Girl on Fire [Roxy/Request]

[Nyx]

Nyx was thankful for the weekend the school year and only started a few weeks along and so far it was hell. She didn't know how her own teachers did it dealing with the class clowns, the wanna be badasses and of course the question wonders. Honestly, her first day was horrible all the questions that she got asked about her hair colour, her eyes what race she was for the student that were not human to could sniff out that she wasn't completely human and even those who asked about her strange clothes. Once she had gotten them settled she was able to go on with her lessons even getting her students to call her Sensei Nyx and carry on with her lessons from what she has seen some of them were in the wrong class mostly those who seem more upon using runes than spells or just natural bending of mana to proform a basic spell. For those she suggested they get transferred into the basic runic magic class since it would be more beneficial to them than her class. Her other class it was going better than she expected some of her students who took the magical weapon defence course was interesting she was impressed that some of them had some starting knowledge on fighting with a weapon even if it wasn't a magical one. Though it seem that most of them lack the use of fighting without magic at all and she sent a few of them to the infirmary using just basic hand to hand combat it one of the worst weeks for her defence course but she was surprised that they didn't drop her class she wasn't going easy on them.


Now it was the weekend she had plans to work on her lessons for next week even though she had the full lesson plan for the school year done. She was currently in one of the outdoor training ground far from any green life so she didn't burn it from by mistake since she had gotten use the mana in this world and was able to perform a couple of new spells. Her staff in her hand she stood with her legs spread apart with her legs in her training clothes that consider of a white long robe with her red hakama she was bare foot since it was easier for her to move around this way. Starting out simple she when though her basic staff movements with blocks and attacks even using her staff almost like a pole vault to lift herself off the ground. She even did it a few more times with her wings doing simple aerial combat wit her staff getting used to her wings without taking on a full transformation .


After an hour she took a break sitting in the middle of the training ground with her staff across her legs with her hands on it taking a moment she chanted her first spell to summon her water bubble. Letting it float around her for a few moments before letting it drop a few feet from where she was sitting so that she didn't get wet. Taking a deep breath she took a moment and focus. "Lights of the world guide this servent with fire. Fire Tunnel I summon you." Her voice loud and clear with the power echo belong them as a small twister of start started, closing her eyes she moved the twister letting it grow as she kept the flames from spreading to her clothes and herself as she moved the twister to be around her so that she was sitting in the eye of the storm. If anyone to happen upon the training ground at this time they would see a swirling mass of fire at a height of five feet and eleven inches they would be able to see a silhouette of a person sitting in the middle of the tornado.

[Roxanne]

Roxanne was nosing around the Arch. She'd been spending some time there since starting her personal training with Adrain. Today, she felt like a little practice with her newly acquired earth magic was a good idea so she sought out an empty training field. From the air, everything was easier to find and spot, so she couldn't possibly miss the giant fire tornado in the center of one of the fields. Curious, she landed and watched for a moment, noting the silhouette in the center.

She stuck her nose to the wind, sniffing lightly and then grinning as she picked up the familiar scent. She was dressed in her usual attire, her long red hair in a high ponytail and her katana at her waist. Currently in her half form, she folded her wings against her back and held her tail from dragging on the ground and she walked up to stand a few feet from the twister. "That's a neat trick, Nyx! Do you think you could teach me?" she yelled over the roar of the flames.

Hearing a familiar voice call out Nyx slowly opened her eyes as she calmed the flames letting it tornado shrink in size until it died out. Seeing that it was Roxy she smiled at her as she stood up dusting off her clothes while double checking that none of it got burnt by mistake seeing that everything was okay. The last time she remembers seeing the demon was when the little adventure at the hot springs it was interesting at least when two of the females turned out to be male. "Thank you, I just recently learnt it myself but I don't mind teaching you. Also just curious but are you a teacher here Roxy." She asked wondering if maybe she missed some of the teaching staff since she was more focus on getting her lesson plan done for her classes.

Roxanne waited as Nyx cut the spell, smiling as she watched the other woman stand and brush herself off. Her demon tail twitched idly on the ground. "You're welcome. Only if you feel comfortable enough with it then, I wouldn't want to push it with it being a newly learned spell. As for the other, no," she said, laughing a bit. "I've been getting some private lessons from Adrain recently. I came out today to practice a bit of my new earth magic and just happened to spot the inferno. I was curious," she explained, her wings rustling to indicate where she spotted it from.

Not one to let conversation get in the way of practice, Roxanne turned her attention to the ground around her. She concentrated for a moment, then made a gesture with her hand. Adrain had shown her some glyphs but she was a bit old fashioned. A short pillar of solid earth shot up to about her waist height. From there she began to play with it a bit, forming into a few different basic shapes with some simple hand gestures. It was slow progress, earth being a stubborn element.

"To be honest it is not a completely new spell. It's more like I recently been able to cast the spell again." Nyx explained since it was true the spell wasn't anything completely new to her but her body has finally been able to control, contain and manipulate how to use the mana of this world allowing her to regain an old spell. It was still weaker than what she was used to before but for now, she was able to perform the spell without it backfiring on her and after all or causing harm to her personal health. "That is good Adrain-san is an excellent teacher after all." Scratching the back of her head wondering if anyone else had seen the inferno or even her warm-up excises before that it was a little embarrassing.


