Group 2: Hope Quest

Gabriel watched as what happened, seeing the hounds get annihilated it took him a bit to not look in disgust on what just happened, even after believing he was in hell this was a sight he didn’t think he’d ever see.

Taking a few moments to regain his composure he walked towards Yuki “Are you okay?” Gabriel asked just to check since he knew the fight was pretty hectic, Once he took a look at everything he took a breathe and watched as Aria seemed to be teleported away. “Hey Esper? Are you okay? We should take a few moments break before continuing. It would be better to move in prepared then rush in like this”

Yuki only nodded her head when Gabriel asked if she was okay she couldn’t say anything everything had happened so fast. She did not notice at first when Esper came over to them, it wasn’t until he place his hands under Aria did she look up and back away a bit. Rubbing her eyes as she looked away from Aria as she was teleported away. Looking down at her hands she realized for the first time that she was shaking, squeezing her hand into a fist to try and stop herself from shaking she walked away to where Liz’s weapon laid discarded when it fell from her hands.



Crouching down looked at the weapon closely she notice that what she had thought was a chain was in fact a barbed wire woven together before attaching to the other main part of the weapon. Looking at the curved blade for a moment noticing the way that it was shaped, before she looked at the ball at the end it reminded her so much of a rope dart but it was different in it of itself. Walking over to Liz her legs shaking with each step she looked down at the woman at her cold lifeless eyes, reaching down closed her eyes. “I’m sorry…” Bowing her head she said a quick pray for Liz’s soul and that it finds peace.



Opening her eyes she noticed for the first time the gauntlets that Liz was wearing, carefully she slide them off her hands feeling the weight. It was heavier than she expected but still light enough for her to lift it without too much trouble. Slipping them over her own hands she flexed her fingers a bit it realizing that it was a bit loose on her hands but not to the point it would fall over easily. Walking back over to the weapon she picked it up careful feeling the weight of it in her own hands. “We should at least drink some water.” Struggling a bit under the weight of the weapon, as she lifted it a bit so that the wire rested on her bag to take some of the off of just a bit.

"...Hm...you two rest, time is running out." he says as the priest and Yuki seemed to be exhausted whether mentally, physically or both. When a loud roar was heard, he rose a brow behind his mask which caused him to pause from his search and scan of the area.

"...Poppets?" he says. He looks in the general direction of the Deyu and shouts aloud.

"Sella Mahalau. Avi yen sa erena ta diyasta averia wullo?!"

Once the seals went down, the cave seemed to shake and tremor from the events that happened, the cave seemed to crack and break due to that. This would last for a few minutes as the large door began cracking before a section of it crumbled allowing them entrance into the temple.

When they enter the temple they would see a large scale fight between what seemed like fire elementals and warriors versus the minions of helena. The tremors seemed to have caused some of the doors to crumble inside the temple letting those who tried to look into the other rooms see large amounts of flames bursting out from it.

A quake...followed by a crumbling and a passage leading to a huge battle ahead. He considered the options. He recalls the fire elemental he had summoned earlier.

"Please attempt to parley with the elementals and have them understand we are not their enemy, sent to recover the relic to deal with the Deyu turning loose."

"And with that...time to move forward" he says disappearing into shadows and jumping across darkness and space to the closest backline Helena minion and attempting to impale them with the arm blades growing once more. Should that succeed, Esper would begin going into a frenzy striking and slashing at Helena's pawns with draconic fury.

Gabriel took a breath while watching what happened, he didn’t expect to be so out of shape, though he didn’t have weapons that he’d prefer he didn’t think it be as difficult as it should have been. Making a mental note that he would need a more durable weapon later on he slowly stood up before the place began to tremble. Getting a grip on whatever was near he would watch as the place seemed to fall apart. Once the tremors end he would see an opening on the large door “Thats surprisingly convenient though they don’t look friendly.” Seeing the hounds there he realized they might be able to sneak through.

He took another breath as he stood up and walked towards the others, “Should we try to sneak in? They seem distracted. Though the large blasts of flames on the other side is somewhat ominous”

Yuki fell to the ground from the trembles and the weight of the new weapon she was carrying it. Once everything stopped it took her a while longer to get on her feet once again as she notice a door or at least a entrance way seemed to open up before them. From the angle she was at she could only see a bit of what was inside but she could hear the sounds a fight happening. Looking towards Esper only to see him already disappeared into the room leaving Gabriel and herself.



Lifting the weapon a bit more as she tried to gain some balance so it wasn’t dragging on the ground as she made her way towards Gabriel. “It seems like Esper had other plans but we could try and sneak though.” Looking back into the room she saw the other doors and wondered if there was one that didn’t have the flames blocking the entrance. “We could stick to the shadows and make her way to one of the other rooms.”



Taking small steps, she made sure that Gabriel wasn’t too far from her she slowly made her way into the room she didn’t want to fight and she also knew that her magic was a disadvantage since it would only fan the flames higher. Sticking to the walls she made her way towards the closest room to them.

The battle would continue though some of the rooms seem to be breaking apart slightly. When the elemental tried to speak with the flame guardians though the elemental was not attacked it was sent back with a message “No matter who it is, none shall pass. We shall guard these treasures with our lives, only those who pass the trial shall be allowed to take the armor from us. If you wish to help then so be it, but if you try to cross us you’ll suffer the same fate”

In one of the rooms further back a lava golem appeared as it slammed it’s flaming fists at a morgg hound burning it alive. The minions of helena would be slowly destroyed as bursts of flames would appear from the rooms in the back, multiple warriors and guards created by flames would appear, they would be loosely armored wielding flames in the shape of a spear or sword. Golems of lava would also appear crawling from the back. They would continue to rise in numbers until it was obvious that the minions of helena would be obliterated if they stayed any longer. Along side Esper only a few moments later would the entirety of the enemy would have been wiped.

