Breton was beginning to become tired of carriage ride that had him trapped in waiting for 4 long days.. In fact, he wanted nothing more than to leave this dreaded box on wheels drawn by two horses. Even the guards that walked alongside the carriage were beginning to grow anxious, their feet heavy and faces worn with exhaustion as they drove on to through the Forever Forest. The destination easy enough, The Arch of Ages to speak with the Headmaster of the large ‘magical based’ academy.
A place that Noku rarely ventured, so alas, Once again Breton was sent in the king’s place to see what the Kingdom’s funding was paying for… After all, It’s always good to keep tabs of fond memories and strong ‘partnerships’.. So with boredom, the regent lounged casually within the carriage while it traveled to the Arch of Ages. “ Your grace, The Arch is just up ahead.” A guard approached the carriage; his pace struggling to keep up with the speed of the carriage as he called into the cab to inform Breton of their coming arrival.
Finally! A faint smile crept up breton’s sandy gray features. His emerald green eyes flashing with excitement as he demanded the carriage to pick up speed, forcing his guards to pick up their already jogging pace to a run. At last the giant tree was in sight! The village built by Adrain coming into view as the driver slowed down the carriage the moment the horses hooves hit the cobblestone streets of the village.
At last he could discuss any other juicy details of magic the young and old academy students were cooking up, along with finding out what Adrain had planned for the upcoming Harvest months to come. His gaze wandering to the buildings that passed by steady within the cab of his royal ‘cage’.
‘ My my, Headmaster Adrain Kaiaru, you have been a busy man. I wonder what you will surprise me with, young mage. Even if this is a little sudden...I hope you don't disappoint me. ’ Breton thought to himself, his gaze moving up to the tree as the carriage finally approached the base of the entrance of the academy. His smile fading as he stared up at the giant tree that now blocked out the sun as they traveled closer to the Arch. “ Might as well get this over with. “ Breton sighed to himself, jerking a bit at the carriage suddenly stopped at the Academy’s entrance. The guard’s now obviously exhausted. Sweat dripped down from their faces and dry heaves could be heard coming from them as they struggled to maintain a proper military stance when the carriage stopped.Breton waited for the door to open before stepping out and onto the street below.
“ You guard, Be a good lad and go on ahead to announce my arrival. If you would, have the headmaster come down to greet me; Tell the young lad that the King’s Regent has come to inspect the Academy..” Breton spoke with a grin, obviously being facetious as he commanded a guard to go and fetch someone from the Arch.

Melda Delsaran Vanya Melda had been roaming the halls of the Arch, hoping to better learn their pattern. The building was built beautifully, but it was more than confusing for a new comer (not that she was one, but it had been ages since she’d last roamed these halls). She had decided on a teaching job in her spare time. As a Duchess she had many responsibilities, but she’d grown a bit bored of just those duties. The headmaster had shown her the benefits of passing on knowledge to the young, and she wanted to give it a try. She’d yet to pick an exact subject which she’d be teaching, but it was mostly likely between Wind and Water magic. She was quite good with both.
Melda had dressed in a beautiful ruby red dress with golden accents. The sleeves reached her wrists, and the neckline was a slightly curved square type. Her hair was up the way it usually was, braided into a complex up-do, few strands falling here and there.
She knew where she was now, closer to the Headmasters study, but still a few doors down and around the corner. A young man rushed passed her, bumping into her slightly, turning to apologize quickly before continuing on. A sour look crossed on her face and she walked forward to scold the ignorant child, but stopped when she heard him speak to the guard outside Adrain’s study. The King’s Regent is here to see the Headmaster! Please, send him down immediately!!! The boy pleaded, nerves clear on his face.
Melda turned on her heels, heading to the stair case and back down to the entrance. Normally she avoided such a situation, interacting with the infamous Breton, but today curiosity beseeched her. Why on earth would Breton be here?
Upon reaching the entrance, Melda stopped to regain her regular icy composure she kept when in court, and opened the large doors. No word of a lie, Breton stood outside his carriage, his guards looking absolutely defeated. My, this is a surprise. Melda spoke, her tone nearly void of any emotion as she stepped down from the entrance and onto the street. Her eyes - shockingly blue today - were directed onto his, cool and careful. I must say, it is unlike you to venture all the way out here. She pondered. She had to be careful with her own reasons for being here. The court was still unawares of her magic, save for Aria, Diamond and Adrain. She’d been waiting for the right moment to speak with the King, but Breton could twist it should he find out first.

