Selkiris chuckled as he waved over a waitress and ordered a drink. Part of him still couldn't believe he was doing this, drinking and talking with a follower of Zeapon. Out of all the gods, Selkiris hated Zeapon the most. He had his reasons though, reasons he wished he could forget. But they haunted him every time he closed he eyes. "So, Nyx. How did you become a follower of Zeapon? Was it just something your family did or is there a special little story about it?" Selkiris thanked the waitress as she gave him his drink and took a long sip from it. Nothing like a little whiskey to dull the senses. He needed to be careful though as he didn't want this girl taking advantage of him while he was drunk. He didn't know what type of information he would let slip out if he couldn't fully keep himself in check. Nyx

Nyx eyes had rested on the window watching the rain while she waited for Selkiris to flag down a waitress. It was funny that as soon as they took a seat that the rain started to a downpour. Turning to the soft feminine voice she smiled at the girl and ordered the same as her friend no point in him drinking alone. Plus, it’s not like she had much to lose if she got too drunk since the most she might do would be to declare to the world that she was Fated but at this point she felt secure in her job she didn’t feel the need to worry as much and since meeting Diamond she could just claim she is from the same country as him.
Hearing his question, she clucked a bit since it wasn’t one answer to his question. “You remember how I am not from this world.” She said keeping her voice low in case anyone was ease dropping on her conversation. “Well, where I am from you are born into a kingdom that a Deity rules. I was born in Zepon’s kingdom. Though I might have been born in his kingdom doesn’t make me a follower. It was going I turn 13 I was chosen to service him as one of his warriors. I had to go through training for years before I was official allowed to protect his kingdom. Keep in mind being hand chosen to service a deity is a big thing since it is a job for life and one of the best-paying jobs as well.” She said proudly since it was true. Watching the waitress put her drink down she thanked her and took a quick sip of her drink not wanting to dull her senses just yet.
“Since you seem to want to know more about me I think it is only fair to return the favour. So, what caused you to become a follower for your Ancient One?” She said as she folded her hands under her chin and rested on it as she looked at him as if he was the most interesting piece art.

Selkiris nodded as he listened to her story. He understood just fine, it was just a little strange to him as he could comprehend it very well. He just guessed it was because he wasn't from that world so he wasn't used to it. He set his drink down for a moment and thought about what he had just heard. "I see......yes. Okay that makes sense I guess. At least as much sense as it can." Selkiris was quiet when Nyx asked why he had become a follower of the Ancient One. The events had flashed through his mind like it was just yesterday. The seal, the book, the voice. It was all so clear. "I was....hired....to explore some ruins inside the manna gorge. Told to clear it out of any beast that may reside there. When I got there though. It was just.....ruins like he said. No creatures, no shred of life. Just broken stone and marble. The only thing I had found was the tome. The one you saw me read in the temple. I thought it was a joke, read a random passage. Then I heard him. He told me I had summoned the lord of darkness, the imprisoned, the Ancient One. I had a choice, to bow and receive power I could never get on my own....or to turn away and run. I couldn't think. My body bowed on its own.....then all I felt was pain, given the sign of the Abyssmal Emporer as a sign it wasn't just a dream." Selkirs muttered the last part in a quiet tone. He remebered the burning sensation of the seal being etched into him.

Nyx giggled a little before taking another sip of her drink. “Just think of it more like I was chosen to be his follower.” As he started to tell his story she took small sips of her drinking nodding her head. It was interesting and it did make her want to see these ruins one day for sure. As he concluded his story she placed her drink down in a light thought. It was strange yet she couldn’t call it a random event either. Two people born in two different worlds and chosen by a deity. For Nyx, she was chosen amount others to protect a kingdom while Selkiris was chosen to become a prophet for an ancient deity and now they both were sitting across from each other knowing that one day they would have to fight each other for they God if needed. Laughing at bit at the thought that no matter what world she might have ended up in possible friends end up on opposite sides of a war.
“Would you be willing to take me to these ruins some time. They sound interesting and based on what you said I think it wasn’t a ruin you were sent to explore more like a temple.” Taking a lock of her hair she twirled it around her finger, as she thought. If this was home Selkiris would have been tied up, in the basement with only the light coming from either a lamp or a light orb as she pushed him against the wall in his chair hovering over him and demanding answers. Still, even if she was home she had taken a liking to him and wouldn’t be able to do that either so she decided to settle on lighter conversation topic. “Now since we are going to be stuck here till the rain lets up. Mind telling me a little about yourself nothing overly important just what you are willing to let me know.”

