Gabriel smiled at Yuki, “Thats good to hear, hopefully then you wouldn’t need a bodyguard as often.” Gabriel held the sword as he turned to face Yuki, “Well blocking is simple enough, you have 8 ways to move ; forward, backwards, left, right, are the four basic ones. Then diagonal to the upper left, upper right, and lower left, and lower right.” Gabriel moved as he spoke “That part is simple enough. Though the harder part would be blocking properly with a forward grip.”

Gabriel held the sword forward “When you have a forward grip blocking is more having your blade touch the enemy and moving to avoid it, since the dagger in general has less weight and range then say a sword or an axe you want to be fast. A dagger won’t last as long if you were do a frontal block compared to other weapons.”

Gabriel swung his sword from right to left while stepping with his right foot diagonally to the right followed by his left. “With a sword it might look abit weird but you want to always block with your weapon on an angle, never block an attack straight forward unless you have no other choice since you’ll usually lose at that point. When you block at an angle the strength of the blow feels a lot weaker. And with a forward grip you can easy slash back as a counter. It might be sudden but less try it slowly”

Gabriel backed up to the range of his sword and slowly swung his sword from diagonally right to left.

Yuki smiled but shook her head when Gabriel said that hopefully it meant that once she got stronger she wouldn’t need a guard as often. “I would still need a guard even if it’s only someone to escort me to town.” As the conversation turned back to fighting she nodded her head understanding the first four basic ways to attack it made sense though she was a bit worried that she might mess up on the diagonal blocks with either slow reaction time or she used the wrong block.



Nodding her head as he went over how to block with the dagger and nodded her head at him mentioning that speed with be important since she was using daggers. She didn’t mind since she was small enough so she should be able to pick up speed and learn to be faster. When Gabriel slowly swung his sword she brought her dagger up in a lower left to right angle in hopes to block the sword.

Gabriel smiled as the sword hit the dagger, “Mhm like that is good, but try not to block too early and don’t be nervous, when I swing the sword at you if you're scared, you won’t be able to block properly. And if you’re blocking for too long, people can change where they strike”

“Lets try it a few more times, afterwards we can call it a day since it’ll probably take some time for you to take it all in” Gabriel said before lifting his sword and slowly swinging the it at Yuki from different directions.

Yuki nodded her head as she listened to Gabriel. She wasn’t sure if she would ever be ready for a real fight that close range just yet. As they went back to practicing the mana used to create the dagger dispelled as Gabriel’s sword was coming down upon her. In a panic, she quickly summons mana around her body creating a small air shield which upon contact with the sword knock the sword and Gabriel away from her a couple of inches. Opening her eyes having not felt anything upon her she notices first that she was in a bubble that are almost perfectly clear minus the light green glow it had to it along with swirling mass of wind. Second, she notices was that Gabriel as a short distance away from her. “Did I do that?” She asked more to herself than anyone as she focus on trying to dispel the air shield.

Gabriel was swinging the sword at an average speed, though it wouldn’t be considered fast in actual combat it was enough for practicing. As Gabriel swung his sword down he noticed the dagger vanish though he wouldn't be able to react fast enough to stop before the sword hit Yuki, just as he going to try to do something he felt something slam against his sword and him.

As Gabriel got his footing back after being suddenly pushed back he looked at Yuki in surprised. Afterwards he put his sword down and looked at Yuki “Yeah for the time being maybe we should take a break. And maybe bringing an physical knife would be better for practice.so that doesn’t happen again.

Gabriel walked up to Yuki looking at the sphere that she's in. “that's pretty strong though to be honest.” Gabriel waited next to Yuki waiting for her to dispel the shield.

"A break is a good idea. I promise next time I'll bring a physical dagger." She replied. Turning her eyes to focus on the shield that protected her she extended a hand touching the surface of the bubble. It felt warm and solid under and seem to almost be responding to her touch. It surprised her a little since it wasn't what she was expecting nether the less it was something she could do now with magic.

Taking a deep breath she took a seat on the ground feeling the grass under her fingers. Closing her eyes she focus on the bubble that was protecting her as she felt the familiar mana and recognize it as her own. Taking a few more breaths she finally allows the shield to dispelled turning it into simple wind. Feeling the gentle breeze that caressed her cheeks before the breeze left the area. "I guess the air shield was strong. At least now I have a secondary defense against an attack." Yuki said as she smiled brightly at Gabriel.

“That’ll be good just remember to bring one that feels comfortable in your hand, I’ll bring my knife next time we train so it’ll be easier to show compared to using a sword.” Gabriel watched as Yuki slowly dispelled her shield “Yes the shield is pretty strong, im sure it’ll be able to deflect most regular weapons though I wouldn’t be too knowledgeable in that” Gabriel sat down on the ground and looked at Yuki “If you don’t mind me asking though Yuki why decide on using daggers out of all weapons?” Gabriel asked honestly since using daggers to him was to fight in extremely close range against another person and takes a lot of skill to master compared to other weapons since they would be required to learn many ways to fight outside of just using the weapon.

Yuki nodded her head and made note that she would need to do some shopping the next day or so for a small dagger. Maybe if she was lucky she could ask one of the magically combat teachers to help her find a weapon more suited to her style since she wasn’t sure that she was going to feel completely comfortable with daggers but it was the first spell that she been able to preform that maintain a physical form even if it was only for a few minutes.



“It’s good that I can create a shield, though I do hope it can deflect regular weapons.” Hearing the second question she almost wanted to laugh a little since she had just been thinking about it not that long ago. “To be honest Gabriel I didn’t choose the daggers, they choice me in a sense. You see I was practicing with my air magic one day and it kind of happened I was thinking how nice it would be mold the mana from the air into an almost pure solid state to make a weapon. Next thing I knew I was holding two daggers, one was made of air and the other ice. I don’t know why but it happened that way.”

“With some practice you should be able to. It was strong enough to push me back quite a bit so as long as you get stronger there should not be much of an issue” Gabriel said with a smile while listening to Yuki. “Thats interesting, though I could understand the air dagger somewhat I don’t understand why the ice dagger. For the most part daggers are about speed over strength Yuki, If you’re fast enough you could easily fight off anyone or at least last long enough to get help.” Gabriel said from experience since he was extremely proficient in daggers when he was younger. Remembering the past where he was trained to fight and kill with daggers, forcing him to adapt and learn many different fighting styles in the process.

“Your body could be a reason as well, those that are nimble and fast usually prefer daggers, though daggers would require you to learn a lot of close combat skills it wouldn’t be a bad start if you sticked with it if I could be honest with you” Gabriel continued to explain. “Well even if you don’t stick with daggers, if you do wish to learn an conventional physical weapon or combat I should be able to teach you nonetheless Yuki, due to well some unfortunate circumstance in my past I had to learn almost every weapon possible outside of magic.”

Gabriel looked at Yuki for a few moments “Was there anything else you needed to do Yuki?” asking nicely since Gabriel figured Yuki would at least be exhausted from everything they did today. holding onto his stuff he would accompany Yuki through the rest of the day.
