A Little Shop of Wonders

Phee was setting out some newly finished toys on the display shelves and smiling at the children who were in the shop window looking in at the toys she had on display. The shop had been her parent's before it became her's and she had grown up here so she was used to all of this. One of her favorite things to do was leave one of her interactive toys in the window and activate it for the children who were window shopping right now. Slipping her hand into her pocket she gripped the control rod for the knight that was sitting on one of the music boxes on display. He stood up and even drew his sword, not that the sword actually detached from his hand. His shield was held up in front of him like he was defending himself from the children. It slowly walked towards the window which had some of the children squealing with joy while others were staring rather intently at it trying to figure out how it worked.

She then made it go through a few combat maneuvers to entertain them and even added some comedy in by having hit clunk itself in the head with the sword and stumble about or a little bit. Finally, she had it sit on the music box again and powered it down. She pulled her hand from her pocket and waved at the children with a smile before she picked up the broom and started to sweep the shop. She had been taught that a clean shop showed professionalism and commitment to one's work. She was humming a fast paced tune that she used to keep her pace going quickly while she was working or cleaning. She could have opened one of the music boxes she had in the shop but she didn't want to have to wind them back up just for sweeping the shop.

Amiee was enjoying the little shopping trip, her father had told her to drag Gabriel out with her since he needed to pull his weight around the Inn, minus the clothes that he brought from AI ever two weeks since the Goddess was unable to deliver them herself since she was a Goddess after all. Right now it was around high noon they had gotten most of they shopping done, it was mostly fresh food for the inn and some little things such as stopping at a few shoppings that do the delivery to the tavern of the different alcohol beverages they sell.



Walking hand in hand with Gabriel making sure that they didn't get separate since she had made him carry the stuff while she carried the money. Her eyes widen as she walked passed one the little shops with children pressed to the glass window. Looking inside she saw little dolls, toy soldiers, and even wooden stores. Tugging on Gabriel as she looked up at him her eyes pleading with him. "Can we go in, please. Just for a few moments plus Papa isn't expecting us back just yet." She said, not even waiting for an answer she let of Gabrial's hand heading towards the store.



Pushing open the door her eyes widen even more as they spotted a little stuff brown cat with a little button nose. It would be a great friend for Snowflake since she was lonely. Her eyes quickly looked towards the blonde haired woman humming a tune that was so familiar to her but she couldn't place it. "Um... sorry for walking in but I always walk by and never gotten a chance to come in." Doing a small sweep of the store until her eyes landed on a table off to the side with little figures on each side of the table, she only has seen something like it once before but it was years ago but she never really got a chance play with it. "Do you anything new?" She asked as she slowly made her way over to the table having completely forgotten about Gabriel.

After the short conversation Gabriel had with Calix he was “asked” to go and help Amiee with anything she needed, though Gabriel didn’t mind he believed maybe they could had worded it slightly better as he was walking besides Amiee making short conversations here and there throughout their trip until Amiee said she wanted to take a look at a store while dragging gabriel into the store as well. Holding a basket filled with food and other items with him in one hand it was a weird feeling for Gabriel as he didnt have is staff with him for the day. “Sure Amiee as long as we get to the inn by time Calix is expecting us that should be fine.” Gabriel said with a wary face, though he did enjoy the company of Amiee he did prefer if he didnt get dragged around the place.



Walking into the store with Amiee he noticed her going off on her own and taking a look at the various things at the shop. Wondering what type of store this was he slowly walked around the store standing behind Amiee with the basket on top of both his forearms like he was hugging it. Realizing by the figurines and the other wooden objects he realized it was a toy store as he watched amiee looking joyful.

The bell above the door rang telling her that someone had entered the shop and she finished sweeping quickly. Turning to face Amiee she just smiled, "If you didn't come in you couldn't shop. Kind of hard to do that if you can't see what I have to offer." Her tone of voice was light and her smile reached her eyes easily. She let Amiee wander around on her own, she wasn't one to be pushy with her customers as they usually found something they liked and would bring it to her. The chess table that Amiee was moving towards was one of the few pieces in the store now that her father had made.

While she hadn't failed to notice Gabriel she didn't engage him as he seemed to be escorting the woman who was looking around. Not to mention she didn't feel like he was all that approachable which was more likely her own issues coming forward. "Well, let us see here. I make everything by hand so most of whats on display is new or newer. Was there something in particular you were looking for?" She had moved over to be a bit closer so they weren't having to talk across the shop now.

