarrassed.

"That's good, now it's just a matter of making sure you can do it consistently and on demand. When you are confident you can handle the punch, you can then shift to the kick when you are in a more appropriate outfit. You can also try to do the full body wind burst when you feel up to it, though that might cause a worse issue in your current outfit." he says as he then holds his hand as some thicker walls made of slate manifest from the ground.

"Or we can try a different sort of spell if you like." he offers.

"Consistently and on demand. You mean doing it without thinking, so like breathing?" She asked as she mulled over the fact. It would take her some time to be confident not just using the skill but also in herself since she always second guess herself. Then she did have to think about proper clothes since she didn't have much training clothes since her mother decided that she didn't need to learn any type of combat.


Shaking her head at the mention of trying a different sort of spell. "Um... instead of a different spell could you teach me a little bit more self-defense." Her voice quiet as her left hand moved to her mouth covering it a little, her nervousness showing. She still wasn't over her panic of something attacking her from behind but she did still want to learn even if it sent her into another frozen fear.

"Yes, you are still early in your training so it sounds more daunting to hear that but as time and practice take root, you will get more and more natural. You have a lot of talent believe it or not, you've progressed much in a relatively short time. I think you've always had a sort of destiny with magic" he says with an assuring smile. It was important to keep Yuki's confidence and self esteem high for this, magic didn't yield to the weak willed, rather it would try to consume them. The more confident Yuki could be, the greater her potential.

When she made intention known to want to learn more combat training, his lips thinned as he remembered the last time he tried to teach. Inducing a panic attack would not help her learn and probably stop any training all together. Maybe a spell or a potion could resolve it.

"Well I agree there is value in making certain you learn self defense, but we have to do something about your fear. Conditioning through repetition is slow, but maybe some sort of super calming tea or potion could help, I could get a tome on mental magic though I am not that versed in it compared to elemental. Either way, perhaps we should go to the Arch for that sort of training since physical training will require more contact and potentially exposure than I doubt you want to be seen in the wild doing. We could always use the ARC Chamber to remove the pain aspect completely as well."

As soon as Adrain had finished talking, a surge of mana erupts a small ways off as the Archmage is suddenly enveloped in ice, leaving a block of ice in front of Yuki. A trio of men approach wearing earthy colored leather armor and with short blades in each hand as they chuckle sinisterly.

"We'll thaw out the mage and kill him as soon as we get her off somewhere for the market...get her." a taller one with gray hair and glowing blue eyes states as the other two thugs, unremarkable in appearance chuckle a little and approach Yuki.

Yuki was about to ask Adrain if he thought that she was ready to take the entrance exam for Arch of Ages when he turned into a block of ice. Placing her hand on the Adrainicle she heard male voices and looked to see three men approaching her. Looking around panicking wondering why Aolani was but the horse was nowhere to be found, most likely having taken off to find some green grass to graze on while Yuki had been learning some new spells. Hearing that they plan to sell her on the market and then kill Adrain, she backed up a little. Her mind replaying everything that happened last time she was in a similar situation. Without thinking, she drew the glyph for the flight spell as she kicked off the ground to hover in the air out of the reach of the men.


The only thing she could think of was to get away from them but then she remembered they were going to kill Adrain and she couldn’t leave him like this. Her heart was racing as she reminded in the air hovering knowing that she wouldn’t be able to maintain the spell forever and that she needed to protect Adrain. Her breathing at this point was heavy almost to the point it seemed like her body was struggling to circulate the oxygen fully though her body. Inside her brain was running though as many possible ideas on how to get Adrain and herself to safety and possibility alerting guards. They were too far off for her to fly back to the city and return since by the time she gets back Adrain could be dead. She then though of thawing Adrain but she didn’t know any fire spells it was then it clicked maybe she could increase the air temperature like Adrain had been trying to teach her earlier but she wasn’t sure if she could do it since last time it back fired on her, resulting in her getting a minor burn on her hand.


“I have to try.” She said to herself trying to mutter up as much courage and confidence in herself. “Stay back and leave here now…. Or else I will have to hurt you.” She said loudly and trying to project some confident behind the empty threat as she was shaking where she floated. Sending a silent pray to all of the deities but mostly to Caster help her. Cupping her hands together as she stared at the guy with the glowing blue eyes, as she did her best to calm but failed as she drew in in the mana and released it in her hand to form a small orb of compacted air. “I mean it… leave now or else.” Her voice trembling as she compressed the air more in her hands, that as soon as one of them even took a step or moved a finger she was going to throw it at them.

"Oh look at the pretty little butterfly..." the one with the glowing eyes states with a sneer, clearly not taking Yuki as a threat by his posture. "Boys! Clip her wings, flight spells don't last long."

With that, the two lesser thugs with short swords approach Yuki, looking at her like she were a tasty piece of meat waiting for the flight spell to wear off. They call at her, saying things like 'come a little closer sweet cheeks, you're not getting away from us' and 'we won't bite...much.' to her.

Yuki saw that he wasn’t taking her as a serious threat, seeing the other two getting closer to her with their swords taunting her. Throwing the small air orb at the men who were taunting her. “Stay back I mean it this time.” She said as she felt the flight spell starting to wear off she couldn’t run away from them if she landed now but she couldn’t leave Adrain. Making a quick decision that she pushed herself as fast she could towards the other side of the clearing before landing and standing her ground.