Adrain was standing atop the Headmaster's Terrace in the few hours prior, having gotten a message that a large procession was coming from the Kingdom. A large guard contingent with a carriage carrying somebody of obvious importance from the direction of Nova. His curiosity was obviously roused and upon searching the area with scrying, he came to observe briefly the procession. The pace was agonizingly slow, but it's to be expected when such a large contingent was sent out with it. He suspected it wasn't the King himself, but someone of similar rank. Melda was already visiting once again, her interest in the Arch having grown so it wouldn't be her, plus her normal like for privacy wouldn't cause her to demand such a large group. Yuki or Lucinda wouldn't come in such a way either, and no other noble or noblewoman came to mind. If it was King Silas, he assumed Lucinda would have mentioned it.
He had a suspicion then, perhaps it was the Regent. Not entirely surprising since the day that he was summoned to the throne room along with Garza and Diamond, the King asked about how his gold was being used and naturally with the mana farm initiative having some interest as well as new funding he would send someone to have a look. Once he had an idea of the target, he called forth other high ranking members of the staff as well as others of import such as the housekeepers and the chefs whom worked. Once they were all assembled, he spoke.
"We have a guest of high import to the Novian Kingdom from which we draw substantial support from for this institution. Prepare the esteemed guest quarters along with enough spare rooms for a contingent of guards to rest. Highest cleanliness and quality is demanded for our guest, and prepare the finest meal for the arrival, I estimate in a few hours based on the path and speed they seemed to be going at."
Melda, whom happened to be here during this period would observe a small flurry of activity as preparations were made. Once the procession was close enough to send a boy after the Archmage, he was in his office already in full Headmaster's formal attire expecting it. He smirked slightly that his suspicion had came to fruition, and as such he made his way down the normal way, not making use of portals as he typical would at this point.
Once he arrived at the ground level entrance, he approached, nodding once acknowledging Melda's presence and bowing once Breton was in eyesight. "Welcome Lord Fair'los. It is an honor to have you here. A quarters has been prepared for you and your guards to rest along with a meal should you wish to eat after your long trip. Might I ask what the occasion is for your esteemed visit?" he states, keeping a perfect tone of respect and politeness. This man was something of an enigma to him, little really known in the gossip courts that he overheard from time to time and he certainly had no time to do proper research beforehand.

Breton’s head turned sharply when a very familiar voice suddenly spoke out to him. His eyes met with Melda’s, a frown formed on his features. Her infamous serious gaze locked upon him as she approached. “ A surprise indeed.” Breton smirked. “ Yes, I would have to agree with you there. Normally I prefer not to leave the King’s side, but alas, I have business here. “ He nodded while his arms crossed. He was actually surprised himself. He hadn’t expected to the see the Duchess Melda all the way out here at the Magic Academy. In fact, her presence here puzzled him for he hadn’t known she had any magical capabilities. Perhaps he had underestimated the Moon elf that he had worked around for so long.
“ Where is the Headmaster? “ He asked, his voice demanding as he casually looked around for a moment. His eyes searching the area to see any sign of another greeter besides Melda before meeting her gaze again. His expression rather serious; though for only a short period of time. His emerald eyes catching the glimpse of the doors opening at the Arch’s entrance once again. Breton quirked a brow at the sight of Adrain upon arrival. The man carried himself well, however, he had a very unsettling feeling about the fellow he couldn’t quite place.
Adrain’s bow acknowledged by one of his own, a simple and yet elegant head nod. “ Greeting Headmaster Kaiaru. Ah punctual as ever; Though I already have a room here in mind that I would like to stay in. I need not be shown the way for I already have a key; So I will let myself in when I am ready to retire, but I would like a tour of your Academy. I’ve heard great things at the castle, so I would love to see what you have been working on here with...Your students. “ Breton gave Adrain a small smile, one with pressed lips as though forced. He turned to his guards that were slumped in defeat, tired and exhausted from the journey they had to basically run the entire way.
“ You hear that, You are dismissed…” Breton announced, almost rejuvenating the men’s spirits at the idea of food and a warm bed to sleep on. The men quickly hurrying to take the carriage away while two servants stayed behind Breton with two small chests, one in each of the servant's hands. “ So, where to first Headmaster and Duchess Melda? ”