Amiee smiled at the woman brightly and agreed that she couldn't shop if she didn't come inside. Before she knew it she was standing before the chess table, her fingers slowly tracing over the wood, the little figures it was beautiful but now that she was closer to table she noticed that it looks greatly different from the one she saw years ago, this one was made out of wood with a gloss finish for the figures while the one she had saw was made of glass. "I have seen this before at the house of a noble. This toy is favor by those of wealth and nobility." She stated in a questionable tone, her eyes sadden since she knows that she would never be able to afford the chess set plus she didn't know how to play either.



Moving away from the set she came upon the child size wooden weapons. Picking up a staff with a small hook she turned and smiled at Gabriel. "Look it looks similar to your own staff, Gabriel." Quickly she handed him the staff before she continues to look around the store until she came to the wooden box that looked similar to the one in the window. "Miss what is this box?"

Gabriel would walk around the store every couple minutes taking the time to look at the various toys that was around the store while Amiee and the person in the front was talking slightly. While moving back to stand next to Amiee since he was still following her and holding the food, he noticed her looking at a chess set and saying some things before going to the toy weapons, as he watch her pick up a toy staff that looked similar to his “ it does doesn't it Amiee,”


Gripping his hand he tightened the grip on the basket, forgetting that he didn't carry his staff with him today. it felt weird the staff was always with him for years, daydreaming slightly before coming back to the present gabriel noticed that Amiee was looking at yet another thing now. Deciding that it would probably be best if he just stood on the side for now and let them both talk gabriel looked at the shop owner “sorry miss but is there anywhere i can put this down for the time being?” he said with a smile hoping he was going to have a fairly safe place to put the items Amiee just bought not to long ago.

She watched her look at the chess table her father had made with his own two hands. She liked that Amiee was taking a liking to it though she wasn't sure how interested the woman was. The man with her seemed to be a bit out of place but she kept quiet about it. He picked up the staff when Amiee mentioned it was like the one he normally had with him and then put it back. As he asked if there was somewhere to put the basket of goods down she pointed to the checkout counter, "There should be enough room on the counter for it, if not let me know I'll move a few things."

It didn't take Amiee long to find one of the music boxes placed around the shop and ask about it. Phee moved over next to her and picked up the box in question to flip it over to turn the key in the bottom of it. She then set it down and looked Amiee, "Open the lid and find out Miss." Once Amiee opened the box she would hear the music start playing an upbeat tune that was popular among the lower class of Nova.

Amiee watched Gabriel for a few moments as he held the toy staff, she wondered what he was day dreaming about. Hearing him mention a place to rest down basket and bags she had more or less completely forgotten about the things they had brought earlier in the day. "I'm so sorry Gabriel."



Amiee watched Miss Phee turn a key at the bottom of the box if she wasn't curious about the box before now she truly was. Following the instructions she opened the box, she was surprised by the tune that played. It was one that she knew, not being able to help it she started to sing along with the tune as she did little twirls in place to avoid knocking anything over.



As the tune ended she turned and face Phee smiling as she picked up the box. She couldn't be helped that she wanted the box but she wasn't sure if she would have enough to buy it. After all, she did work and made money from tips and from her little street performances. "Miss how much for this?" Asking seeing that it was better to know and if needed she could save up to buy the box later on.

Gabriel heard what the person said and went towards the counter and put the stuff down “ Don’t worry about it Amiee, and thanks for letting me put our stuff here for the time being umm. Sorry i never caught your name” Gabriel said with a smile, having the items now on the counter he was able to relax abit not needing to make sure the items dont drop.

While listening to the short conversation about the box that Amiee and the woman was dealing with, as the box opened a nice tune started coming out from the box as Amiee began spinning to the tune as gabriel smiled thinking how adorable Amiee looked.

Standing behind Amiee as she asked the woman how much the box costed Gabriel wondered if they were going to be leaving soon if she’s wondering how much some items are. “Maybe ask your father if it costs too much Amiee, im sure he wouldn't mind buying you a toy “.

She smiled at the little solo and dance that Amiee pulled off as she listened to the music coming from the box.It was almost as if she was an adult sized child. When asked for her name by Gabriel she smiled, "Sorry about that I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Malpheena but, you can call me Phee. I'm the owner and craftsman of this shop."