Selkiris nodded. It was obvious to him now that those ruins were part of a temple. But he still wasn't sure why the temple was in the Manna Gorge of all places. That place was so dangerous...but then again that would also mean only the insane would dare try and attack. Selkiris lost his train of thought when she asked to say a little about himself. He didnt want to be overly personal as he wanted to keep those parts lost in time. "Well before I became....The Prophet as people call me. I was a mercenary. A sword for hire. I used my natural affinity for magic and my skill with a blade to get through jobs. What made me different from other mercenaries though....was I...as people would say...had a death wish. I wasn't afraid to do even the craziest jobs.....but really that was because I was just desperate....."

Reaching out to touch Selkiris’s hand. “I know it might be personal by why were you so desperate.” Her other hand rested over her heart. This was not what she had expected to happen for them to end up having a heart to heart she was expecting maybe he told her about his family or what he did for a living since surely being a prophet didn’t make him much. “If it’s too hard to continue I can tell you some things about myself.”
Quickly taking her hand from his she took a moment to think about what to tell him about herself. “Well before I came to Nova I was a warrior. I use magic to protect my kingdom, before that I was in school fine tuning my magic and combat skills. I have a little sister who…. Who might be dead.” Her heart dropped as she finally said it out loud that her sister might have died since she wasn’t there to protect her. It was all her fault if she hadn’t decided to work her sister home from school that day, Tara might be alive and not to the possibility of being dead.

Selkiris nodded softly when she volunteered to say stuff about her. He didn't want to think about it. Everything that had led him to being so desperate. Then she spoke of her little sister who might be dead. It....he didn't want to talk about it but he thought it was only fair. "I....had a sister too. A twin. She was born only a few seconds after me. We were absolutely inseparable. Bandits came to where me and my sister were staying. We were fifteen at the time. They....did things to her...and made me watch the entire time. Then they took her away. I tried to find her....but I could never get any good leads. I want to believe she is alive....but if I haven't found her in this long....I can only guess the worst." Selkiris went quiet. He couldn't believed he shared that with Nyx. That had never been shared with anyone......he was merely making it fair though.

A few tears rolled down Nyx’s cheek as she listened to him talk about his sister. This world was more savage than her own world that was for sure and no one should have ever experienced that Selkiris had suffered in his life. Then again who knows maybe his life was meant to turn out this way and their meeting today was meant to happen since she knew that even though they are given free will by the Gods that there are some things that they are meant to happen. “Um… how about we talk about something on a happier note. Um… ever thought about settling down and starting a family. Oh my, God, I didn’t mean to say that it’s not like I want us to well… I mean. I’ll be quiet now.” She said picking up her drinking and finishing it quickly as she felt her cheeks heat up causing a light rose tint to them from her slight embarrassment.

Selkiris looked at her strangely when she asked if he every thought of having a family. "With the path I am destined to go down. I will almost certainly be cursed....likely the same way....he did.' Selkiris did not wish to even utter the Great One's title. As he didn't know if the gods were listening. He also didn't want to anger anyone who has read stories or even lived to see the Great One. "Any offspring and wife I would have would likely be cursed. I wouldn't want that on anyone. I can only imagine the torture the first few years would bring." Selkiris's only description of the abyss was from the tome he carried, and the tome didn't make it seem very friendly. A place where you either rule or die trying. Every single species was at war with at least one other species the tome said. Ever corner of the abyss is a battleground. Or at least it was, then the Great One showed up.

Nyx was glad that he didn’t take her mention of a family the wrong way, her cheeks were still rosy but it was natural. It was a little sad to hear that he and any family he has would most likely be cursed. “That sounds lonely.” She uttered by mistake since what she knew about most creatures and humans was that they were social creatures and not having something by your side to socialise with just sounded heartbreaking. “I wouldn’t mind a family. Someone to come home to after work and maybe a child. Though I do worry about possibility outliving my spouse.” Noticing that she had finished her drink she set the mug to the side of the table deciding not to order anything else for now. “If you don’t mind me asking but what do you do for a living. I only ask because I don’t believe being a prophet makes much money.” It had been something she was wondering about for some time now. “I work educating young mages.” Deciding to provide information about how she makes a living.

