Sabel Ashwinder
" Character Quote or saying."
Nickname: Twerd, Slippery Sabel, Sabefail, Age: 15 Gender: Female Race: Human Origin: Native Role: Alchemist |
Character Traits
Hair Color/Style: Sabel has messy black stick straight hair that ends just past her shoulders. She always has split ends, and her over grown bangs are almost always in her face. Often the messy hair has a slightly greasy shine to it; its hardly every brush clean threw. Often its thrown up in a messy bun while she's working.
Eye color: Grey, her eyes are by her definition an unremarkable stony grey. Outlined in black they stand out as very cold and calculating.
Skin Color: Pasty pale; not the pretty pale, no its the hey maybe you should get out in the sun your kinda looking sick pale. Her pasty white skin could be used as a beacon to which light radiates off and blinds unsuspecting unfortunate on lookers. However to much light and the poor girl is as red as a lobster. She rarely doesn't have bags under her eyes, her only saving grace is that she has been spared from a potch marked face. As her skin is surprisingly clean of any unsightly blemishes; how? She doesn't tell for she knows she'd be bombarded by other pasty white nerds for her secrets, and really who wants that sort of bother?
Body Type: She's a bean pole; a tall gangly bean pole. Her chest is what one would describe has two mosquito bites; and with little to no hips to speak of. She's seen boys with more of a girlish figure then she. She's not at all strong or athletic, she's more likely to trip over her own feet then to successfully do anything that required any physical prowess. Though its not for lack of trying. She stands at an awkward 5' 6" already which makes her tall as most males. Worse thing yet is she's still growing like a weed.
Clothing - Detailed Appearance: A mess and not a hot one; Sabel has a low sense of self esteem and it shows. She is self conscious of her quickly towering height and lack of femininity. So much so that she usually wears draping robes. Hardly changing; often much to the dismay of her roomates at the Arch. Usually she picks darker colors, she prefers them due to the fact stains do not show up as easily on them.
Personality: Sabel usually comes off as a sarcastic ass; usually lashing out before people lash out at her. Not physically just verbally. Words are her only line of defense; and she relies heavily on them. Being an overly tall bean pole like herself, lacking any charismatic charm, has lead to bullying of sorts. Deep down she's highly self conscious, anxious, and awkward.
When people first meet Sabel they think quiet timid nerd; while she most definitely prefers to avoid conflict she's not one to shy away from sassing it up before fleeing like a coward. Often one can see her run awkwardly threw the arch with her robes held up high while still shouting insults to her pursuers...only for her to trip and get usually whats coming to her. After all...she does not say nice things and usually knows exactly what to say to get underneath someones skin.
Sabel consistently second guesses herself, often this leads her to mess up a spell. It also partly why she chooses to dress the way she does. Not hard to pick one giant black sack over the other.
When it comes to social situation Sabel prefers to be quiet; and keep to herself. Handling delicate situations is most certainly not her strong point; and she tends to be quite jealous of people who find ease in such social situations.
Etiquette classes are her saving grace; or at least those that have clear set rules! She may tell a crying child to suck it up, but you sure as hell can bet she can tell you which fork is used for salads and which ones used for soup! Or how low you should curtsy for a baron vs a duke.
Sabels most defining feature to those who get to know her is her persistence, and determination are limitless. If she sets her mind to something, she's going to do it, even if it takes her years. Sabel while normally grouchy, does not loose her temper easily, and her patience is surprising for one so anti social.
Likes: Order, Rules, Books, Alchemy, a test of wit, quiet places, success, power, recognition.
Dislikes: Sun, surprise social situations, other magics, vast amounts of exercise, animals, sweet things, spicy things, loud annoying people, overly energetic optimistic people, fated, the list goes on. Oddly enough she's also not a big fan of Ai the Goddess, tho she wont say so out loud.

Combat & Inventory
( List two spells that your character can perform, For magic users only.) --
Spells: Sabel is weak in other areas of magic; she cannot successfully preform a spell with out some sort of item to help channel it. She looses that item well, you'd have better luck getting a hamster to grow a set of wings. Even then there's a large chance she'll mess it up and it have horrible backlashes on her or those around her. Sabel however shines when it comes to the ancient art of alchemy. Its one of the few classes she excels at while at the arch. Though that's not to say that with extreme persistence she wouldn't be able to become proficient in a spell or two.
Spell/Ability One: Amoralis
Description: Ironically Sabel gained entrance to the arch with a successful creation of a strong love potion called Amoralis which caused the consumer to have an unhealthy obsession of what ever living being it made eye contact to next.
The potion is very complex, requiring a large string of ingredients and a total of 48 hours to brew. The potion can only be started on the months full moon. It has to be kept at a consistent temperature, and brewed in a gold cauldron over an open flame. Being stirred twice clockwise and three times counter clockwise every half hour for 24 hours. On the next 24 hours the potion has to remain in a cool dark area un touched.
Ingrediants:
1 cup of Lacewings
5 ground white pearls
1 oz of chemical from light spore
3 hairs of a Silverback spider
5 cups of water from the crystal spring
The potion when brewed correctly will take on a pearly pink hue, the smoke rising from the potion will rise in a spiral that spins counter clockwise. It will smell different for each person but it will be a very attractive alluring smell to the person smelling it.
