Diamond walks about the castle and goes to find Rolland as he wanted to get insight on the man. As he did not know anything on the man. Plus wanted to see this man's stance on everything. Since he might have saved him from some hell from Severine. As well as not spending a few nights in the dungeon, so that woman would gloat all over him. He find's Rolland's office and knocks on the door before coming into the man's office. "We need to talk a bit on whats going on right now. I want to get more info on the situation since I am now brought into this" he said as this man had to earn a bit of his respect. As again he knew nothing on this man as he was not a citizen of Nova or born from the area. His company did not have any info on Nova or anyone in power so he was flying a bit blind.

The door opened and a short young woman looked up at Diamond, her smile brilliant against her deep umber skin. She’s finely dressed in pale silks and her dark hair is intricately braided into hundreds of smaller braids, then pulled back again into a massive braid that fell down her back. Aveline raised an eyebrow up at Diamond, tilting her head up at him.
“May I help you, Sir?” she looked back into the office, towards Roland. “Captain Walker, there is someone here to see you.” she stepped out of the way, holding the door open for Diamond. “Please, do come in.”

Roland's voice could be heard from the other room in conjunction with a chorus of scribing. "At a time like this?! Who is it? If it's Serevine tell her I'm out fighting horrors or something." He grunts, knowing full well that it was not Serevine, but deciding to voice the comment.
Roland had been filled with vigor since the attack, tackling his work with twice the ferocity he had before, but Aveline would probably be able to see that he was still not truly recovered from the weeks of deprivation he had suffered at the hands of his own conscience.

Diamond was not expecting Rolland having a attendant and answering the door. On closer inspection the woman looked a bit like the woman he wanted to see pay for her actions. But would not take it out on this woman as she seemed innocent enough. He would let time to judge her character before he made a opinion. "I take an insult to that comment good sir. At least I can be better company then her" said Diamond in a very amused tone of voice and walks in. He sees him dealing with a lot of paper work and knew it must have been a pain in the ass. "Diamond Corsica here, I need to know a few things that are going on here Walker" he said using the man's last name since he could not say commander or boss just yet. Perhaps this would be a distraction for him, at least for awhile. He hoped that the young lady would not take too much offence to him.

“I wish you would refer to my mother by her title, at least in my presence. Captain Walker.” Aveline shifted uncomfortably as Diamond walked inside. The taller man was already making her feel uncomfortable with his social bluntness, even more so than Roland did. At least she was used to his moods by now. She continued into the next room, picking her work back up. She’s been examining a chunk of wood, chipping away at some sort of chemical film on the surface. It’s strange work for such a refined looking woman. She looks back up at Diamond continues to speak. She grimaces.
“Please refer to Captain Walker by his title as well, sir. He is your superior here.”

As Diamond enters the room he would find Roland working on a form and beside him three quills filling out additional forms, moving under their own power, filling out each sheet in a neat hand. The guard captain looks up at the man and frowns, though more because that was the default expression on his face than for any malice it may hold.
"Good your here." He says in a gruff voice as his expression slowly turns to one of neutrality. "I had been planning on introducing you two when I got a chance. Meet Lady Aveline Zoe, daughter of Sere-"
"-Adviser Zoe and aide to captain of the guard." The quill pens had all stopped moving when his attention fell on Diamond and his aide. "A word of warning, the Adviser has ears everywhere, even here. Though thankfully the ones here have assented to not sharing all of my doings." Roland admits, with a smile and soft chuckle. He knew full well Aveline had to report on what he did to Serevine, but the two had come to an agreement that she would check what she was going to pass on with him.
"Anyways Lieutenant Corsica, while I have no objection to you calling me Walker in private when we are in public I need to be Captain Walker." He explains messaging his temples slightly then getting up and walking over to Diamond to extend a hand. "I may have drafted you forcibly, but that was mostly to prevent a very costly stir. I can't let you leave once you actually start becoming a public figure, but if you want out of the guard and are willing to leave the city I will let you go." Roland assures him, doing his best to be at least somewhat political.

