Hunting and Traveling (Kail/Open)

Gabriel after 3 years decided to leave the small village on the edge of the forest to go to nova. Though it's was close to winter and was told by the villagers it would be better if he left when it was spring since there would be a chance of finding more people, Gabriel insisted that he must hurry and get to nova as soon as possible. The villagers told him to stay on the shoreline of the forest and he'll reach nova in no time, but Gabriel decided against it knowing that with how lightly he packed, carrying only his staff, his robes, a sack, and a hunting knife he would need to hunt down at least a few hides and pelts before reaching Nova.


Hoping that the hunt would make enough to at least last him a few days at nova even if it was winter, with that in mind Gabriel headed into the center of the forest. Now about roughly a week and a half has passed. Having a decent start when he first left the village, he was able to track down and hunt 2 stray forever deers before winter came and snowed covering the majority of the tracks. Leaving Gabriel wandering the forest hoping to find some tracks or signs of life in the forest while surviving on the food from his hunting. Due to the non stop snowing covering the ground as he walked. It made tracking anything almost impossible if he couldn't find fresh tracks.


Gabriel was now walking through ankle deep snow in robes, a small hunting knife hidden in his sleeves and a handmade staff having a hook in the top giving him an increased reach. Using it Gabriel hooked it to a branch pulling himself up to a tree to get a better view of the forest yet again hoping to find some sign of life or a path out using his enhanced vision. Believing he would see the same thing as he seen every other day he wasn't expecting to find a deer near the edge of his vision.


Gabriel estimated it to be about 25ft away using his staff to swing through the branches he started shortening the distance fast. 20ft, 18ft, 16ft, While knowing the deer would run if he continued at his pace he slid the dagger from his sleeve holding it in one hand. While aiming at the deer's skull he pulls on the staff hooked to a branch, lifting him up higher giving him a better view of the skull he swung his hand down having the knife fly through the air and from a distance of about 15ft. Abit lower then Gabriel expected the dagger pierced the base of his skull, though it was a fatal wound where the deer would die it did not kill the deer instantly thus his prey started running leaving a trail of blood that was hard to miss especially in the white snow. Not missing the opportunity Gabriel continued after the deer while chasing it through the forest as the deer finally drops dead a few minutes later.


As Gabriel walks up to the deer pulling his dagger from its neck he hears a rustling sound on a bush about 5 ft from him. Dropping the dagger between his feet, Gabriel held his staff in both hands ready for combat as he says “show yourself!”

Kail had gotten back to Gallows Bane awhile ago and had needed to get out for awhile to clear his head. The blond had traveled down to the forever forest. He had armed himself though with his powerful magical cannon of doom. The Manna Railgun and a few knives along with any heavy winter clothing. He needed to make sure that it would fit in well with the wilderness around him. He moved around carefully since things would be slim for predators. As the blond did it seemed that he was not the only human being that was around. Since rather close by a fresh deer had been killed by this guy and was going to show himself but then looked behind the guy and saw a charging male buck coming for this guy. Without any hesatation Kail moves out and in a swift action takes out the crossbow like weapon and gets ready to fire. As the weapon charged with electricity "Stay still" was all he said. Then pulled the trigger and the weapon fired it wizzed by Gabriel's head far faster then any arrow or bolt. The metal spike slaming into the buck's head instantly killing it.

"......Sorry about that, did not expect another person out here at this time of the year" he said and lowers his weapon. For the hunter though he would see some of Kail's attire not of this world as his glasses were framed over his eyes. As well as his footwear as they were not something that was made in Nova or other places within that world. Kail was curious of this individual since again it was the first person he saw in awhile since he had been out there.

After listening to the Mysterious guy, Gabriel watched as the shot flew by his neck followed by an outline of electricity. Turning his head to see what was being aimed at, as the spike pierced the buck. Realizing that this guy was most likely not an enemy."Don't worry about it just give me a second" Gabriel shoved the base of his staff into the snow so it would hold, sliding his foot underneath the dagger in the snow he kicked it up and grabbed it with his right hand before moving towards the deer he killed moments ago, flipping it over making sure no blood got on his robes and started skinning it from its neck.

“Thanks for the help, though whatever that weapon was might have been a bit much against a buck” Gabriel said as he pointed towards the incapacitated buck dyeing the snow around its head with blood, before making one last cut on the neck grabbing a handful of skin above the wound and pulling hard,causing most of the skin to come off the deer’s neck laying it towards the body away from the wound before standing up.

