Snow Lessons Nyx/Yuki [Complete]

[Nyx]

Nyx had been out on of the training grounds, the sun was barely up but wanted to get in a bit of practice before any of her students showed up for the combat class. Even though she was now a teacher at the Arch of Ages she was still felt weird at times dressing in clothes of Nova fashion though she was not going to lie she did miss wearing shorts and tank tops it was easier to move in them compared to some of the clothes she now had to wear and adapt to. Though she was glad when she had found someone that could make Nova appropriate clothes but also suited her style without her having to feel like she was wearing something not meant for her.



Currently she in was a pair of long dark pants and a long shirt over top, the sleeves were rolled up to her elbows as she did her warm up stretches before. During the whole time she didn’t notice the petite blonde female who was watching her from the arch way.



Once her stretches were done she picked up her fans, closing her eyes she went though her normal warm up stances. As she moved with the fans it almost looked like a dance, her feet moving back, with the spins that were added as her hands moves the fans blocking, jabbing and even at times she would be seen snapping the fans shut as if she had a caught a blade in between them as she twisted the fan. Upon finishing she hear a single applaud turning she saw that it was the girl she had seen in the entrance exam and she was also in her combat class.



“Good morning Yuki-chan you are up early.” Nyx greeted the female as she saw her walking over. She watched as Yuki gave a small bow to her and greeted her in turn.



Yuki has been watching Nyx and she was in awe at her movements it looked like an elegant and beautiful dance while also a bit deathly at the same time. It wasn’t until Nyx was done did she cheer for her teacher. Quickly she made her way across the training ground to where Nyx was after the morning greeting she started to shift a bit wondering if she asked that Nyx would say no.



Taking a deep breath Yuki finally looked up at Nyx and spoke. “Professor North could you teach me that dance?”



As Yuki waited for a reply she saw a shock cross Nyx’s face before she heard a bell like giggle from her mouth. Making the blonde haired female wonder if she had said something wrong, that was until Nyx spoke again. “Little Yuki-chan it’s not a dance it’s a style of martial arts from my kingdom. It’s taught to mainly females who…” Shaking her head. “Never mind why but if you like I could show you a bit though I would have to ask Headmaster Adrain if it’s okay I properly instruct you in this form of combat, okay.”

Yuki’s eyes brighten up as she nodded her head though she did hope that Adrain would allow her to learn the form of combat.



Nyx smiled at Yuki before lightly hitting her on the head with one of the fans. “Now if you want to learn we have to start off slow. We will go use one fan and you will need to learn how to proper flick your wrist to open the fan and shut it that it becomes almost second nature.” She stated and she handed one of the fans to Yuki and showed her the proper way to hold the fan, correcting her if she held it wrong, as she slowly went into showing her the basic few ways to open the fan.

Gabriel gave one of his fellow priests the job of taking care of the room of Ai since he was informed by Yuki that she would need him to accompany her to the Arch of Ages. Though Gabriel agreed to it since he was to be Yuki’s bodyguard he was somewhat unexcited to go to a place of magic since it wouldn’t be in his element. He mainly packed his staff, and his dagger, wearing his normal robes would had made him stand out a bit too much, before the trip he asked Amiee if there was any other clothes by chance for him to borrow for a few days, Since he usually wore his robes or his combat clothes that were under the robes, The arch wouldn’t have been the best place for him to wear those clothes. And borrowed a few pairs of clothes for the trip.

Gabriel would stand close to Yuki as he watched professor North start teaching Yuki martial arts, fairly intrigued since he never seen people fight effectively with fans, In the school there were some people who tried to fight with fans but it didn’t end too well for them, they never really shown any achievements with assassination though fighting in actual fights were different, it was fairly difficult during that time for Gabriel to understand the movements, hopefully he get a better look at them this time. “Fans hm? It seems fairly interesting, do you mind if I watch professor North?”

Nyx was slowly showing Yuki the basic hand movements she notice another person with blonde hair. She didn’t know how she missed him but if anything for now she would worry about it later. “I see no reason why you can’t watch.” She said as continued to instruct Yuki taking it slow so that she could see her own actions and watch her repeat it.



Once Yuki got the basic of the hand moments Nys started to show her the proper stances to stand in. Each time Yuki would either have not have her hips angled the properly or her feet were not position properly Nyx would hit her lightly with the fan telling her to correct it or even move her body. After about thirty minutes Nyx finally got Yuki to standing properly with her hands position with her hands. Anyone who was watching closely could tell that Yuki’s body wasn’t comfortable because it was working muscles that she didn’t know existed.



“Okay now Yuki we are going to do a simple step forward with your back leg as your stepping forward I want you to front hand forward with your body as your twist your hips. Now as your hand is moving forward make the fan is turned horizontal to the ground, so that it does like a horizontal slash.” Yuki nodded her hand as listened to Nyx, before Nyx demonstrated what she said first time she did it quickly that Yuki almost missed if it she blinked, the second time she slowed it down a little doing it step by step.