Once it was just the three and the elementals, there would be a moment of silence before the flames around the rooms lit, the floor in front of the adventurers would be lit in flames which spelled out “Step forward to accept the trials, Leave now if your life is precious to you” afterwards more letters would form “Do not be a fool like the others and think you can kill us” a few moments later a line would form in front of each individual member.

(OOC Disclaimer / explanation - If you wish to proceed with the trial of flames then step past the flaming line, those who don’t will leave through the way they came and run into the army in which your individual character will be sent back to Nova)

Yuki froze for a moment as she watched a lava golem appear almost out of no where her eyes widen as she watched it slam it fist down burning the hound alive. Her could hear the sounds as it yipped and howled to, turning away from it her eyes starting to burn yet no tears deared fall as the scent from the burn bodies and the ash rose. Adjusting the weapon so that the ball was resting on her bag she brought her hand up to cover her nose to block out more of the scent yet she couldn’t get it found out her nose.



Turning back to the battle she saw that it was soon over before it started as the flames, Esper and the golem took out what had remind of Helena’s army. Swallowing what little she can as she waited to see if the elementals would turn on them as well, she jumped back a bit seeing the words written in the flames. Raising her head she looked at her other two companions then back to the words, then to the elemental. “My life isn’t as precious as those who back home.” Her words rang true to her own ears. Her life was meaningless, her own mother didn’t accept her for what she was born, she didn’t have many friends in the court because she was always busy and she ruined everything her mother worked hard for with finding some way to avoid or get of a marriage.



Closing her eyes she pushed those memories down and tried to think of all those who were counting on her. The brave men and women who are fighting Helena head on somewhere to save the city, Melda who she gave a hug to before leaving, Lady Aria who couldn’t make it this far with them and Adrain the one person who made her feel like there was some hope in the world for her. With those happy memories she opened her eyes with pure determination to pass whatever trial they might have to face, stepping over the line fully accepting her fate that she might never see Nova again if she failed.

As the minions of Helena were cleaned up, Esper retracted the blades back into energy into his body as he looked at the army. The message from his own elemental had gotten through as a line of fire was manifest and an invitation to the trials began. He looks at Yuki as she makes her own declaration.

"All life is precious, yours especially for having the courage to undergo this burden. Helena's minions forgot that, and paid the price." he says calmly. "This area is particularly close to the Fire Plane, trying to overwhelm them would be folly, even for me. They would simply reform rapidly even if you were to strike them down. In any case, they have purpose and some sense of honor. So be it." he says as he walks over the line himself, awaiting whatever it was to begin.

Gabriel stood next to yuki “yeah hopefully he might be a good distraction for us,” Gabriel said before he started to follow Yuki hoping they could sneak in, though after a few moments they would stop as he saw beasts he knew he probably would never have believed before. Stopping in his tracks he would watch as it seemed the enemy was thoroughly destroyed.

Afterwards he noticed something in front of him on the ground as he started to read it. “Trials huh, as a high priest those who rely on us are more important” Gabriel muttered. Making up his mind as more words appeared he looked around and knew he would stand no chance especially against the numbers. “We came for a reason, backing down is not an option” Gabriel said as he walked over the line.

Once the three adventurers walked past the lines, the weapons on the elementals would vanish and they would move back slightly and waited for a few moments.

then three pillars of fire would appear in the middle of the room, each pillar would then extend horizontally towards the back wall. They each had what seemed to be a piece of equipment in it. The left showed a sword, The middle had a chestplate, the the right had a bow and arrow. Words would then appear in the same manner again “According to the legends, what was hidden in the temple of fire after its usage, Walk through the pillar of the correct answer. Be warned, all three of you must walk through at the same time. Picking the right one will allow you to walk through the pillar unharmed. The wrong ones will burn you through to the end.” The words would stay there allowing the three to reread it as many times as needed.

Yuki heard the words Esper spoke, that her life was precious as well just because she had the courage to undergo this task. A small smile appeared since she knew that it wasn’t true she had hopped on the first chance to get away from everything she was being brave she was just using this quest to run away from her problems. Looking towards Gabriel she was happy that he was also going to undergo the trial as well.



Watching as three pillars appeared each with a different item the first one was a sword, then a chestplate and last was a bow and arrow. She almost jumped again as the words appeared, honestly she wondered if the elemental wanted to kill her with a heart attacked. Her minded muddled over the words that had appeared, thinking a bit the many legends that she heard of she went back to the one of the Temple of Fire.



It was a simple story with not much involved to it, it had spoken of a man who helped saved the kingdom. He wasn’t special minus being one of many chosen to represent a God as their champion later on after they brave deed. Racking her head she remembered that he had hide a chestplate so that no one else could use it unless it is needed again and only those who were brave could recover it. “I believe it is the chestplate.” She said looking towards Gabriel then Esper to see if also thought the same before she took any steps towards the pillar.

Watching the others cross the line also Gabriel had a grin on his face. “Guess we’re all in the same boat then aren’t we.” Reading the info on the floor gabriel was almost at a loss. “Hmm,”
Gabriel thought for a moment “The rumors in town said that it was armor right? I think thats what some of the scholars said as well.” Gabriel scratched his head “hopefully they were right, meaning that it would be the chestplate .Do you two have any idea? Cause i’d prefer if none of us got it wrong you know with the whole burning pillar of fire” Gabriel said as he waited to see if esper had anything else to say.

Esper quietly looks at the scene unfold and the musings of the other two. "When the answer is as straightforward as it seems, I admit a little caution to a trick. However there is absolutely nothing to indicate the relevance of a bow or a sword so into the fire we go."

Once all three moved, Esper moved with them.