Melda Delsaran Vanya Melda continued to look at Breton, not focusing her attention anywhere else. Because of this, she was aware of the frown, causing curiosity to spark in her. Why was he here? What business could he have here, that Adrain couldn’t have just gone out to the castle? When he asked where the headmaster was, Melda blinked and lifted her chin up a bit higher. Well, he is no doubt on his way here- a very frantic messenger passed me on his way up. I have no doubts he’ll only be but a moment more. Melda replied, keeping her stoic expression. When he met her gaze again, she offered a bitter ice filled smile.
Melda glanced behind her as the doors opened again, Adrain nodding in her direction as he made his entrance. So the preparations from before- they had been for Breton. This wasn’t some spontaneous pop in… Strange. Melda turned her head back to Breton, watching his every expression while he and Adrain spoke.
She kept her own face clear of emotion, though curiously was whirling in her- why did he want a tour? If he knew exactly where his room was, then he’s been here before- a tour made no sense. Melda remained silent as he asked for direction, turning her eyes now to Adrain- he would be the one to lead them. Melda had no inkling as to why he could be there, because of that, she did not want to be the one leading him. Instead, she would observe him, try to figure out his motive- as even he admitted leaving the Kings side was rare for him. So what could have possibly caused it today?
When the group would head inside, Melda would follow, one step behind them.

A brow was raised as the Regent mentioned he had his own room and key here. He felt like he would have heard of the regent having been a student here before, but there are a number of potential explanations. "Oh? I had no idea that you were a student or faculty member here in the past." he states, curious regarding the fact that there was a room that he had a key for. Rooms were inspected periodically to make certain mana didn't turn to crystalized Caster's Sorrow which caused a host of problems. Regardless, he couldn't go about searching for a room that has been locked for whoever knows how long which could potentially violate privacy or worse. It nagged at him though, Breton's behavior was a little...off, and not in the normal weird around magic off.
As the subject of a tour came up, he nodded.
"Right then, well the Arch is in the tail end of the Winter Break and resuming classes shortly along with the spring entrance exams. As I'm sure you know, the students here are taught how to ethically harness their gift to the benefit of all and their kingdoms, to be assets and not hindrances. There are numerous schools, if any are of particular interest to you I can show you the facility and perhaps the staff if they are present."
Adrain then looks to the distance a ways, gesturing down where a recently laid down stone road was leading out. "Of course, the most ambitious project is the mana farm which uses a complex array of arcane glyphs and spells to greatly speed up the process and harvest even able to persist regardless of season. Every measure is being taken to make certain all products are safe before we move beyond the testing phase and into a broader availability. Most of concern is making certain the mana levels in products are equal to or lower than natural harvests which most samples have kept within but I cannot have any less than perfect for something that is to be eaten" he states, then looking at the Regent respectfully.
"So are there any specific facilities you would like to see or should we just proceed to the closest, the Artificer level?"