Thinking she got it Yuki stepped forward, as she stepped she hips didn’t twist with her movements so as she did the slash it caused her to lose her balance a bit. Nyx seeing this caught Yuki and told her to do it again this time she stood behind Yuki guiding her through the motions. A small blush rose her cheeks at how close Nyx was and that she could feel the heat of her breath on her neck as she, hands were placed on her hips so when when she moved through the motions the next time it was perfect.



Soon Nyx’s hands were off her waist as she stood in front of her. “Again this time remember to twist your hips.” Folding her arms she watched Yuki with a keen eye making sure that she did it properly as she made her go though the basic step over and over wanting her it to become body memory. “So I’m guessing you’re a friend of Lady Yuki.”

Gabriel looked carefully while professor North was showing Yuki how to use the fans as a weapon, Due to his training and his Physical Aptitude he was able to understand the main points on how the fighting style works fairly quickly though imitating it may take a few times. Gabriel smiled as he watched Yuki continue to practice using the fans as she slowly went through the motion, though it was almost obvious how she was not used to the stances and using the various muscles in her body.

Though Gabriel watched the fighting style he knew if he was to try it exactly it wouldn’t work well. After all the training Gabriel had been through he knew that the style was made exclusively for women. As professor North showed Yuki the various motions and helped her through it Gabriel saw the muscles that generally were stronger on women were used much more, even if Gabriel imitated the style perfectly it would take much for effort and put a much larger strain on his body to go at the speed he wished to.

As he continued to watch he would be asked a question by professor North “I’m Gabriel, Lady Yuki’s friend and bodyguard as well. I hope you don’t mind me watching, I learned many combat styles and using a fan is probably one of the most unique styles I have seen in my life.” Gabriel said before putting his staff on the ground and taking a seat on the ground.

“It is nice to meet you Gabriel, and I don’t mind you watching. Though you are right it is a unique style but I can see it as something that Lady Yuki can learn to master given her small frame.” Nyx said softly as she reminded standing while watching Yuki, she could see the bead of sweat forming on her forehead. It was nice to good to see that the girl was willing to keep trying even if her muscles were burning from the lack of being used.



“Gabriel would you be willing to help me show Lady Yuki how a block would be done?” Nyx asked while looking down at the blonde haired male. She did hope that he said yes because it would be easier to show Yuki how it’s done so that the little one had an idea on how it would look once she got more experience and training with the unconventional weapon.



Calling Yuki over Nyx smiled at her. “Yuki would you like to see a little bit on how it’s done to defend yourself with the fans.?” Nyx asked while extending her hand out, signaling that she needed her fan back. Yuki handing over the other fan. “Yes please.” Her voice was soft with excited in seeing how it would look in a real situation.



Yuki took a seat on the ground, making sure that her dress tucked under her as watched Nyx walk out to the center of the training ground waiting for Garbiel to join her. Taking a single breath Nyx took up her stance, the fans closed.

Gabriel smiled “Sure I wouldn’t mind, I hope my staff would be sufficient?” Gabriel said as he picked up his staff and walked close to Nyx as he saw Yuki took a seat not too far from them. After getting in stance with his staff he would wait for a signal. Once the signal from Nyx was given he would let the staff slide so the middle and top of the staff was where he held it, taking a small step the staff would swing from left to right, though he was sure Nyx would block it, he made sure there was a hairline gap between her and the staff so it would definitely miss.

After the first hit Gabriel looked at Nyx “If showing how to block with the fan is what we’re aiming for. Should we do a mock fight? Seeing the blocks from different angles may help Lady Yuki understand it a bit more.”

[Nyx]

Nyx smiled, “The staff is fine since it’s just blocks. Now for now I just want you to try and attack me but a bit slow so that Yuki can see how it’s done.” She said as waited for him start the mock assault once she nodded her head. Watching the staff she took a step back as she rose her left hand up blocking the attack, with her left hand sweeping out with the fan making contact with the wood. She did have hesitant on following through with the next step to do a full attack but then remembered that she was meant to just show Yuki how to block.



“That would work and then I could follow through and show continuous blocks.” She said looking at Yuki. While Yuki was watching she saw how natural Nyx’s movements were as she stepped and how her hands seem to just move with the grace of a dancer to block the staff attack. “Oh a mock fight I would love to see that if you both are okay with it.” She voiced liking the idea of seeing how to use the fans for combat.

“Okay then let's just go through basic combat, close and mid range combat no magic and maybe we should slow it down abit. Since this is a practice match.” Gabriel smiled as he said that, hopefully he would be able to have some fun without it being life or death, not being able to fight for fun with his staff was a dull point on his life at the moment.

Getting into a different stance this time with his staff he held it while standing up with is staff completely horizontal, once they started gabriel would start with a few jabs on his staff before begining to spin it aiming for the professor’s sides. He would continue to slowly speed up to see how far he should go before slowing back down.