Gabriel then slowly walked towards the mysterious man eying his attire before looking back up to the man’s eye “Sorry about that, it would had been a pain to get rid of the bloodstain later on” Putting his dagger back to its sheath inside the robe on his right arm as he says “Name’s Gabriel I came from a small village at the other side of the forest, a self-proclaimed priest if you will. Sorta got lost while hunting about a week or two ago while heading towards Nova, been hoping to meet someone in this forest to get some direction.” Gabriel seeing that the man's clothes was still relatively clean knew he had to come from somewhere close by " By chance is that where you came from?"

"Well this weapon was made for killing things that are a lot more harder to get through an armored hide. And no problem just surprised by another individual out here that's all" said Kail as he watches the hunter start breaking down both animals. That was until he spoke and introduced himself as well as tell his situation. Kail raised an eyebrow but he honestly did not know much outside of Nova. Since he had been in Nova for a year and had been fighting for his survival this entire time. "Saddly I did not come from Nova, but I can point you in the direction you can go" the blond said and orintaded himself. Then pointed in one direction to the road that could take him there "If you go that way, you will find a road that will take you to Nova. I can lead you to it but thats it. I'm not too welcomed in Nova right now" he said as it was partially true. Since the majority saw the fated as just monsters that needed to be exterminated from there world. For Kail though it was much worse since had cut off some of Helena's wings and well her followers wanted his blood. And to sacrifice him to applease there goddess as he had some wack jobs come after him.

"Need help breaking down that animal? I have some fire starting materials on me so we can make a fire to cook and smoke the meat if we have to. There is a spot thats a good set up not too far from here" said the blond as two deer would be enough for several meals and such.

“I noticed, and is it that rare to find people in this forest? I’d thought there be hunters and gatherers all over the forest since there usually is some materials that can only found during the winter.” Gabriel said before walking back towards the deer pulling out his knife again and started skinning the deer. starting at the base of the neck where he just stopped he leaned over the body making some deep cuts around the hooves. “It be great if you could make a fire somewhere near, no offense but you don't really look to much like a hunter with that outfit so i’ll probably just skin and break them down if you don't mind.” Gabriel laughs forgetting that wearing priest robes while hunting probably didn't make much sense either. “ you can keep the one you killed though if you want. Seeing how 2 deers would be able to feed a just the two of us for a few days”

Looking at the deer again Gabriel made very small and quick cuts throughout the deer’s body with the dagger, allowing him to pull off the skin without much effort throughout the whole process.“ i'm in no urgent rush to get to nova so if you're staying in the forest awhile longer i wouldn't mind keeping you company.” making the last cuts on the inner part of the legs Gabriel was able to easily pulled off the skin of the first deer checking it for any mistakes or breaks in the hide. “ looks good” he said as he flipped the hide over and  hung the hide on hooked part of his staff, before looking at the stranger “ Your not welcomed in Nova? I thought nova accepted anyone that came through its gates” Grabbing the legs of the deer with one hand and his staff with the other made him look weird due to the robe and slowly started to pull the deer through the snow “ well where did you want to set up camp again uh… sorry totally forgot to ask what was your name”.

"Alright fair enough, and my name is Killian Lancaster. And the reason I might not be liked in Nova? Have you heard of the current goings on? With the fated and the undead hoard that Helena unleashed on the city. I.....cut off two of Helena's wings during that siege. So yeah, I am just waiting for things to die down" Kail said to Gabriel as he walked a bit a way and was at his small camp site. Or just where he had put some of his things down and had a small fire pit just in case if he bagged anything. The blond goes to his bag and opens up a small box that had dry tinder in it. He had some wood but it had been in the snow so he placed the wood into the fire pit. He then takes out his sword and puts it in the middle of it. He lets the fire gems come to life and lets the heat come off the blade to dry out the wood. Seeing that he was able to do that, the blond puts the tinder at the base of the fire and gets a lighter out and flicks it a few times and the fire was started. Kail then gets several sticks and starts sharpening them slightly so that the could put the venison on there. The blond had some more wood to throw on. He would go and get more if need be, the blond was sitting on some pine bows that was off the snow at least. But would go and get some other building materials just for a small shelter if the weather turned bad.

"The fire is ready so bring the meat over when your ready" he called out to Gabriel since he did not know how far along he was.