At Novice level Each Brew contains enough potion for 2 vials, each vial is one dose.
Range: Consumer has to ingest it.
Times Per Day: Takes two days to complete, but it has a shelf life of four months so, a few can be on hand and stored.
Extra/Drawbacks: Well if your the first person the consumer sees it could have many drawbacks considering how the said person shows affection. I mean no one wants a horny dragon chasing them. Another draw back is if the potion is a bad batch one may get a horrible purple rash that itches in very 'ahem' uncomfortable places for three days.
Spell/Ability Two: Swelling Solution
Description: A brew that causes immense swelling upon contact. Its rather simple to brew taking only an hour at most. Its antidote is a deflating drought, which is probably next on Sabels list to perfect. The potion acts quickly, swelling often leaves nasty stretch marks and bruising on the victims skin. Often needing a healer to cure the blemishes. The swelling will cause extreme discomfort and the loss of use of limbs. In some extreme cases it can cause temporary loss of sight, smell, and if any gets lodged up the nose or swallowed: a dangerous choking hazards if not given the antidote quickly.
Making it is fairly simple, the potion on requires a consistent even stirring for 20 minutes and then left to simmer. If done correctly it should be a bright lime green that bubbles consistently. One has the bottle the brew quickly else wise they risk of one of the bubbles creating a splash over as it pops.
Ingredients
2 small bat spleens
3 dried crushed nettles
2 eyes of puffer fish
4 tablespoons of toad slime
Range: Has to make physical contact.
Times Per Day: Its shelf life is about two weeks; so Sabel can carry a few vials on her at a time. Each brew only creates 2 vials each containing one dose.
Extra/Drawbacks: If she accidentally gets some on herself she is affected by the potion just as anyone else would be. It does take some time to make. The ingredients have to be all added in exactly 2 minute intervals with out breaking a consistent stirring pace, else wise the potion is not effective.
( As your character buys or trains for new spells and abilities they will be placed below your original spell/ability line and placed within this section here. Remember to update this section whenever you buy a spell/ability or update it. Spell and Item upgrade tickets can be purchased in Balma's shop.. )
Combat: HA! Ha ha Sabel is over here laughing at the idea. No Sable has no combat ability what so ever at the moment, much to her dismay. Though she's been known to toss one of her potions at an unlucky individual once or twice.

Biography
History: After two sisters her father became frustrated that his wife did not yet bear him a son. One drunken frustrated night he slept with a prostitute at the black lotus. 9 months later he found an infant girl left on the doorstep of his manor. His wife agreed to raise the girl, less the secret of his lack of loyalty get out. However she was raised as an adopted child; with no blood relation.
Sabel grew up thinking she was adopted, but she was happy. For the most part. Her mother never seemed quite happy with her, and her father was absent a lot serving in the courts. Though when he was home he was kind and paid her plenty of attention. At least he did until her adoptive mother finally bared a son. Then Carl became the golden child.
Things after that got a little worse, for her father no longer paid much attention to Sabel. It was nothing horrible, least not by most standards. Sabel just could tell her mother treated her...differently. But she never really could call it mean or abusive. It just seemed like she never could do a thing to please her. It was just as though she lost any loving support.
Her sisters were soon sent off to finishing school, as was custom for young ladies of a noble house hold. When Sabel came of age she was excited for her turn as well; as clumsy and inept as she was. She hoped that the school where her sisters were learning to be ladies could teach her some grace as well. However it seem that was not to be.
Sabel was a clumsy, socially inept child; not as pretty as her sisters, nor as graceful. Chances of her being successful in the court were slim; never mind finding a suitable marriage for the girl. Instead it was decided Sabel could do the family credit in a different way.
So at the age 12 she was sent to the temple of Ai to train as a priestess; safe to say she did not succeed in this environment. She was awkward, and socially inept. That she thought what the temple of Ai preached was a bunch of crockpot shit.
One good thing came out of her time with the temple, and that was learning how to read her letters; as soon as she was able she began to visit the library. During which time she discovered her first book on potion making.
Now magic was not something the Ashwinder family dabbled in, it was well known Noku disliked mages and the Ashwinder family prided itself not a single ancestor ever touched the stuff. Nor were they able. So the subject was considered taboo...probably why young Sabel found it so attractive.
For laughs she tried a simple recipe; knowing it wouldn't work unless a mage prepared it...but at age of fourteen it seemed like a fun thing to pretend. Much to her shock, and the poor temple sap who confiscated the slop, her potion worked.
Meanwhile in finishing school; one of her sisters leaked that Sabel was the bastard child that their father had with a prostitute. The little bit of gossip, spread like wild fire. Soon Sabel found herself kicked out of the temple, do to being a being that was a 'direct affront to Ai's sacred vows'.
Seeing how there reputation was ruined already with the secret being out, Sabels parents agreed when she asked to continue her education at the arch of ages. So as the new school year started, Sabel began her first year at the Arch.
