Nova Sweet Nova [Sakai/Gabriel/Open]

[Yuki D'Avranches]

When she had gotten back from the temple the day before she had informed Hawkeye that she would be going out tomorrow at dawn and would like for him to be with her since she would be going in town. She didn't tell him the reasoning for the sudden trip just a few days before they depart for her family estate thinking that it would be a nice surprise for him plus if anything it would be nice to give him an official tour of the city even if he did know the city quite well.

Today she was dressed in a long ankle length dark red and black dress that was short sleeve, with the hemming done in a white threading in the designing of vines. Over the top was her matching cloak with rabbit fur trimming along the hood, with a simple black ribbon tied to the end of her hair to keep it together. Hidden under her gloves was the mana amplifier it had become a habit for her to wear it everywhere she went. Finally on her feet were black fur lined boots with her long white stockings, of course, her small coin purse was hidden under the cloak to keep people from trying to rob her.

Looking up at the sky she could see the sun just breaking the night the sky now coloured in hues of light purple, pinks and some hints of blues to signal the new dawn of another day. While she waited she thought about how to start the tour of the city for Gabriel, deciding that it would be best to start with the first district since it was where they are at the moment then made they way to the second district showing him the different shops, guilds and town square, maybe stop at traven or somewhere to get something to eat then continue on to the tour towards the third district if enough time was there and if Hawkeye deemed it safe for them venture that far from the castle.

With an outline for the tour set out in her mind, position herself so that she could see the road leading from the castle and the road leading to it, not wanting to miss when Hawkeye or Gabriel arrive and then they could start they hopefully uneventful day.

Gabriel woke up after a restful sleep in the Gallow’s inn, after returning from the Moon Temple and getting closure to his past. Gabriel stood up and walked next to the window, seeing that it was getting brighter he grabbed his staff and sack as he headed out the door to go and meet Yuki.



Before leaving the inn he went and asked the keeper where the castle was located and which way would he have to go to reach there, After getting some directions Gabriel walked out of the inn and started to walk hopefully towards the castle.



After a few wrong turns and asking directions few of the people who woke up as early as he did he finally was able to see the outline of the castle as the sun continued to rise. Walking on it he saw a girl whom he remembered from yesterday, running towards her while waving he finally stood near her “ Hey Yuki thanks for doing this again” Gabriel said with a smile. Looking at her attire he gave out a small laugh before saying “ You look completely different from the other day, so what are we waiting for?”

Hawkeye was early to rise in the morning in accordance with Lady Yuki's request, sitting up in a kneeling position as the sun was just about to peek up over the horizon. He was thankful for the more steady work now that Yuki had employed him, and it meant a more steady sleep schedule for him. He spent an hour or so meditating, his over sized sword never leaving his side the whole time. He could feel it's influence, it's pull, but he ignored it and finished the meditation in peace. Once that was done, he quickly ate breakfast, then donned his armor, which took some time due to having no attendants to put it on. He grumbled a little when the ties kept coming apart, and was almost ready to give up when one of the barmaids walked by his room, and offered to help. He gratefully accepted, leaving her some extra coin after instructing her on how to tie some of the lacing.



With everything in tow, Hawkeye made his way to the temple where Yuki said she would be. He was a little concerned that she had decided to go traveling alone with no protection. He knew she was sometimes a target for certain unsavory people...not that he didn't mind the extra "exercise". His concern resurfaced when he saw her chatting with a man he was not familiar with, though he seemed friendly. He kept his hand on his sword just in case, ready to draw and cut the man down in a moment's notice if he needed to.



"Apologies, Lady Yuki. Getting the armor on is a bitch. So, who's your friend? Anyone I should be concerned about?"

Yuki saw Gabriel as he came running up towards the gates greeting him with a smile as she did a quick look over of his clothes silently approving of it. "Good Morning Gabriel. You are most welcome." A light blush appeared on her cheek as she mentioned that she looked different from the day before. "Well thank you. We are just waiting for my guard." No sooner than she had said it she noticed Hawkeye coming to meet them.


"It is okay Hawkeye, Gabriel only just arrived just a little before you. No need for concern Gabriel here is a priest in training. I met him yesterday on my trip to the temple and agreed to give him a tour of Nova. Well, we know what sometimes happen when I go out into the city." Reminding herself and Hawkeye of how they had met in the first place. Thinking back on it, she still gets nightmares of that day but decided to put it out of her memory since it was a new day.


"I was thinking that we head down to the Second District since there isn't much to see here in the First minus the temple, the castle and the Arena." She stated unless either of them wanting to tour of the castle mostly the gardens but it wasn't much to see during this time of year.