[Yuki D'Avranches]

“Aww no magic but this is a school of magic.” Nyx stated as she fanned herself a bit. “But understandable. Also how slow did you want us to go.” Throwing one of the fans up in the air she watched as it flipped a bit before coming back down. Grabbing it out of the air she flicked it open. “Let’s have fun okay.”



Yuki remained seated as she watched Nyx take a fighting stance watching the both of them fight her eyes widen in awe as the movements it looked more like a dance compared to them fighting.
As she watched she wondered if she would be able to move like that one day or if it was beyond her abilities. 


Nyx was smiling as she fought Garbiel, for most of it she just defended bring up her fans with calculated blocks. Reach jab she would block it with the fans or dodge it. Standing a good distance away from him still smiling as she watched him spin the the staff as he started to attack not expecting the attack at her side she whine a little. Narrowing her eyes at him she decided to do this for real, now. Flicking her fan open she decided to see if she could find a way though his defense and attack. Doing her best to block and dodge watching him for any small sign of weakness.

Gabriel smiled as they fought, hearing about the magic problem Gabriel moved closer to Nyx as they kept fighting “Maybe next time when I have a weapon that won’t break from a magic hit.” After saying those words Gabriel did a small leap back while doing a sidesweep with the staff, first swinging to the left, then to the right and afterwards gabriel swung his staff down for a overhead slam the hook would be aimed towards Nyx to hopefully pull the fans away, though if any of the hits connected he would stop at that swing.

Nyx smiled as they were locked in combat understanding where he was coming from. “Well if you like I’m sure I can get something made for you that would withstand some magical attacks.” Watching as he lept back she did best dodging the attacks though most of them came pretty close to hitting her. Finally it happened the moment she was waiting for as the hook of his staff grabbed onto one of her fans. Letting go of the fan she grabbed onto the staff stopping the movement of the staff. “Want to call it?”

Gabriel smiled after Professor North grabbed his staff “Yeah, we should probably stop there since this is just a practice match.” Once Nyx let go of the staff Gabriel would pull the staff back to him and hold it straight up. “It’s a nice offer but I might just work with what I got for now, and probably work to get one later on.” refusing the offer for Professor North to go through the effort for making a weapon for him he looked towards Yuki “Hey Yuki you okay over there?”

Nyx smiled at Gabriel, when she had his staff. “You fight well with your staff. You should come back again it was fun fighting you.” She said before letting go of his staff, flipping her fans shut she pouted a bit when he denied her offer to get a weapon made for him. Turning to look at Yuki she said that the girl’s eye were wide, causing Nyx to giggle a bit.



During the fight Yuki had watched both of them, and her earlier thoughts returned it wasn’t a fight it was dance between two skilled warriors. The way that Nyx moved as if she knew what Gabriel was going to do next, and even the way that Gabriel would attack as if he was responding to some unknown force. Before she knew it they had finished, hearing the questions she nodded her head. “I’m okay just now… I don’t have words for it.” Nyx laughed a bit happy that Yuki enjoyed the little pratice fight. “You know Yuki if you practice with me one day you would be able to hold your own again Gabriel.”

“I’ll probably come back when Yuki does, I don’t have too much free time as a high priest and a bodyguard after all, and yes having a fight that wasn’t life or death was enjoyable since those don’t happen too often nowadays.” Looking between the two Gabriel smiled as he waited for Yuki to say something.

“Maybe someday she’ll be able to. Though it’ll take a lot of training. And she should decide on which weapon to use first.” Gabriel said remembering how Gabriel taught Yuki to fight using daggers not too long ago. Looking back at professor North, Gabriel smiled “Well next time we should have a more competitive match, though I prefer using my staff. Daggers might be a better match up against those fans.” Gabriel said as he waited to see what would happen next.

[Nyx]

“That would be nice. Though I am happy that the high priest here knows how to handle themselves in a fight. Which God or Goddess do you serve if you don’t me asking?” Nyx asked, since she was a bit curious about which God that Gabriel served for him to be a skilled with a staff. “Oh I didn’t know that Yuki-chan was learning another weapon.” Turning to look at little blonde haired child wondering what other weapon she was learning how to use.



Feeling eyes on Yuki’s cheeks lit up a bit .”Gabriel was teaching me how to daggers.” Hearing this it gave Nyx a new ideas on what type of fan to have commissioned for Yuki once she got Adrain’s permission that it was okay to teach her this style of fight. Feeling hand on her shoulder Yuki looked up to see Nyx smiling at her before she felt her boop her nose, shaking her head a bit looking at the woman. “I think I have an idea on how to give you the best of both worlds little snowflake.” This left Yuki in thought about first was what ash Nyx thinking and second hearing someone other than her mother call her snowflake it was kind of nice to hear it.



Nyx turned back to Gabriel hearing him say next time maybe they could fight a bit more competitively. “Well if you want we can do a staff fight, my primary weapon is a staff. I have my fans as my secondary weapon.” She said smiling at the man. “Though daggers would be a fair match against the fans for sure.”