Breton stared at the Headmaster and Melda for a moment without any expression or word. His servants behind him trembled where they stood, along with their hands that held tightly onto the chest in their grasp. Their knees trembling from the chill of the air. However, they dared not move or waver while they stood within the regents presence. Their sunken in eyes, while focused on the ground, seem ‘dead’. Their hope and humanity stripped from them, removing any doubts of their role as Breton’s servants. This was clear by how they dared not look up to make any eye contact while standing behind the Regent.
Breton attention turned to the Headmaster, Adrain Kaiaru. A serious expression on his face at the remark made of ‘him’ being a student or a faculty member of this establishment. “ No, I have never been a student or worked at this Academy. I only have a key because it belonged to a former student; That is currently missing, So I simply wish to stay in the same room to gather information on possible leads or whereabouts. “ He sighed, breaking his gaze upon Adrain and lifting it up to stare up at the giant tree that made up the academy. He was talking about Mysteria, he hadn't seen her since the disconnection of strains. She had become aloof and this bothered him greatly. His attention else where for the time being, until Adrain spoke again.
“ I see… “ Breton paused, looking over his shoulder to his servants before glancing back over to Adrain. “ Yes. I am interested in seeing what the Kingdom’s treasury is paying out for. I had expected to see a larger show of what the staff and students have been working on. However, seeing I have arrived at an awkward time; Then a tour of what you have open and currently going on would do for now. ” His gaze following Adrain’s as he too turned his head to look in the same direction. His green eyes following the path that looked recently laid. His brow lifted with a bit of impressment at the mention of the manna farm project. Perhaps this new headmaster Kaiaru had a lot to offer; His ideas were much better than that old buffoon that was headmaster here a long time ago. Though Breton kept those thoughts to himself; catching a glimpse of adrain looking over at him from the corner of his eye. He too then turned to look at adrain and Melda.
“ Yes, mana is a fickle thing that needs to be handled with precaution. Perhaps when you have perfected this project, you would let me know. I am sure the king would be delighted to hear of a project that could provide for his kingdom and it’s people. “ He states, lifting his hand and snapping his index finger and thumb together. The loud snap; brought the servants to attention. Their gaze finally lifting to look ahead, still doing their best not to make full direct eye contact while looking straight forward.
“ I’m the one asking for a tour Headmaster Kaiaru, I only know a little of what facilities you offer, so… You show me what you have going on. Myself and my servants will follow until your tour is over.” Breton smiled, doing his best to be civil while rather impatient to get out of the cold.

"I see, I can only assume by the fact you are personally involved there may be an investigation of some sort into this individual. If they have committed some crime and if I can assist in any way, then my services are at your disposal." Adrain states in response to the comment about the student. His gaze caught the servants trembling and looking obviously uncomfortable for the time but there wasn't much he could do to help him in this immediate time since they were just told to follow and to try to intervene so quickly after against the wishes of the Regent would reflect poorly.
After wishing for the tour and making comments about Mana and the project, he only nodded. "Of course Regent. I hope to have the first phase of testing done within four months to allow sufficient time to get a large quantity for testing and improvement." he states. As the Regent made it obvious Adrain was to lead, he nodded.
"Very well then, I simply wanted to allow the guest of honor a choice of direction if he had anything in mind specifically." he states, then returning to the door, holding his hand aloft as they opened slowly. The impatience on the Regent with regards to the cold was admittedly a slight misplay on Adrain's part: he had gotten so used to the cold and the snow that it didn't strike him instantly to get the Regent out of the cold. Melda seemed quiet and had nothing to add but he would assume she would follow.
The Headmaster would lead the party through the major entryway. The infamous elevator shaft was off to the side but unavailable as there was maintenance going on as a mage was calibrating and checking the track and the pods to make certain no disruptions had gone on. The opening area would be large, with varying bits of comfortable furniture and tables strewn about while a few shops and eateries were available as a common area for students who would normally be here. Most of these facilities were closed or simply being updated for the new semester.
"This is the common area for students to congregate between their classes and relax, it is a bit simple since it has to be durable for the reality of public use and young individuals not treating the area as well as they might in other cirucmstances. From here people can take the pods to the higher levels at the fastest or go to the upper levels via portals or stairs depending on tolerance or wish." he explains as he then leads the group down a hallway and a flight of stairs carved carefully into the ancient tree down one level to a larger area. Several hallways would sprawl out
"This is the open part of the Artificer wing. Here students interested in the crafting arts whether it be making scrolls for use of spells quickly, animate objects, or enchanted armor and arms among other things. In this area, items are checked in and out by the staff at the stations to make certain nothing is used irresponsibly or taken without authorization. From here the course workshops are accessible from the Scribe's Quarters to the Spellforge to the Golemancy Ward among other places. The facilities are top of the line for their respective purposes as craftsmen and mages who take learn the relevant skills go back into the world to benefit their communities and kingdoms." he states, waiting to see if there were questions or inquiries before moving on.

