Melda felt she needed protection. There had been a lot going on lately, from the trials, attempt at murder, the Fated going berserk… She felt unsafe. She wasn’t worried, nor was she frightened. She wanted that extra assurance that someone would protect her if she were ever caught off guard. She had heard of a man who went by Diamond— he was apart of Rolands team at some point, but she’d never met the man. She was fairly sure he and the captain were not on the best of grounds, but Melda’s goal was not to appease the captain. Diamond seemed like he could do the job she needed, though she wasn’t entirely sure of his abilities. Lest he prove her wrong, she would keep him around.
Melda sent an assistant of hers to find the rumoured man, figuring it best to leave Roland out of the matter— living in the castle long as she had, she’d still only spoken to the man on various occasions. She kept to herself. She wasn’t entirely sure of where to send the assistant, so she had him search the districts. She wanted to put out an announcement of her search, but she was wary of the type of people it would attract. Better to try other options first.
The assistant had gone through the first and second districts, not having much luck. Near the end of the day, around sunset, he wound up at the Gallows Inn. The Duchess had instructed him to check everywhere he could, excluding the Forever Forest and Springs— no need to go to such extremes. He found her to be an odd woman, quite and reserved, yet there was something about her that gave him shivers. Like there was a sheet of ice constantly rolling off her skin. The assistant entered the Inn, looking around the bar front where most people hung out. He had a vague remembrance of what the man looked like, but not enough to spot him here. Instead, he stood on a table and stomped loudly, waiting for it to quiet down a bit.
“EXCUSE ME. IF I MAY HAVE YOUR ATTENTION.” He waited a moment, clearing his through. “Is there a Mr. Diamond Corsica present?"

Diamond had came back to Nova looking for work again and was glad he did though. As it seemed that some bad stuff had happened in the castle. He was not sure what it was, but had heard that there was a assassination attempt again on the King. This did make him slightly worried that the guard were being rather incompitant but it did fuel the theory that the old hag was behind it. None the less, Diamond was enjoying a fine brew of mead as it was sweet and tasty. His pack was by his feet. The white haired male had his back to the wall that was watching the door. Always watching and keeping his back protected. What came in the door next raised an eyebrow. Especially when the messenger had gotten on the table and asking for his name. Diamond finishes the pint of mead in several gulps and placed it back on his table. "Who asks for me" he said loud enough to be heard after the hushed silence. Who ever it was, must have been important to search for him.

Hearing a voice in the crowd, the assistant made his way off of the table, now standing in front of it instead.
“You have been asked for, by name, by the Duchess Melda Delsaran Vanya. It is by her request that you come to her in the castle at once.” His voice was nervous and skittish— he was very obviously not sent away on such errands often. That, and the white haired man made him nervous. The assistant was not fully informed as to why Melda wanted Diamond present, aside from she had a job for him.
“So if you will Sir, I am to escort you there."

Diamond had expected perhaps a higher end merchant or guild leader but one of the nobles. That did make him raise an eyebrow with him and walked over to the messeneger. "Well, let us be on our way then ser" he said and grabbed his pack and came back over. He would be interested into seeing what this woman wanted with him. It seemed to him that he was making this person nervious, or perhaps the clientell of the Gallow's Inn made him on edge. "I do not want to make your mistress waiting" he said kindly and was ready to go and see what was going on.