Diamond sees the guesture for a handshake and would have been rude not to do so. He gave a firm grip to Rolland's hand and shook it. "Yes well I am already unfortuently a public figure now. I am already hearing wispers of those that I walk by. I'm going to give her at least a chance. Since some children are different then there parents" he said and found a chair after shaking hands with Rolland. "I sometimes forget formalities at times, just due to being a mercenary. Anyway, don't feel right hunting down the Fated like animals. Perhaps its just me being a outsider like them in a sense where I don't see them all as evil. Perhaps the bad apples are drowning out the good ones" he said voicing a bit of his opinion a bit. He knew that what he said would have been sent to the snake. He was not that smart to pull of political shinanigans yet since he did not get a good feel for everything.
"But at the same time, what they did was wrong. As that recklessness almost wiped out the third district. But both sides need to stop escalating as I can already tell that if this continues. Things will not get better and it may lead to war. Normally as a mercenary this would be a good thing for profit. But something just does not sit well with me. This is just my honest opinion" he said seeing that, it would be better to be upfront with Rolland then just making some bullshit. "It may sound contrary on my part due to my line of work. But again this is my opinion on the matter. Now here is the thing, your going to have to earn my loyalty. Yes you could have let me make an ass out of myself and be thrown in the dungeon for a few weeks. But you see something in me that can be used in your arsenal" he said as he knew that some how he was going to be used for some kind of means. As he had a feeling that if he left, the man could use a BS reason and keep him in the city and be in his guard.

Roland frowns at Diamond's comments regarding Aveline. "She's my aide, regardless of her heritage she is a comrade. I care little about where those who work for me come from so long as they do their job and do it well. Though I hold my people to just as strict a standard of the law as I do the citizens of this realm. Break it and you will be thrown in jail. I just want you to understand everything you are signing up for before you take the option to stay or go." He explains before walking back around his desk and taking a seat.
The quills around him suddenly spark back to life, writing on the pages laid before them. When Diamond mentions he does not like the treatment towards the Fated Roland shrugs. "After the attack it is reasonable to try and at least get an idea of who they are and what they can do. I am not in favor of imprisoning them for just being Fated, we only did that originally because they might interfere with the execution, which they did end up doing." He grunts.
Though Diamond then says something that causes Roland to look up at him and place down his quill pen. A tremendous amount of magic begins to gather in the room as Roland says. "I do my job to the best of my abilities every day. I am not going to make some special effort to earn anyone's loyalty of affection. If you cannot respect hard work, or be loyal to the kingdom or the law then we can make this short. No one who works under me is a tool, they are my fellow guards, and I did not spend ten years in the city guard before joining the palace guard to belittle them as simple tools." As he finishes talking the almost painful shine that had appeared in his eyes dims to a dull glow and the magic around them begins to dissipate.
Roland watched Diamond, waiting to see what he would do next, the vision of stern and stalwart duty.

Diamond saw a lot of contridictions or things he saw as such with Rolland. "There is a reason why I said that you would have to earn my trust. I do not trust you and even though there is money to be had. My gut feeling is telling me if I work for you. I may end up dead, not as result of battle but political bullcrap. Such as Severine, as she used Claire as a political scheme. The woman was not Fated but branded as such, and you allowed it to happen. Causing that attack on the gallows, and I am sure you tried to do your best on the matter. But Severine still won out in the end. I have no trust in your ability to make sure those that are under you are safe. And even those that are not from Nova safe" he said and gets up and looks at Rolland. Having a bit of disgust for the man as he did not understand why he was pushing that matter.
"I can do hard work and I do for coin, but me dieing due to a crow's political schemes no. I do not mind getting killed in battle as warrior's death. Or sacrificing myself for the greater good. But dieing like a simpleton due to a noble's machinations that is something I will not take lightly. None the less this conversation has taught me something. As long as Severine has power over you. I can not work for you as you have no power to fight for your men. Plus you are blinded by your job as you think I would fall in line like a normal person in your guard. Or I voice my concern, your going to say suck it up, don't question it and do your job. As well as say if you don't like it leave. Which I see as a problem, as that I can me dismissed for something that I could be right on. But since you don't want conflict and wanting order. I can see a lot of blunders happening. So to that end and I hate to say this as a professional. I quit" he said as he saw the man very much detached from others. Which could be a detriment to others in the future.
In his opinion if a person was in command got to know his men a lot more. It would instill comaradery between them all and make better bonds or loyalty. They would be far more willing to do things for there commander and go above and beyond there duties. So far he did not see that and understood that there was professionalisim with your job to make yourself not a welcome mat. But again there are some points where you need to drop it with some people.