Giving a wave to the guards as she started to lead they small little group down the road towards the Guild District since it was the first on they stop.


It didn't take too long for them to reach the Guilds, once there she stopped in front of the library. "Our first stop more or less it the library. It holds some of Nova's greatest works and more." Pointing to a few different buildings around them. "That is the guild that specializes in crafting weapons, the one right next to is armor and that one on the other side is the one for weavers. If you ever want to change your trade you come to this area. You could also use the guilds to find out who is the best in they trade, specialize something in particular that you might be looking for without having to wander the Merchant going from shop to shop trying to find what you want. Plus you could always rent out the guild hall for parties if you wish." She explained.


Looking at the people already rushing around early in the morning it was mostly the young children between seven and thirteen who were moving rushing around. Some of them with papers sticking out of a small bag others it was more obvious of what they were carrying from the jiggle of gold. The older people were still rushing around but most were heading towards the merchant district to either do some shopping or open up their shop asking seeing if anyone had made a request for them at the guild. "Also if you wish you could make a request at the guild to have something made."


Yuki paused for a moment as she looked around feeling eyes on her. Shaking off the feeling she pointed to the last building that seems to be tucked away in the corner. Above the sage green down as a sign in the same shade with a picture of a black crow carrying a single white rose, under the sign written in a beautiful script was the name 'The Correspondence Guild.'"That building there is a Correspondence Guild. They specialize in sending messages across not only Nova but anywhere that is reachable." Turning to look at companions her she smiled at them as she waited to see if they had questions since it was just the beginning of the tour and she didn't want to leave anyone confused. Plus she also didn't mind if they wanted to check out any guild since they had enough time before the sun would be at its highest point in the sky.

Gabriel looked at the new guy who just showed up, first noticing the unnecessarily large sword on his side. “This guy is the guard we’re waiting for Yuki?” Gabriel said smiling as he pointed his finger at hawkeye. “Nice to meet you … Hawkeye was it?” Gabriel said as he turned to look at the guard, seeing that the guard was slightly shorter than him but realizing that the weapon he carried on the side probably was bigger than the wielder himself. Never seeing such a sword he looked at it for a second before saying “ Interesting sword you got there. I never seen anything like it”



“ Just lead the way Yuki i’m new anyways” gabriel said as they started walking. Gabriel continued to listen as Yuki kept on listing different places, making a mental note for himself that he would probably spend most of his time in this district if he wasn’t hunting. “ the library seems like a nice place for me to go to later on when i’m free, i’ll probably be around here a lot by the looks of it.” Gabriel continued to follow Yuki his staff in hand. Noticing that Yuki stopped for a moment he wondered if anything was on her mind before it seemed like she snapped out of it and continued moving.



Gabriel looked at Hawkeye before saying “ I know you’re a guard but you don’t have to stand that far back from us you know, come here talk with us a bit I won’t bite you know “.

Hawkeye grinned cynically at Gabriel, and it was not a pleasant smile; he was an expert in the "unpleasant smile", and this expression was pointed at Gabriel. He had been given no reason to trust this so called priest, less so when Yuki said she had met him yesterday. When the man pointed at his sword and commented on it, he gave a wry chuckle.

"Hawkeye is what I go by. Must people just screw up Nagamasa somehow. And I doubt you've ever seen anything like my sword, pretty boy. I recommend you not show TOO much interest in it, for your own safety."

As if to accentuate that point, the blade let off a menacing, palpable pulse of murderous intent to anyone sensitive enough to feel such things. At this point Hawkeye spent half his time watching Yuki and Gabriel carefully, barely paying attention to anything his charge said. He had seen some of the sights of Nova before joining Yuki as a guard, having been a mercenary of sorts that had seen much of what the districts had to offer. He was careful of pickpockets even here in the Second District, though he doubted very much that he would need to worry about it. He heard Gabriel ask him to come closer, and he shrugged his shoulders casually. and started to match his pace with ther other two.

"If you insist. Makes it easier to gut open any kidnappers anyway. I'd step back if that happens; wouldn't want to get blood on your fancy priest robes!"

Yuki nodded her head when Gabriel asked if Hawkeye was the guard she was waiting for. "He is Gabriel. He is also my personal guard he accompanies me everywhere unless it's his day off." She explained since she didn't want to go into too much detail of why Hawkeye wasn't with her the day before. She did notice the slight hostile from Hawkeye about the sword she had never asked about it and she didn't want to know about it either. Other than the menacing aura of murderous intention coming from the sword made her not want to even know anything more about it.