Melda was a bystander at this point. Breton was always someone she knew she would be better off avoiding, and had done so well over the years. Despite herself being apart of the court longer than he'd been alive, she respected his position. Although she heard them speaking Melda was really interested in idle chatter so she stayed silent. She did have to admit this tour was useful for her as well, as she was not used to the Arch yes herself.
When there was a lull-adrain was waiting for questions- Melda spoke up. So, Breton. How has the position of Regent been treating you? We don't often have the chance to speak, oddly enough. The king is treating you well I hope? Melda hated small talk, but in this case it was all she had.

Breton remained placid as he accompanied Adrain on the tour of the Arch. Here and there, he personally handled an artifact, object, or textbook, inspecting each with a solemn gaze, both pensive and stoic, but offered neither praise nor reprisal during the headmaster's explanation of the facility and its various functions. As they plodded along, his gaze continually wandered, taking in everything except the other persons in this venture. At length, Melda addressed him while he was preoccupied in a particularly intense scrutiny of a small instrument designed for extracting resin from wood and roots; at her voice, Breton came to attention, and leveled his gaze with hers, waiting several seconds after she had finished to deliver an answer.
"Mel-daaa, you and I haven't seen each other in so long, and you want to talk about work --while-- I'm on a business trip?" Breton cooed, his tone uncannily chipper, his expression unchanged. "I'll leave all that to our hosts here; after all, we needn't tire ourselves out with useless formalities and rhetorical questions that don't get us anywhere. Tell me, rather, something about this place that's caught your eye since you've been here. I appreciate a third party perspective to keep things level, you see, and you might have the knack for it." Breton replaced the instrument he had been holding and resumed walking along with their small procession. Once it was clear Adrain had finished, Breton broke his passive solemnity and became somewhat more animated. "Well, headmaster, all that is very well and proper for a first day's report; I must say, I am encouraged at the scant glimpse I've had of your work here so far. I trust that a slightly more --thorough-- examination of the projects you've mentioned will reveal similar realizations. For now, I believe I will attend to the quarters I spoke of earlier, and prepare my notes and my reports for the rest of the tour."

During the tour, Adrain had noted that Breton's behavior was odd at best. He didn't really like the fact that he was poking at the root of the tree, but he kept his distaste hidden and faced away from the regent since there wasn't much harm done at the time. For the most part, the Regent didn't seem to pay too much attention to what Adrain had to say about the various wings of the facility, and he wondered if he would rather have just gone off on his own accord or something.
When the Regent became more animated suddenly, his expression changing and himself making every move to leave at first opportunity, he rose a brow.
"If you wish Regent. I can have housekeeping accompany you if you insist on using this room and you'd be able to utilize them if you see fit, but if you want your own servants to handle that, that is quite well enough." Adrain states as he then likely would see the Regent scurry off to the residential part. He rose a brow, not sure how to take this. The regent clearly had an agenda associated with this room. If he were to interfere or deny him access at best it would look bad with the court, at worse it would draw some form of wrath of the king upon the Arch and impact the students. Still though, the Regent struck him as a man with his own agenda, but what that could be he could only speculate.
"When you wish a meal, please let a staff member know and they will take you to the dining hall where a suitable meal will be made to your choosing." he says formally, bowing slightly to the Regent.
Assuming that Breton would scurry off without much more conversation, Adrain would make his way back to the point that Breton had picked at and bored into the tree, looking at it carefully and pulling an Earth crystal out of his pocket. If nothing anomalous was found, he would have the crystal be a catalyst for regenerating the tree, but anything anomalous would catch more scrutiny from his end.