Selkiris chuckled slightly. "I understand that. You are young, you still have much of your life ahead of you." Selkiris drank the rest of his whiskey and set his cup aside. This woman was at least entertaining he would at least give her that. "Oh? You educate mages? I dabble in magic as well....but uh.....its likely not the kind you deal with very often. I practice dark magic. Likely not the kind you would have seen if you have ever even seen it though." Selkiris said quitely. He knew dark magic was one of the rarest types of magic practiced. He also knew there were some who even feared it. He understood that perfectly, especially due to...certain examples in the past. "I still occasionallydo mercenary jobs to get by. I dont get paid as a prophet....well not paid in money at least.

“I do. I teach introduction to magic along with a combat class since magic shouldn’t be the only option when it comes to fighting.” When she heard that he practices dark magic it wasn’t something expected but it did make sense. “Well dark magic is rare and I have seen some in my life but often it’s not directed at me personally.” Flagging down the waitress feeling a little bit hungry and food was a good option. “Mercenary jobs aren’t those dangerous in a sense but I guess you are already walking on the side of danger.” Seeing the waitress come to their table Nyx proceed to order a bowl of beef stew with extra bread on the side along with a cup of tea. It was sad she missed her world sometimes when she thought about tea since it as different here compared to home Nyx missed her mother presenting her a cup of tea with some little cookies.

Selkiris nodded. Magic certainly shouldn't ever be the only option in a fight. Everyone should try and adapt to their surroundings when it comes to battles. Use what ever you can to fight. That was Selkiris's ideas on battles. Unless there were specific rules to the battle he thought that everything and anything was fair game. "Yes I have noticed that. I have also noticed people seem to be a little more...cautious around dark magic users to say the least." Selkiris looked at the waitress as she came to the table, he just ordered some soup as he didn't feel like eating very much. "Yes some mercenary jobs can be quite dangerous, but its not like I got nothing to lose." Selkiris sighed moved a hand inside his cloak, brushing off the cover of his dark tome. "Tell me Nyx. Do you think my sister is alive? Not even the darkness could give me a clear answer, perhaps a fated can."

Hearing him ask if she knew if his sister was alive she sweat dropped a little. “Maybe I can provide some answers.” Looking around she opened the top of her outfit taking out a case that contained cards before fixing her top back. “Do you believe in Seers?” She asked as she opened the case fully revealing the cards that she had. There was light pink in colour with a magic circle on the back of the cards and to anyone they would look like normal cards until she flipped over the first card it had a picture of a heart with two wings on either side of it.
Taking the cards out she shuffled them a while she focuses on what needed to be done. Normally she used them to get an idea of the future and in a sense, that’s what she was doing but she was also going to get a small glimpse into the past for this to work properly. Her eyes close as her left hand reminded on the deck of cards, opening her eyes they would be glowing bright blue as she started to lay out the cards with three cards off to the side each facing down. Flipping each card over she saw an image of the past that slightly blurred but still visible to her eyes. Soon her hands moved to the three face down cards each a different possible outcome of the future but all answering the question. The first card had a picture of twins. “Yes, your sister is alive based on this card and you guys will reunite.” The next card flipped over it was a picture of someone cloaked in the shadows the card was upside down. “This one is sad cause it means your sister still walks with us on this earth but her life will end soon if things continue this way.” The last card she flipped over had a sword on it before she could read the card her hand move to the deck of cards as she flipped another card over that had the picture of mother earth. “This final cards it seems that she will become a mother, the sword means that she is a strong person. All four cards have told me one thing that is she is still alive but her future is still hidden in the mist of different outcome that I can not pin down since the future is ever changing.”
The glow on her eyes started to die down as she put her cards away, her breathing coming in short breaths. Normally when she did this it didn’t take this much out of her, she also didn’t tell Selkiris the other things that she had seen in the cards since she wanted to give him hope that he will find his sister alive once again. Allowing herself to catch her breath she placed the cards back in they case and tucked them back into her clothes. “Sorry, I wasn’t of much help to you.”

Selkiris was surprised at first when Nyx asked if he believed in seers. He chuckled softly. "I personally don't seek out their skills but I can not deny them." Selkiris watched intently as Nyx set up the cards and began the session. Selkiris was silent after it ended. Like he was thinking. Then he suddenly began to make a soft...almost inaudible sound. He was crying. His voice was very soft, and filled with more emotion than he ever had for the past year. "Thank you.....thank you for this. I.....I want to repay you in someway. I cant do much but I will try if it is in my power. Please. Just name it and I will do it." Selkiris didn't even think as he said that. He needed to repay her for this. Giving him hope that his sister was still alive. With children of her own even. Of course the future wasn't fully certain on the last part but he had hope.
