The castle was abuzz abruptly one morning. Those in the first district might have sounded like a weak explosion from the direction of the castle, but such an event could have been written off as a magical experiment gone awry or something along the same lines. What might draw attention however was the scene of parties of guardsmen making their way into the underground through the sewer entrances or other known places that connect below. A rancid smell would slowly leak out from the vents that met the fresh air, keeping townspeople away for desire to control their gag reflex. Every so often the sound of another boom would rock the earth in various places, and wounded guardsmen would every once in awhile be pulled out of the underground. Gossip would get around that something big is going down, but the officials kept tight lipped upon it. That said, a few stronger looking mercenaries or adventurers were quietly recruited to join in the search for an 'item of interest' stolen from a high ranking official.
Note: Guards of rank are aware of the fact that Baroness Ansley Crawford and Baroness Acacia Southerland have been abducted during a bath and have a few details about the abductor: A ratman who has potent poison magic, magic based bombs, and some command of the creatures of the underground. The first expeditions to the underground have been wrought with traps which have wounded a few of the search parties thus far. Emphasis is made on attempting to keep this under wraps as much as possible by the commanding officers.
A middle ranking guardsman would call over those who had the strength of a sword arm or the clarity of a spell whom seemed overly interested in the events and might be inclined to make some coin. A promise of a 'substantial' reward would be given to those who would aid in the retrieval of the object but be accompanied by one of the unwounded guardsmen whom could be spared to assist them and keep tabs.
Post to sign up below, parties will be assembled based on players who identify wanting to work with others. Single players who want to participate will be assigned to a group once the signups have run until 7/22/16.