"If you like we could stop by the library now it is open. It's the reason I ask for us to meet up early in the morning. I figured that you might want to stop at a few places plus the merchants are just opening they shops and the baker haven't taken out the first loaves of bread and cakes for the day." She said in a matter of fact voice plus she also had some business as well she needed to stop by a few customers to get they orders for the next shipment of tea that was coming in later that week.



Yuki had kinda wished that Hawkeye didn't mention the kidnappers but it was out in the open she couldn't hide it anymore at least around Gabriel. Plus she did like it now that Hawkeye was walking closer to them not that she didn't trust Garbriel to protect her but she didn't know what he could do. It's just Hawkeye had proved that he could protect her from harm and hopefully it didn't come to that on they peaceful trip though the city.

Being stuck in a facility forced to be trained in all sorts of weaponry, Hawkeye’s sword was one of the few weapons that piped his interest. “A blade that has its own murderous intent. Makes you wonder what the owner of it had to go through to not go crazy doesn’t it” Gabriel laughed as he felt the murderous intent pass through his body, reminding him of the years he was stuck in the facility which uncannily made him feel right at home. “A blade being able to do that much on its own the merit of that usually goes to the bladesmith or the wielder.” Gabriel stood still facing Hawkeye saying with a smile “ So either you’re just a petty thief or a half-decent fighter” Gabriel turned around and started walking next to Yuki.



“Sounds like a good idea Yuki, hopefully I’ll be able to find some books on Ai for now. Afterwards if no one ate anything for breakfast we could grab some food in a bit as well” Gabriel started walking towards the library as he heard the word kidnapping before stopping in his tracks and turning around looking at Yuki wondering why people would kidnap her.



“Well don’t worry about any kidnappings Yuki, I’m sure Hawkeye being here scared off anyone who thought of kidnapping you. “Gabriel said as pat Yuki on her head as he turned back around and started walking towards the library.

Hawkeye's expression changed rapidly when Gabriel spoke his last sentence toward him; his single eye went wide with rage, not even hiding his displeasure as his mouth curled into a snarling scowl. Gabriel would get only a few steps before Hawkeye drew naked steel, the blade surging with an aura of darkness briefly as he drew it with a metallic chime, as if approving of his actions and urging him to kill the fool that dared to disrespect a proud samurai. Hawkeye was certainly tempted; in his homeland, an insult like that would generally result in a duel to defend his honor...and he was not about to let the subtle insult slide.

"You're a cheeky, ignorant bastard, aren't you? If you like my sword so much, maybe you'd like to see it as I slide it into your belly?!"

People in the nearby streets looked on in surprise and panic as they heard the ring of steel, a woman shouting as she stepped back. Other's started to make some distance between the one eyed man holding the large sword, and he pointed it unwavering at Gabriel with a two handed grip, taking a stance as he bent his knees, sword then raised vertically in a combat stance, hands drawn close to his shoulder as his elbows extended outward, the steel of the large sword glinting in the sun. His gaze was directed at Yuki briefly.

"I apologize, Lady Yuki, but this man has insulted my honor as a samurai, as a warrior. He will answer for it!"

He turned his singular, one eyed gaze back to Gabe, a scowl on his face. His hands gripped the handle of his sword tighter as the crowd got louder, though a ring seemed to form around them, wanting to watch what would happen.

"Either draw your weapon if you have one, or choose your champion! Then we'll see how quickly you die!"

Yuki wanted to pull Gabriel back and make him apologize to Hawkeye, unfortunately, she didn't get the chance since Hawkeye decided to pull his sword and start waving it around threatening to cut Gabriel in half. There goes she relaxing trip into the city because of two men who's egos were large and now were causing a panic to the people around them she was sure that some of them were running to call the guards.



Moving to stand between the two of them not wanting to deal with having to explain to guards why her guard and a priest were fighting in the first place. Second the crowd of people was not helping since it seem like some them were whispering things about it being a fight over her hand which was the ridiculous thing she ever heard. "Now stop it you two. This was to be a relaxing trip into the city. I show Gabriel around town, we all have lunch then head down to the docks so I can do a little business than we do a little shopping maybe and then have dinner." Turning to look at Hawkeye taking a deep breath before she spoke again. "Yes I understand that he has insulted your honour as a samurai and a warrior but fighting him here in the city would not be right either. You will just bring trouble for yourself, and sadly if you kill a priest you will end up in the dungeons and not even I can pull enough strings to get you out."



Next to face Gabriel turning her back on Hawkeye. "Now you shouldn't call someone a petty thief or a half decent fighter. Even if you can fight the same thing applies to you, just because you are a priest doesn't mean anything cause if you kill or even harm him. It means that you wanted to cause harm to me even if that was not the intent and you will end up toss into the dungeon and as I told him I can not pull enough strings to get you out."