“Be brave.” She said to herself, taking calming deep breaths knowing that if she closed her eyes for a moment that it might be the end of her and Adrain. “Now leave or else I will hurt you,” Yuki said as she remembered Adrain’s lesson she just needed to try and not over think it. Digging deep down she summons the mana to her hands not realising that her eyes took on a red glow for a few moments as she summoned the mana to her hands and converting it to air forming a wind sphere. Controlling the wind sphere in her hand, feeling the air swirling around demanding to be released from the bindings, taking a few seconds she aimed and threw the sphere with all her might at the creepy male with the glowing eyes. “Aolani!” She said calling out for her horse as a last-ditch effort.

The glowing eyes male doesn't fully expect the aggressiveness from the petite girl as the burst of air contacts and launches him off his feet several feet in the air and flying hard into the ground, rolling and not moving at first, clearly stunned by the impact and having the wind taken out of him, har har.

The other two thugs seem startled that their boss was attacked and both begin to run at Yuki, blades raised as they try to close the gap and grab her arms with their empty hands.

Yuki watched as the sphere hit the man and sent him flying it was unexpected since all she expected it to do was push him back. It felt strange to know that she could hold a power like this and never knew about it then again, her life wasn’t completely normal, to begin with. Seeing the two other guys running towards her, she started to panic as fear started to commune her from inside out. All the courage that she had just a few moments ago, gone with the small burst of mana as the men reached her she let out an ear-piercing scream.



Aolani had heard Yuki call her and was taking her time not thinking that her little one was in danger. That was until she heard the voice of her little rider screaming as if someone was going to murder her. Flapping her wings, she took off wondering what could have happened during the time that she left the child and the male to cause her to be acting as if her life depended on it. Upon reaching the clearing she left Yuki in, she saw Yuki being manhandled by thugs, Adrian frozen in a block of ice and another man down on the ground. Flapping her wings, she flew down towards Yuki using her front legs to try and knock one of the males off the girl child.

The scream in Yuki's moment of terror had a sonic element to it that amplified it considerably. Cracks begin to appear on the faces of the men while they held their head in pain. As the house came charging in, stomping one of the thugs, he shatters? Yes, shatters into clumps of dried mud which contains illusory magic if Yuki can sense raw arcane based mana. At this point, all three of the thugs seemingly fall apart into clay fragments.

"That was good Yuki." Adrain's voice says from above, the archmage sitting in a tree with strings of mana fading from his fingers. "I figured you might want to work on self defense again at some point, especially since I sensed a familiar presence far off when I was in the sewers during a certain incident awhile back." he says, sliding off from the tree, landing on the ground in a kneeling pose for a moment.

"So I came up with this bit of a plan. You see, you need to overcome your fear to really be able to move more into a self defense regimen, but it wouldn't really work if you felt like you were safe and such as I would back off if you showed signs of a problem like in the ARC chamber back during winter. So I figured you could handle a small scare and people find courage when faced with a situation that not only impacts them, but others they might care about to whatever extent. Plus, it seems you tapped into a little latent potential there, I didn't expect the mage clay golem to be taken out that fast...: he says, rubbing the back of his head.

"For what it's worth, I'm sorry, but I think you did really well! You're definitely ready in terms of power for the Arch exams."

Yuki started when her screams of terror caused the men to stop and cover their ears, then when the cracks appeared she started wondering what in the world is happening. In a blink of an eye, she saw Aolani come in and stomp on of them and they shattered like glass. Blinking a few times wondering if she was seeing what was really happening, bending down her hands shaking as she picked up a piece of the clay her mind still in shock causing her to not to sense the raw arcane based mana.



Hearing a familiar voiced she turned stilled shocked her body shaking a little, seeing Adrain sitting in a tree with what seemed like threads of mana fading away. As she listened to Adrain her legs no longer supported her as she fell to the ground as the pounding in her heart slowed down. Feeling Aolani kneel she leant against her as she tried to stop the shaking for a moment as her mind reminded her that it wasn’t real that all it was Adrain giving her a lesson. “Latent potential?” She honestly didn’t know what Adrain was talking about at that point all she could have thought about was trying to protect Adrain and herself and had a miniature panic and screamed praying that someone might have heard her.



A small nod of her head when he mentioned that she was ready for the exam at least the power part of the exam. “Uh… Thank you.” She said as she felt her heart rate returning to its normal steady beating as she felt some of the strength returning to her legs. “Uh when is the exam Adrain?”

"Yeah, the body knows what the mind does not many a time, and when you screamed it channeled your mana into your voice. Whether it was subconscious or something you have been working on, it came to the surface showing an impressive power." he states, having some degree of guilt over the fact that he had probably terrified Yuki but it did work. "Also putiting you in a situation like that has already shown great improvement over where you were before, with practice and confidence you can handle yourself without choking in the end.

"The exam is in about...a week ago?." he pauses, then chuckling a little, having his fun messing with Yuki or at least trying to. "It's in a little over three weeks. Though I imagine I've put you through enough today, I probably owe you some sort of reward." he says, in a contemplative pose as he crosses his arms and thinks. Serai meanwhile slinks over and rubs his body against Yuki's legs.