She took the box once Amiee started asking about price and normally it was one of the more expensive items in the shop. She could tell the woman wanted it and it seemed she wasn't one to have a lot of money at any given time. She smiles a little bit at her, "How about this, I'll give you the box if you come back and model for me so I can make a doll based off of you. First one would be yours of course." It wasn't a bad offer and the woman was rather cute so she was pretty sure that the doll would be rather popular with the girls in the city.

Amiee looked at Gabriel at the mention of her asking papa to buy it for her, shaking her head knowing that even if he wanted to chances were still low since her birthday wasn't anytime soon and midwinter had already passed so little presents just because she wasn't expecting. "It's okay Gabriel I don't want to bother papa about it." Her hand to her mouth as she lightly bites on her thumbnail she thought about how much money she would need to save between tips.


Turning to Miss Phee, her eyes widen at the thought of being able to get the box and all she had to do was a little modeling for a doll. "Really." She let out a small mew of excitement over the idea. "Oh thank you Miss Phee. I will definitely come back." Her eyes shining with happiness as she giggled a little until she heard a voice in her head, cause in her excitement she let down her mental guard. Looking around trying to pinpoint the location of the voice when she notices a little black kitty with orange around the paws and white belly outside the shop window.


"Um excuse me one moment." She said as she rushed outside scooping up the little cat that was avoiding the feet of all the people. Walking back inside she rubbed the kitten's nose as it thanked her for saving it's life. "Sorry I had to save this little guy." The kitten started to meow, "Sorry little girl she did ask for help." She said smiling as the kitten nuzzled itself into her arm as Amiee kept tickling it's little nose.

Hearing Amiee tell him she didn’t want to bother her father for the toy pained him as Gabriel enjoyed the company of kids, though he wanted to help her he couldn’t since he was poor, at the same time he heard the woman over the counter say her name was Malpheena. While wondering if there was anything Gabriel could had done for Amiee, Phee said mentioned how the box would be hers if she modeled a bit for a doll, though he wanted to say something against it since Gabriel didn’t have a better idea he kept his mouth closed.



Watching Amiee suddenly walk out of the store to pick up a cat. Gabriel wondered how the girl noticed the situation the cat was in while she was focused on other things, Gabriel looked at the cat for a bit before looking at the counter and realizing that he needed to look for a weapon store was hoping Amiee was finishing up in the store soon. “ Amiee? We should probably get going soon we wouldn’t want to be a bother to Phee, your father is probably expecting us soon as well and I need to go to find a weapon store.” Gabriel said trying not to be rude.

Phee was happy seeing how happy Amiee was at getting the box for free for a simple sit in a chair or stand for her to model for a doll. She ducked outside suddenly during her excitement and came back in with a kitten in her hands and was talking like she could understand the kitten. Phee found it interesting that Amiee seemed to wholeheartedly believe she could and really who says she can't. This world of theirs was filled with magic and various races, she could easily have that ability.

When Gabriel brought up finding a weapon's shop she stepped in to let him know where the closest one was, "A weapons shop? There is one two blocks down and then you take a right and go another block." Phee was happy to help how she could, "Would you like me to wrap that up for you?" She asked meaning the music box that she was giving to Amiee.

Amiee kept petting the little kitten as she listens to the kitten thanking her for saving its life and how she would be in her debt. She kept returning the kitten that it was okay that she didn't need to owe her a debt as long as she promises to remind safe. Looking up when Gabriel mention that her papa would be expecting them back soon. "I guess papa is expecting us soon." Feeling the kitten wiggling out of her arms she set the cat down while informing it not to cause any trouble for Miss Phee. Watching the cat walked around taking a liking to the store.



"Miss Phee I think..." Tilting her head she looked the cat having never gotten it. "Little Sunset wants to stay here with you if that is okay. She promised not to meow in the morning and she said that she could fend for herself as well so you don't have to worry about feeding her." She said as she reached down scooping up kitten her her arms once again after calling the cat back to her.

“Thanks Phee, that saves me the trouble of looking for one after I take Amiee back to her father” Gabriel said happily as he looked at Phee before turning his gaze back to Amiee watching her pet the kitten before handing it to Phee. “ Yes Amiee it is getting late soon.” Gabriel mentioned as he saw Amiee communicate with the kitten.

Gabriel walked over to the counter where he left the things they had gotten throughout the day and picked them up and standing on a side of the room to make sure he didn’t bump anything he waited for Amiee to finish talking to Malpheena so they could head out and hopefully gabriel would be able to find some time to go to the weapons store. “ Thank you for everything you had shown us Phee im sure that me and Amiee would be coming over again in due time.”