Taking a step back so that she could look at both men at once. "Now if you wish to fight even after all of this. It will be after we finish seeing the city getting lunch and I see to some business done. After that, we will head to the Silver Arrow Arena and you two can battle it out, but not to the death is that clear you will fight till one of you yields or I deem a winner is that clear." Yuki placed her hands on her hips as she tapped her foot waiting for the men to answer hoping that they would agree to wait till later to settle the fight.

Gabriel turned around as he heard the woman scream, and the sound of metal that rang as Hawkeye drew his weapon out. Gabriel smiled and held onto his staff as he pointed the hooked end towards Hawkeye “ You can try your best if you want Hawkeye, you’ll find out I’m not as easy to kill as an average priest” Gabriel started walking towards Hawkeye until he saw Yuki walk in between him and Hawkeye, realizing that Yuki was still suppose to show him around Nova he lowered his staff abit.



Gabriel realized that with what he had on him now, he probably would not be able to win against Hawkeye since the staff he had was nothing special and he did not have an actual reason to fight against Hawkeye, and if he did Gabriel probably would had to have used his trump card even if it was a dangerous thing to do. Fighting against a sword like that with a normal staff wouldnt have been favorable for Gabriel anyways. And he’d prefer if he didnt have to go and buy a new staff afterwards if he did fight Hawkeye, with that in mind he decided he would try to convice hawkeye to stop fighting as he started walking closer to Yuki.



“Sorry about that Yuki I didn’t mean to cause a scene” Gabriel moved in front of Yuki and finally lowered his staff to where it’s parallel to his body “ Sorry about that Hawkeye, I didn’t mean any disrespect with that comment. If you want to still fight we can fight in an arena or whatever they have around here so civilians won’t get involved.” Gabriel said as he looked at Hawkeye hoping that he would back down “ And anyways I have no reason to try to cause harm to Yuki in any way, and if we did fight i'm sure someone would kidnap her in the chaos. This honor of yours, would it not be a bigger insult to it if you allowed someone to kidnap Yuki while you were in the area because you couldn't keep your temper in check?” Hoping that be enough to convince hawkeye to lower his weapon Gabriel turned back to Yuki and apologized yet again.

The red clad warrior was able to contain his rage and hold himself back from simply leaping forward and impaling the cheeky priest. He was glad he did when Yuki suddenly stepped in his way. His blade did not move, but neither did the rest of his body. His single eye stared forward, full of steel and rage as he directed it to Gabriel behind the woman. After some time of listening to Yuki, however, he grumbled in slight protest, but complied and sheathed his weapon, much to the relief of many onlookers. He bowed deeply in apology to Yuki, the look on his face solemn.

"...My apologies, Lady Yuki. My emotions got the better of my judgement. I'll try and be more prudent."

When Gabriel spoke, however, his Hawkeye's singular gaze turned to him, and it was not filled with kindness or understanding. It was filled with venom and hatred. This stranger seemed close to Yuki, but all HE saw was a smarmy, smart mouthed asshole who didn't know how to choose his words carefully enough. He pointed an accusing finger at the priest, as if to single him out.

"This is not over. A simple apology will not wash away this dishonor. We WILL fight in this 'arena' place."

Yuki sighed and accepted both men apologizes. "You are both forgiven this time around." Now she quickly turned to the crowd she hated giving speeches and she hated drawing attention to herself. If she could she would have returned home right away and hide under her blanket while waiting for the day to end and for her to pack tomorrow and get ready to be shipped out like the next order of tea to her family home. She was more than glad to see that she didn't need to tell the people to return to what they were doing before.



Turning to Hawkeye nodding her head. "That is perfectly fine for you guys to settle this with a fight if you must. All I ask for now is for you both to be civil to each other." Taking a deep breath before speaking again. "Now we did lose only a small amount of time because of the argument. So if it is okay for everyone I believe we should head towards the marketplace. I need to speak with a few merchants and we could do some shopping. Winter will not last forever and I believe it is never too early to planning for the spring."

Gabriel spun his staff before tapping it on the ground next to him, relieved that the guard backed up for now, Gabriel didn’t really want to make a scene or fight in a crowd since there would had been a high chance of someone getting injured. Gabriel was also worried about Yuki’s wellbeing if they did fight in such a crowded place. “ I don’t mind going to the arena some day to fight you” Gabriel said to hawkeye after listening to what hawkeye and Yuki said.



“Hmm okay if anything I’ll be able to look at some unusual items then “ Gabriel said to Yuki. Eager to continue through the tour of Nova, Gabriel was prepared to start walking again as the crowd scattered. “ What you planning on getting in the marketplace Yuki?”