Nyx watched Roxy as she started to practice it was awe inspiring to see her change the earth from a lump of dirt into solid and recognisable shapes. Watching for a few moments before thinking of something that would help her own training. "Uh, Roxy how good are you with that spell. I was wondering if you could help me with some physical training if you can bend the earth to your will?" She asked praying that Roxy said yes cause then she could do some more difficult training and even get a challenge out of it and if it worked she might use the training with her own class.

Roxanne listened to Nyx's explanation, nodding. "That makes sense. I lost some of my abilities when I was Fated over, though I haven't gained them back. Probably won't in this world," she said, shrugging. She didn't miss them at all so it wasn't a big issue for her. "If you don't mind teaching me then, I'd love to learn," she said, since Nyx seemed willing enough and nodding in agreement as Nyx mentioned Adrain being a good teacher.

The half demon noticed Nyx watching her and smiled as the question followed the look. "Adrain taught me this the other day. I'm a strong willed person and I'm used to manipulating mana anyway, so it wasn't too hard to pick this up. Though, it is more difficult than it looks. The earth is stubborn and this is quickly giving me a headache. I don't mind showing you the glyphs though," she said, letting the earth sit for a moment. She rubbed her temples lightly and rolled her neck before squatting down to the ground. Using her finger, she slowly traced the glyphs that Adrain had shown her into the dirt, making them large enough for Nyx to see easily. Once she was finished with that, Roxanne showed her the hand gestures, in case she'd rather do it that way.

Nyx was glad that someone else understood a little that she was going through with being fated and having lost most of her original magical strength. "I don't mind teaching you." She said as she took a moment wondering what the best way to go about teaching Roxy the spell since her style of magic wasn't one that she encountered too many mages in Nova using.


Before she could think of how to teach Roxy the spell she heard that Adrain taught her the spell she was just casting. At the mention of it giving her a headache, she didn't want to push the girl beyond her limits. "Please don't overwork yourself I understand, I wouldn't want you falling ill." Nodding her head at the mention of teaching her the glyphs maybe she could convert it somehow into a spell since she didn't use them with her own spell casting. Crouching next Roxy as she watches her trace the glyphs in the dirt it was simple enough design that she could follow it maybe she could use it with her staff to draw it in the air. She did play close attention to the hand gestures that she showed her since it was another rare form of magic that she haven't encountered in Nova.


Taking a seat next to Roxy with her staff over her leg. "I'll have to teach you the spell the way I learnt it. First take a deep breath and feel the mana in the air and in your blood stream. Slowly push it out and though an object or in your case hands as you release the mana picture a small control flame swirling counter-clockwise." She said while also demonstrating with her hands on her staff, slowly pushing her mana though it as she chanted her spell. "Lights of the world guide this servant with fire. Fire Tunnel I summon you." The last of her words holding more power in it was a kept her mind clear letting the flames swirl around both of them keeping her concentration to not allow any fire to spread to either of them.

Roxanne grinned as Nyx agreed to teach her, though she shrugged off the girl's concern over her health. "Thank you, but don't worry about me. I know my limits," she said, though she appreciated it. It surprised her more than anything, she wasn't used to having anyone worried over her besides Aria. Showing her the glyphs and hand gestures didn't require any mana at all though, so it wasn't a problem.

As Nyx began her explanation, Roxanne nodded, paying close attention. Nyx's form of manipulating magic was different from any that the half demon had seen but she thought she could work it to her own style. She could feel the power that Nyx pulled and the concentration it took her to hold this. "This is very impressive. I've never seen anyone handle magic quite like this before, though," she commented, looking around and up at the sky through the funnel of flames.

Roxanne motioned for Nyx to stop her spell and waited. "My turn," she said, grinning. Not wanting to risk setting Nyx on fire though, the half demon walked a few paces away before turning back around. She chose to remain standing, her eyes closed in concentration. She pictured the swirling funnel of fire surrounding her the way Nyx had instructed and slowly pulled the magic together. A small circle of flame appeared around her feet and began to rise from there. After a few moments, she opened her eyes, grinning at Nyx through the tornado. She held it for a moment and the it disappeared with a wave of her hand.

Nyx nodded her head but she still couldn't help but worry since she wasn't sure if she was the only one who possibly suffered from health issue because of her magic type. She did want to speak with Adrain about it maybe he could help her create a ring or something that she can channel her magic through so that she could become more adapted to the magic in Nova.


Slowly she let the fire continue to swirl around them before letting it die out slowly since fire was one of the elements that had a mind of it's own. "Thank you, if you lose concentration using the spell it will go wild and could turn against you and your friends." Warning Roxy since she didn't want to see the girl getting hurt learning the spell. She watched as Roxy walked off to good distance away from her which was good in case she couldn't hold the flames back from harming the both of them. Watching her as she pulled the mana in the air as the tornada started to form at her feet raising into a burning inferno. It was impressive to see someone else using the spell but she was amazed at the control that Roxy had. "That was perfect with more mastery of the spell you could move the torndo around with perfect focus."