“ I’ll be right there” Gabriel called out to Killian as she continued to drag the skinned deer towards the small camp. Dragging the body through the snow left a track of blood that slowly melted into the thick snow leaving the area with a pinkish color to it. Putting the body next to Killian, Gabriel looked at him “ Hmm i'm gonna just drag the buck over here and skin it here so we can continue talking in a second. You can cut the deer and cook it if you can. it be nice."

Gabriel left the deer, his sack, and staff at the fire before moving towards the buck not to far from them, grabbing it by the hooves and started dragging it through the snow to the camp again. After finally getting back to camp, Gabriel grabbed the bolt from the head of the buck's skull pulling it out and throwing it to Killian's foot, before taking out his dagger and started skinning the buck as well.
"You might want that back"


Remembering what Killian said before he left to make the camp fire, Gabriel started answering his questions.“Hmm I honestly been lost in the forest for some time so i haven't really heard of any news whatsoever. I didn't know a Goddess to do something that drastic though. I'm surprised though i wouldn't have expected anyone to be able to damage a Goddess that badly. “ Gabriel said surprisingly looking at the ground for a second before looking back up at Killian “ you know, Helena’s sort of the reason why I'm going to nova. There's something I needed to find out.” Gabriel said in a low voice before quickly changing the topic “ I guess i won't find any answers for the time being though. There is one thing i wanted to ask you though, In nova is there any place i could sell these hides?”
He cheerly says as he lifts the last hide in front of Killian.

"Alright......next time as a small tip. Keep the kill away from the camp site. It will prevent predators from coming here. Anyway, Just sharpen some sticks to put the meat on" said Kail as he brought out his own knife and it was a larger one and it was not something Nova made or anything in this world. He then starts slice and cut with some ease knowing what to cut and then avoid. So far it looked like the blond was able to get several steaks and other nice cuts off of the animal. "My first quest I had skinned down a blackskull drake and well. I'm wearing its bones on my wrists here. So I am no stranger to dealing with animals. I had the hide be made into armor among other things" he said and got a sheet of bark and placed the meat on to it. After getting what he could took the remains and took them pretty far from the camp site. Covered it with some snow and went back which took a bit. "Anyway.....yeah there should be several shops that would take a good quallity hide like that. Also take the antlers, some people do use those things in some medicines and other remedies" the blond recalled. Kail also got the hint that this guy had some kind of issue or beef with Helena. So he would drop that and anything related to that.

"You said you were a self proclaimed priest right? What god or goddess are you serving. I know its not Helena for one" Kail asked as he cleaned his hands and other parts of the blood. Perhaps he would find a hot springs or something on the way back or just go directly back to Gallows Bane. He gets several sticks and puts the meat on and puts it over the fire.

Gabriel grabbed his staff from the ground arm's reach away from him before using it to prop himself up. He then shoved it into the ground so the staff would prop up as he hung the hide on the hook, " Hmm don't worry about it to much Killian I been stuck in the forest for some time now and i haven't encountered any real threats " Gabriel said as he started looking around for some small branches and trees to gather sticks from. " hmm well I'm serving the goddess of love and desire Ai. and yeah had a bit of issues with Helena if anything you could say i'm trying to revenge and some clarification from Helena instead."Gabriel realized he might had said to much as he quickly walks towards a tree " Give me a second I'll go gather some sticks" 

As he reached the tree noticing that there were a few branches and bumps on the tree quickly using them as steps he was able to climb part way up the tree as he took out his knife from his sleeve and started cutting some parts of the branches that were decent sized to make into skewers, after cutting off about 10 pieces Gabriel dropped them onto the ground below him before climbing back down. hiding the dagger back into his sleeves he picked up the sticks and walked back to the camp a few meters away.

"Sorry about that. Heres some sticks it should be enough for now hopefully." Gabriel said as he dropped the sticks to the side, sliding the dagger out of his sleeve again he started carving the wood as well while watching Killian butcher the deers. "Anyways yeah I'm a self-proclaimed priest serving Ai it happened a few years back, just never really had the time to try to travel to Nova." Gabriel started laughing as he remembered he got lost just days after leaving the village " Sorry sorry for laughing suddenly, you must think I'm crazy or something. I just remembered how I almost instantly got lost in this forest trying to get to Nova." Gabriel continued to carve a tip to the wood with his dagger finishing a few skewers. "I got some of the skewers ready when ever your finished with the butchering Killian" Gabriel said as he started carving the last couple pieces of wood.
